We enjoyed all aspects of our 4 night stay at the Bucintoro. As constantly mentioned in almost all previous reviews, the location is one of the best in Venice. Just far enough away from the hordes of disembarking tourists and nighttime revelers but convenient to all that Venice has to offer, including many excellent restaurants (Al Covo, Alle Testiere, Corte... Stayed for 3 nights recently. Lovely junior suite with balcony and glorious views. Very good location. There is no restaurant however and breakfast was just adequate. The suite was clean but not spotless - some areas are obviously missed. The shower runs out of water at busy times and though we spoke to staff nothing was done. The bed was... More

Excellent location very close to Arsenale and on the water front so ideally located for walking around Venice or travelling by vaporetto . Lovely room, good breakfast and lovely helpful staff. Would highly recommend a stay in this hotel.

+Excellent location just near San Marco Square but in a quiet neighborhood (only 10 min walk to Sant Marco). Our room (305) had overwhelming views to San Marco (Tower and Ducal Palace) and to the main Chanel (Laguna). Very big room (very rare in Venice) with tea and seating area. The price (155€/night) is very reasonable for this quality and... More

We stayed at The Bucintoro for six nights at the end of March, we booked through the hotel web site well in advance and asked for a top floor room (as others here have advised) and actually did receive a room on the top floor with an amazing view. The view, and the location of the hotel (just 800m from... More

The staff at the hotel were fantastic and accommodating to all of our requests. They even helped us arrange a private water taxi to take us to the airport at 4:00am. The location of the hotel was very nice with rooms overlooking the water. Distance to great restaurants and bars was perfect, not far at all. Walking throughout Venice is... More

Stayed here fore New years eve / day ad thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel staff are very friendly helpful and the rooms themselves while not huge are comfortable and very clean and tidy. Breakfast was a continental with everything you would expect. It did get a bit busy in the morning as there's not much room in the breakfast area.... More

One of the best hotels that I have stayed in so far. We were travelling to Venice to celebrate our 4th anniversary month and had requested for a corner room overlooking the lagoon. We were overjoyed when they offered us a Junior Suite Corner Room for our stay which we booked online We reached the hotel quite late in the... More

Beautiful hotel...rooms were clean and spacious. The location was absolutely perfect! So close to San Marco but far enough out of the way to avoid noise. Beautiful view right on the water and wonderful included breakfast (breakfast felt very American)

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
