This hotel seems to be one of the nicer offerings in Venice, which is flooded with overpriced, questionably-decorated, barely-functioning hotels and b+bs. However, I really wish I had seen a photo of the single room before paying for what I imagined would be one of the rooms pictured on the website. The single room I ended up with was like... More

Second time staying in Vencie on a visit here. Better than the first, several years ago, based on room size, air conditioning and breakfast. Took Alilaguna boat from VEN airport to within one block of the hotel. The website had good directions. It's a long walk though from the airport arrivals terminal to the boat dock. 90 minutes later we... More

Rick Steves recommended this hotel in his travel book but we think he didn't praise it highly enough. The accommodations we had were for a party of 4 with plenty of room and high chlass bathrooms. The staff was very happy to help with what ever request we had or directions needed. A quaint location just 2 short blocks from... More

This hotel is near the boat docks and a 3 minute walk to St. Marks Square. The breakfasts were good and the staff pleasant and helpful. You can walk to the Rialto bridge in less than 15 minutes. In Venice you want location - don't waste time commuting.

Although it's possible to stay at less expensive hotels, they tend to much further away from the important centres like St Mark's Square. Convenience and comfort are important when visiting Venice, as the days tend to be packed with visits and long walks. Being within a few minutes of St Mark's Square is a great luxury and one we took... More

We had 3 nights and we were lucky enough to get a studio around the corner which had a sitting room, kitchen, bedroom en suite. The location is perfect being 60m from San Zaccaria station for the water bus from the airport. It is 5 mins walk from St Marks Square and all the major attractions are easily accessible. The... The hotel was convenient, staff we helpful, rooms clean but the bathroom was tiny. You could not turn around in the shower without hitting the tap mixer and with turning it off of moving the hot or cold.

The location of this hotel can't be beat. We stayed in an apartment unit called Buchintoro on the ground floor. It worked out quite well. I traveled with my husband and two children aged five and eight. The kitchen unit was handy. The room was clean as well as the bathroom. The shower stall is quite small. I can't imagine... More

This hotel is pretty budget and rooms are extremely small but cannot ask for a better location, value, and friendly staff. We took the water taxi from train station to the hotel and the hotel is very close to one of the stops. It's a 2 min walk to st Marc's square and gondola rides. We sipped cappuccinos at the... More

The room what a little too warm and very tiny, but nice breakfast, nice staff, good location! Everything was clean and it felt very secure. Map out your water taxi (transportation) before arrival, we wasted some time becoming efficient at the best way to get around. The blue line, which had a stop closet, travels too far out of the... Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
