This hotel was simply just fantastic. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special. Our room (junior deluxe suite) was spacious and the roof terrace just perfect for viewing the fireworks on New Years Eve. I cannot praise the staff and hotel enough.

Elegantly and expensively furnished hotel, a respectable distance away from the S.Marco madness on the fringe of the quiet Castello area and adjacent to the San Marco docks. Only 50m from the edge of the Lagoon. 3 min walk to Arsenal Vaporetto stop and leisurely 8 minures walk to Piazza San Marco. Rooms are designed to reflect the historical martime... More

Beautiful small hotel with gorgeous views and lovely rooms! We had adjoining rooms with our teens and it was perfect! Small sitting area with closets in between along with a coffee/tea service at a small table overlooking the canal! Loved that it was located just off the main tourist foot traffic area! Small gelato place just outside hotel and plenty... More

Because of the shape of the shoreline, the hotel looks directly down the promenade and from every hotel room you have majestic views of many of the major attractions of Venice. And the location makes it easy to walk to the landmarks, and also accessible to a water taxi station quite close. The hotel itself, though...modern...ish... it still feels tired.... More

Beautiful hotel in a great area in Venice. Just far away enough from the chaos of St. Mark's square, yet only a 10 minute walk to major landmarks in Venice. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance. Get the public ferry and do the grand canal first thing in the morning-sit in the back of the boat for great pictures. One... More

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in December. What a fabulous place in a beautiful city! Hotel is very convenient for water taxi transfers to the airport, just a little outside the main tourist area so pretty quiet, but still in easy strolling distance to St Mark's square. We had a room with a great view across the... More

My wife and I just completed our two night stay here. What a wonderful hotel and staff! The view from our room was incredible and we were within a short walk to San Marco square (the main tourist attraction in Venice). The room was quiet and clean, but like many hotel rooms it was quite small. We have no complaints.

The room was fine and not too small. The service was lovely including a friendly Scots housekeeper and her charming Italian husband. The breakfasts were excellent. The location was good, away from the fray but near San Marco. The view was amazing. The only negative were that there were few late nearby restaurants.

I brought my mum for 4 nights as her Christmas present. This hotel did not disappoint. Staff were incredibly welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was yummy and really set us up for the day. Rooms were set in a boat theme, which tied in well with the amazing view from our window. No other hotel would provide... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
