I give Hotel Serenissima a five more for its location than anything else. The breakfast buffet is much improved over four years ago, the last time we were there. The room was small, but in Venice, that's what you're going to get. The best thing about the hotel is its perfect location, located about halfway between Piazza San Marco and... More

A great little hotel in the centre of Venice. Tucked away and a little difficult to find, but it was worth it. Although quite basic, this hotel was spotlessly clean, a great shower, friendly and helpful staff. I'd recommend it.

Best possible location for the price. Aircon not switched on which was a shame because an open window onto the street brings in extensive noise. Ask for a room at the back. Charming owners and friendly staff. Boutique breakfast. No other meals. Make sure you get a private water taxi to the local stop off. I would stay again.

Stayed two nights with a tour. Older hotel with no elevator. Rooms are small but clean. Our room was quite and the free Wi-Fi worked well. The staff was friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Best feature is great location with just a short walk to St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge.

I stayed for 5 nights at Hotel Serenissima during the busy professionals preview days of the Venice art biennale. The location is fantastic – between St Marks square and Rialto bridge .the staff is efficient and friendly and the hotel boasts a functioning free Wi-Fi. Those are the ups and they more than compensate for the lack of elevator (I... More

Stayed 2 nights in April. Located only a few minutes walk to either St. Marks Square or Rialto bridge. Warm, friendly staff. Small, but comfortable room and ample selection at breakfast. Overall good experience and good value for money. Just a note on the steps, we stayed on the top floor and had to climb 4 floors. If you prefer... More

The hotel has a great location. It is 2 minutes away from Rialto bridge and 3 minutes from St. Marco square. The breakfast was nice and the staff very warm and smiling. The room was basic but clean. The bathroom was extremely small, but I guess most hotels in Venice have the same issue. The walls are a little thin... More

The location was ideal. 5 minutes walk to the Rialto Bridge and water buses.5 minutes walk to St Marks Square. Really nice friendly staff. The room was more than adequate for the price. It was a little small but perfectly adequate . If you are not good with stairs ask for a room on the first floor. There are 71... More

I stayed here for two nights in April. The hotel is perfectly located close to both St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge. Hotel staff were perfect and very friendly and helpful. I stayed in a single room on the top floor (room 326). The room was spotless with an excellent shower. Although it was small it was absolutely fine... More

Lovely family run hotel, staff very friendly always a smile. Great location in the middle of st marks square and rialto. Breakfast very fresh and plenty to chose from. Our room on 2nd floor had views of a quiet courtyard. Would recommend this hotel.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
