The Hotel Campiello, is very well situated near all the main tourist sights. It is small, but the rooms are clean, their is air con, a lift and the breakfast is OK. The breakfast room gets a little crowded from around 9am, it seems the be shared by the guests of an adjoining hotel, but saying that there was still... More

In June 2015, my husband and I, along with our son, his wife and two grown sons stayed for three nights at Hotel Campiello. Both families were very pleased with the rooms. We had a small double (to save money) which was traditionally decorated and they had the deluxe quad room which was spacious, appeared to be newly renovated and... More

We spent 3 nights here. It is centrally located in the city so that walking to sights, shopping, restaurants, museums was really easy. You can also hop on a water taxi very conveniently. The rooms were very outdated. Heavy, old draperies. Old bedspread and blanket. Breakfast is provided every morning. It was good, hearty food, for the most part. Just... More

We had a beautiful room, with a very comfortable & large bed and a lovely en suite which included a posh shower with jets that rinsed all parts of your body! The hotel is in such a brilliant location, especially if you arrive, like we did, by water bus at San Zaccaria. You just walk up a passageway by the... More

We stayed here for 3 nights. Hands down, you can't beat the location. It's just a few steps from the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop. We took the Alilaguna blue line to and from the airport and it was super easy to find the hotel. Not even 5 minutes walk to St Mark's Square. We had a classic double which had... More

We recently had a one night stay at the Hotel Campiello and had one of the apartments. We found it to be very spacious and the location is really nice to St Marks. The breakfast was a bit chaotic, but not too bad in the end. The front desk staff were all very helpful. I wish we had more time... More

We took a ferry from Marco Polo airport and alighted at St Zaccaria station and the hotel was just right in front of us ! It was just a bridge away from Piazza San Marcos and surrounded by restuarants and shops. We stayed at Room "M", the attic and the room just the right size for four of us. The... More

We were only able to stay here for one night, but I wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel was neatly decorated inside. You could tell the hotel tried to be trendy. The rooms were neat and clean with well decorated bathrooms. The included breakfast was fantastic, which both American and European breakfast options. I especially enjoyed the automatic... More

Conveniently located- 1 very short block (alleyway) from vaporetto station which gets you to the airport, train station and Grand Canal ferry route. Also about a 5 minute walk to St Mark's Square along the main walkway on the pier. Hotel was clean, has free wifi, and they provide a nice breakfast of eggs, cold cuts, bread, fruit.

We stayed in room 210 which was decent enough with a queen bed, a twin, and small, but updated bathroom with nice shower. The beds, as in most places we stayed, were quite springy and uncomfortable, but we were so tired from the humidity and the wine that it didn't matter. The breakfast was the most comprehensive we'd had in... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
