I feel like cutting and pasting the review by AprileM2015. I have awarded it top stars, because the balance of facilities, location etc. is excellent and I think the overall rating deserves it. The staff were absolutely excellent. Knowledgeable, charming, with-it, the best. The location is very good. The number 2 ship comes directly to their stop, Rialto, and it... More

Great location, great service, small room and bathroom but it's all you need and clean, breakfast was nice, rooms are quiet, AC, the only negative was the lack of pressure in the shower on the top floor.

Clean rooms, very small but served our needs just fine with comfortable beds. Staff was very friendly, very helpful and spoke good English. Location is great, between Rialto bridge and San Marco plaza. Quiet street, secure building. My son and I always felt safe walking to/from during day and night. Breakfast was good and filled us up, the usual Italian... More

The atmosphere in this hotel is really nice. We were very well taking care of from the moment we arrived. The rooms are clean and the breakfast more than to expect in Italian hotels with scrambled eggs and Bruschettas. No elevator though, and a narrow staircase might be a bit negative, but we decided to look upon it on the... More

Stayed 2 nts in April 2015. Room was smallish, as was the period of the building, but very clean, quaint and comfortable. Yes, there is no elevator (get used to it in Europe!) but they carry your bags automatically. Loved hearing the church bells outside our window. We found staff helpful and the night clerk who served us t the... More

Its located very close to Rialto bridge which is the heart of the city. But rooms are very small with scanty furniture. Staff is not very co-operative. There is no lift in the hotel. Rooms do not have any power points. Carpets in the corridor are out dated.

Rooms are quaint and on the small side, but attractive and clean, and air conditioned. Breakfast was adequate, staff very helpful. Excellent location about halfway between Rialto Bridge and St. Marks. Yes, there are stairs, but that just comes with the territory. Catch the Vapparetto at Rialto to anywhere you want to go, or just wander through beautiful Venice and... More

Hotel Serenissima, with its blue and white rooms and Murano chandeliers evokes Venice. Our bathroom was spacious. The breakfast is wonderful. It is a full breakfast with eggs, pastries, cereals, etc. The price, given that it is in San Marco and only minutes to the piazza, is a bargain.

I arrived at the hotel and the reservation was canceled without coming into contact with me. According to the customer service attendant, the web site where I have did the reservation sent me an automatic email, to confirm the credit card number informed in the reservation, because the expiration date had expired. However I found the email that had supposedly... More

Stayed for one night on way north to Treviso and Montebelluna. The hotel is in a great central location close to the Rialto Bridge and St Marks. Decor is basic and there is no lift but I was on the 4th floor and was helped with my case on arrival and departure. The room was basic but clean and the... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
