We had been recommended to try this restaurant & we did eventually find it(not easy!) The menu is relatively simple but our experience suggests that the staff whilst being very professional are more used to serving people who know the place well & are not used to guiding the innocents around the menu-which we were!

Authentic good food wine and ambiance. A little hard to find but worth it. Got there nearly at closing time 2:30 so was offered a partial men of three pasta items. Delicious. Only negative is they charged 8 e for bread we didn't eat or ask for. Still food was good.

We stayed at this charming well situated hotel on a side canal in the Dorsaduro area . So different from the usual hotel chains. We loved it. Big en-suite room overlooking the front entrance, all was full of character. And very convenient for Zattere, Academia grand canal etc

This hotel room is clean and has everything needed, however, we only stayed for one night which was probably enough. It has old decor and an old bed. The "reception" is actually in the restaurant which was odd. Check in and check out went smoothly, however, you will not get much help from the people working the reception, as it... More

Day 1 OK, Day 2 no hot water, Day 3 and 4 student group arrived and "took over" the hotel. We were the only other guests. They were extremely rude and noisy and left rubbish in common areas. Was told the hotel liked the group who had visited four times and had special rights. We left a day early and... More

We stayed in this hotel after we got off the cruise in Venice, had big luggages so we stored them in the Port, good thing they have storage there for there are no taxis in Venice, you can only walk and walk only, cross bridges and walk on those pebblestones, we are older couple and our luggages weighs 50 lbs... Our first visit but our friends second was just about perfect. Excellent variety menu-wise. Perhaps as many as 10 appetizer choices, several raw. Friends loved the raw tuna; we had glorious tomatoes and fresh mozzarella in heavenly olive oil. Good wine selection, mostly Italian, as one might expect. Many fish entrees offered but for non-fish eaters, veal and lamb as... More

The hotel is in a quiet area, but very close to the ocean, amazing grocery stores, and lots of walkable areas. The hotel is cheap but very beautiful. The rooms are very comfortable and charming. Stay here!

My wife and I found this gem whilst walking around the back streets/canals. It has a lovely courtyard restaurant and we decided to make a reservation without having done any research. It paid off. Great food, reasonable prices, good service. I would eat there again. We didn't realise it did rooms as well. It is in a nice quiet area... More

This is not your standard hotel and restaurant - more like a big house overlooking the canal that takes in guests. Go for it if you want something different and can get a good deal, with interesting art all around. The only problem was when I left at about 7.20 in the morning there was no one around to check... Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
