The location of this hotel can't be beat. We stayed in an apartment unit called Buchintoro on the ground floor. It worked out quite well. I traveled with my husband and two children aged five and eight. The kitchen unit was handy. The room was clean as well as the bathroom. The shower stall is quite small. I can't imagine... More

This hotel is pretty budget and rooms are extremely small but cannot ask for a better location, value, and friendly staff. We took the water taxi from train station to the hotel and the hotel is very close to one of the stops. It's a 2 min walk to st Marc's square and gondola rides. We sipped cappuccinos at the... More

The room what a little too warm and very tiny, but nice breakfast, nice staff, good location! Everything was clean and it felt very secure. Map out your water taxi (transportation) before arrival, we wasted some time becoming efficient at the best way to get around. The blue line, which had a stop closet, travels too far out of the... Small hotel, very clean, quite and breakfast was included. Great location to the water taxi, so dont need to pull your luggage very far. Opened my window at night, was not too bad for December....only caution was the smokers at night walking by the window. Plenty of eating around and Square is around the corner.

Great location, nice staff, clean, comfortable, felt safe. Breakfast was very good-scrambled eggs, meat and cheese platter, tasty pastry, juice. Room rate was reasonable but I would upsize my room on the next trip. You can't go wrong if you have the same experience as we did.

We stayed in Hotel Campiello for one night. It is extremely well located, being just one minute away from the Piazza San Marco and almost in front of the waterbus stop. The room we got was quite small, although really clean. The breakfast was overwhelmingly confusing and a mess! Loud music, unpleasantly noisy, the staff was running around as if... More

First of all I need to say that the location of the hotel is really great-not far from San Marco. At the same time really quiet and cosy. The service is great, receptionist is a nice person with a heartwarming attitude. The room was clean. It was a great hotel for the great price

If you are looking for a nice location in central Venice, Campiello would be a choice as the hotel is just 5 minutes walking distance to several main attractions as the Bridge of Sights, Doge’s Palace, Vaporetto and Water Taxi station, etc. The rooms are comfortable with reasonable sizes, breakfast was just ok, the rest of facilities are modest and... I stayed at Hotel Campiello last year for a Valentines weekend. Having never been to Venice before I had no idea what to expect. The main thing I will say is that Venice is incredibly beautiful however be prepared to get completely lost. One of the most handy things about this hotel apart from the great price, lovely staff and... More

This was our third visit to the Hotel Campiello. It is well priced, has a great location, and a staff that is quite helpful. It's family run and the owners are on site pretty much daily. Their location is just minutes from the Doge's Palace and St Mark's. We had a seven day stay split between rooms 215 and 216.... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
