Hotel location is brilliant, easy walk from the water bus terminal and easy into the main squares. We only used the water bus to get to and from the island as you can walk everywhere easily. GPS/Google Maps are useless due to the buildings being tall and so close to each other but getting lost is half the fun! Breakfast... More

Loved our one night stay here! The receptionist was friendly and helpful and made sure we had assistance getting our bags up the stairs (no lift). Our room was quaint, hand painted furniture and a teeny TV with mainly Italian channels. We had a bath with a shower nozzle but no high-stand so we had baths instead. We were happy... More

Just returned from a weekend stay. Agree with other comments regarding the shower pressure on the top floor, it is terrible if we had been staying longer we would have requested a different room. Bathrooms could do with an update as the shower cubicle was quite basic and the glass screen was in need of a good clean. Overall a... More

This little hotel tucked away on Calle Goldoni has several things in its favor. The location could be one plus, if you desire a hotel very close to San Marco. The price is right for a budget hotel. The staff is friendly, multilingual, and professional. The breakfast is heartier than most Italian hotels--great coffee, served with warm milk. The hotel... More

Our family stayed in two rooms at this charming hotel. Location is excellent - close to San Marco square and the Rialto bridge. Staff was very friendly and spoke good English. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, albeit a little small. Quiet street; we felt very safe walking in the area late at night. We enjoyed breakfast each morning. No... More

Perfect location mid-way between San Marco Square & Rialto Bridge, both of which are a short easy walk away. The staff were so friendly, helpful & welcoming. The hotel is small & charming. Rooms are upstairs (no elevators) & are spotlessly clean & tidy. Plenty of hot water, free WiFi & very small TV, mostly Italian + CNN & BBC... More

I feel like cutting and pasting the review by AprileM2015. I have awarded it top stars, because the balance of facilities, location etc. is excellent and I think the overall rating deserves it. The staff were absolutely excellent. Knowledgeable, charming, with-it, the best. The location is very good. The number 2 ship comes directly to their stop, Rialto, and it... More

Great location, great service, small room and bathroom but it's all you need and clean, breakfast was nice, rooms are quiet, AC, the only negative was the lack of pressure in the shower on the top floor.

Clean rooms, very small but served our needs just fine with comfortable beds. Staff was very friendly, very helpful and spoke good English. Location is great, between Rialto bridge and San Marco plaza. Quiet street, secure building. My son and I always felt safe walking to/from during day and night. Breakfast was good and filled us up, the usual Italian... More

The atmosphere in this hotel is really nice. We were very well taking care of from the moment we arrived. The rooms are clean and the breakfast more than to expect in Italian hotels with scrambled eggs and Bruschettas. No elevator though, and a narrow staircase might be a bit negative, but we decided to look upon it on the... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
