We stayed in this lovely Hotel in July 2015. We loved the vicinity of the Hotel as it is away from the crowds and we had great views from our windows! In a quieter part of Venice but not far from St Marks Square. Very close to the Ferry and we were able to catch a Water Taxi very close... More

We were able to get two connected rooms for $500 per night. I have a handicap and this worked out very well. Nice older facility, more like a B &B. Breakfast daily, free WiFi, excellent location on the Grand Cannel. Water taxi goes right to the door for $130 euros, water busses stop very closely to here. Clean, updated, friendly... More

We stayed in mid-August of 2015 at the Hotel Bucintoro, and we truly enjoyed the experience. Great view of the lagoon, nice, clean, elegant rooms, extremely friendly staff. We will definitely be back! Good price.

This hotel is situated just away from the busy networks of taxi boats, bus boats and all other busy canal traffic, fantastic views with great clean rooms. Staff where friendly and helpful. Only two things I would say the hotel could do to make an improvement would be more choice at breakfast and a bar for the early evenings it... More

Lovely hotel with great service. Small lobby. Beautifully renovated rooms ( albeit small.) View could have been great but unfortunately blocked by a huge yacht. Bathroom was quite elegant with a great tub and shower.

We had three nights at the Hotel Bucintoro in July 2015 and were very impressed. The hotel was very easy to find. We arrived into Venice train station and took the 4.1 water bus 7.5 euros each. This drops you at the 'Arsenale' after about 40 mins. The hotel is to the right of the stop about 200 yds across... More

Very well located near San Marco Plaza with a wonderfull view over laguna, close to boat station, rooms are small but very intimate, impecably clean and very romantic decorated like a boat room. A very particular concept of design in spirit of Venezia.Wifi with strong signal inside the room. A big 10 for staff in the fro t desk, they... More

We spent four nights at Bucintoro in Venice end of July and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is designed on a boat thematic with mahogany wainscots and moldings. The bathrooms are in marble and modernly equipped. The staff is very kind and helpful. The first morning we overslept and missed breakfast because of timezone and they gracefully offer us... More

We booked this hotel as it was close to the centre and as it was our first trip to Venice we weren't sure where to stay so this seemed a good choice. We also managed to book this hotel for a great price which helped. The hotel is great, the rooms are very nautical, everything is clean and the bathroom... More

We were not really sure what to look for when it came to hotels, because we have never been to Venice. This hotel was located right along the lagoon, in an amazing neighbourhood. To the one side was nice neighbourhood with more locals and good restuarants. The other side of the hotel was the beginning of the lively strip. We... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
