I stayed at the Hotel Serenissima in August 2015 and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the single room they allocated to me. Both the room and bathroom are a good size and I didn't feel cramped. I would go so far to say that 2 people could have shared this room and still be comfortable. The hotel is... More

We were extremely satisfied with our two-night stay at Serenissima this July. The hotel is situated about halfway between St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge, making for easy points of access for time-sensitive tours, dinner reservations, etc. Very friendly and knowledgable front desk, and fantastic breakfasts with the owner overseeing the smallest detail to make sure everything is to... The location of this hotel was good - in a city like Venice, it was actually not too difficult to find, using Google Maps (not the map the hotel provides - not sure you would find it as easily with their map). If you want to be in the centre of everything, yes, this hotel's location is good. Close to... More

I really loved this hotel, it is very close to St Marks Square and the Rialto..this is a family owned and operated hotel and believe me I was treated like family. The breakfast was very good and there is WiFi everywhere in the hotel including your room..I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel...

What I liked I liked the breakfast offered at this hotel. They had some boiled eggs, bread, and very inventive breakfast sandwiches - all of which where delicious. Additionally, the breakfast room was very cozy and I enjoyed it very much. The lobby is also quite nice and even has a little bar. The hotel has a very friendly Golden... More

Stayed in this Hotel with my family for the second year. Excellent Hotel with excellent location near Rialto Bridge and still maintained the quality as last year! Service matches to 3 star Hotel, but hotel is 2-star.

We loved Hotel Serenissima. The location was perfect for visiting San Marco and Rialto areas. The breakfast was excellent. There is no elevator, so we were lucky to be on the 2nd floor. There are 4 floors in this hotel, so you might be walking up a bit! The room was very small. If you were standing at the foot... More

Its all about location, this hotel is in the middle of it all, if u are looking for a base to explore venice, look no further. Room is good, a bed for our child as requested. Sleeping well with airco. Even though there are venice sounds drifting up (love it!) once you close the windows no sounds can be heard.... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
