Fantastic spot, tucked away from the bustle of San Marco and just around the corner. Clean, functional and friendly. Small bathrooms and the breakfast needs a lot of work ... Easy to hop onto a water bus, lose yourself in San Marco or brave the chaos of the square

Hotel was centrally located which made it very easy to stop in and rest for a short break. Bathroom was small but remodeled. Room was small and basic. Breakfast had pastries, rolls, deli meat, fruit and coffee. Front desk staff was polite but not very friendly or helpful.

Hotel is about 5 min away from the main square and has good restaurants around. Rooms are comfortable for 2 people. However, the bathroom is very small and cramped. Overall a decent hotel and good for one night stay

Hotel Campiello is located one short block off the Zaccaria docks and right behind St. Mark’s Square, in a very quiet plaza. It is small, charming, recently renovated, and the mostly bi-lingual staff is very nice and helpful. The free breakfast offers many good hot & cold selections and it is served in a small dining room right off the... More

Small cosy hotel hidden in a small square a block from the grand canal. Small, clean room with tiny bathroom. Amazing aircondition and free wifi. Great staff with happy demenor. Breakfast room was small, but carried an OK breakfast selection. Good value for Venice. It is however a 40 minute public boat ride from parking house.

The Hotel Campiello, is very well situated near all the main tourist sights. It is small, but the rooms are clean, their is air con, a lift and the breakfast is OK. The breakfast room gets a little crowded from around 9am, it seems the be shared by the guests of an adjoining hotel, but saying that there was still... More

In June 2015, my husband and I, along with our son, his wife and two grown sons stayed for three nights at Hotel Campiello. Both families were very pleased with the rooms. We had a small double (to save money) which was traditionally decorated and they had the deluxe quad room which was spacious, appeared to be newly renovated and... More

We spent 3 nights here. It is centrally located in the city so that walking to sights, shopping, restaurants, museums was really easy. You can also hop on a water taxi very conveniently. The rooms were very outdated. Heavy, old draperies. Old bedspread and blanket. Breakfast is provided every morning. It was good, hearty food, for the most part. Just... More

We had a beautiful room, with a very comfortable & large bed and a lovely en suite which included a posh shower with jets that rinsed all parts of your body! The hotel is in such a brilliant location, especially if you arrive, like we did, by water bus at San Zaccaria. You just walk up a passageway by the... More

We stayed here for 3 nights. Hands down, you can't beat the location. It's just a few steps from the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop. We took the Alilaguna blue line to and from the airport and it was super easy to find the hotel. Not even 5 minutes walk to St Mark's Square. We had a classic double which had... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
