I stayed here for two nights in April. The hotel is perfectly located close to both St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge. Hotel staff were perfect and very friendly and helpful. I stayed in a single room on the top floor (room 326). The room was spotless with an excellent shower. Although it was small it was absolutely fine... More

We could not fault this hotel at all. It was great value and perfectly placed for all the main sights. The reception staff and waitresses were extremely friendly and helpful and full of good recommendations for things like eating out. Additionally, if you want to get a good day in walking around Venice before flying home, you can leave your... More

This hotel has got the most service minded and charming reception staff you can imagine. There is even a small bar in the lobby. The rooms are small but very clean. The bathrooms are very clean in perfect conditions, but the showers can be a challenge when it comes to getting the rigt water temperature. Mama takes care of the... More

Charming Venitian hotel within a few steps to St Marks Square, near to Hard Rock Cafe. Lovely deocrations, great breakfast. Excellent service, very friendly, speaks english. Great value for money. Would definitely come back here..Like most places in Venice - lots of steps and stairs not suitable for disabled or unfit!

Read a lot of reviews on various hotels in Venice before deciding on the Serenissima. This hotel was excellent and the staff were superb we could not have asked for better. This was our first trip to Venice and the Serenissima definitely added to the experience. I read a couple of negative reviews and now that I have been to... More

Last year I spent one month traveling around Italy and Hotel Serenissima was the best hotel I stayed. Great spot, service price and decoration. It's like 5 minutes away from St Marco square. Hope I can go back.

You should watch the older owner of this hotel make preparations for breakfast. She watches everything and sets up most of it herself. The rooms are older but very comfortable. This hotel allows you to actually stay in Venice instead of commuting from the surrounding suburbs. One morning, before dawn, my partner and I headed out for a walk. The... More

We stayed at this hotel in November of 2014, and it was a great experience. Arriving there was a bit of a challenge, because we took too many wrong turns walking and dragging luggage but finally, we found it. It is very close (about 5 minutes) to Piazza San Marco and to a gondolas but without the noise. Breakfast was... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
