We spent four nights at Bucintoro in Venice end of July and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is designed on a boat thematic with mahogany wainscots and moldings. The bathrooms are in marble and modernly equipped. The staff is very kind and helpful. The first morning we overslept and missed breakfast because of timezone and they gracefully offer us... More

We booked this hotel as it was close to the centre and as it was our first trip to Venice we weren't sure where to stay so this seemed a good choice. We also managed to book this hotel for a great price which helped. The hotel is great, the rooms are very nautical, everything is clean and the bathroom... More

We were not really sure what to look for when it came to hotels, because we have never been to Venice. This hotel was located right along the lagoon, in an amazing neighbourhood. To the one side was nice neighbourhood with more locals and good restuarants. The other side of the hotel was the beginning of the lively strip. We... More

This well kept small scale hotel is a bit off the center of touristic action (10 min. walk from Mark's Square) which provides a quiet atmospher and allows relaxation. The rooms are rather small but sufficient. The staff are friendly and helpful. You feel that you are a welcomed guest. Breakfast is very basic but totally acceptable considering the Italian... More

Set overlooking the lagoon; the well appointed Hotel Bucintoro was everything we'd hoped for. Lovely room, fantastic view and friendly staff. Set aside from the `hub-bub´of the City centre, yet the historic sights were easily accessible both on foot or vaporetto. We highly recommend this Hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Bucintoro for three nights and were extremely happy with our choice. There were three of us, so we had a triple room which was sized just right, and the location, waterfront but just a short distance away from the tourist insanity, was perfect. (The Vaporetto 'Arsenale' stop is right there too.. Very handy!) The decor was... More

This was a great location -away from the heavily crowded tourist area yet easy to reach by vaporetto [Arsenale] being only 2 minutes from the stop. The hotel was on the waterfront, traditional boutique style with rooms reflecting those of famous ships' cabins. We had a canal view. Our room was spacious enough and well furnished with a comfortable bed... More

This hotel is in a great location! Take the water taxi (purchase your ticket straight out of the train station for line 4.1). VALIDATE IT at the green box right by the dock (which is right outside the station). Do not validate it too early as the ticket is good for 1 hour. Watch the numbers on the taxis, several... More

right on the front so can see cruise ships passing by your window. Very helpful staff, clean and well appointed. Good continental breakfast with plenty of choice. In very easy reach of everything in Venice but just far enough away from the madness of ST Marks Sq. to be quiet. Being a small hotel not much in the way of... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
