Antica Locanda Sturion has a great location but also good rooms, a lovely and simple breakfast and genuinely good service. Love the views from the breakfast room! The one exception was a rude encounter with staff about whether or not they take American Express (they do but the person who informed us could not have been more rude). That's just... More

Charming hotel in great location! Located on the 3rd and 4th floor in one of the old houses at the Rialto bridge. Great view from the dining room of the Grand Canal. Life on the canal can also be followed live on the screen in the dining room. Good and simple breakfast. Slept well! Friendly staff. Recommended for sporty people... More

Yes, everyone complains about the stairs, and it is true, it is quite a climb! But its Venice! Embrace and enjoy the lovely nuisance of tiny streets, Venice skyscrapers and all that comes with it! The hotel is nice and clean, the proprietaries also own a restaurant on the other side of the canal where you will get a discount... More

It's true, the stairs can be a bit of a challenge but as you said "this is Venice". Thanks for sending in a few words of contentment. Glad you enjoyed the lovely food at the Bistrot de Venise. Bye till your next visit. Hopefully! Management & Staff More

From the beginning, Venice is a unique journey. This hotel will add to the experience. This hotel is very old and the layout shows it's age. According to the staff, the hotel was built around the year 1200. Because of its age, it does not have an elevator and you have climb three flight of stairs. While this may sound... More

Could not ask for anything better. The hotel is immaculately clean, food was excellent and the hotel staff superior. The location too is excellent. located across the Grand Canal from the Rialto dock.

Room and shower were satisfactory. Hospitality, breakfast, location all were excellent. Clean, comfortable, but oh... the stairs. The were chocolates to greet us, and a tea pot, which was nice (although in room 4, there was no plug by the pot, so I had to put it on the night stand or on the floor.) Overall, if you can manage... For a treat, booking the more expensive rooms 1 or 2 is worthwhile, so is climbing the stairs... After all, you are in Venice where you'll go up and down many stairs over the numerous bridges. You do not need to carry your luggage up the stairs though as hotel staff will do this for you. But do not forget,... More

Great location in San Polo over looking the grand canal also know as a great area for authentic Italian food with lots of restraints an cicheti bars "unique to Venice". The hotel is designed for the more mature guest in decoration and wile staying true to its Venice roots in decor the hotel seems to lack character and charm. The... More

Great location, unforgettable views, staff that go extra 10 miles for you, old charm décor, good breakfast you will experience if you choose this hotel. Stayed in the later part of august, in room #1 (canal view). Pros: great location, great view, room very spacious, good breakfast, good A/C (we were there on the tail-end of a heat wave, so there was an extra, portable air-conditioner in this room), good wiFi and helpful, friendly, accommodating staff. For me, the loooong flight of stairs was entertaining.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
"Antica Locanda Sturion," probably Venice’s most ancient hotel still running, is a cosy small Venetian House featuring just 11 rooms. Its decor, the ancient style furniture and the Venetian red damask and brocade make it special, creating a truly traditional unique and cosy feeling. A welcoming place from the past with superb and very impressive views on the Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge from the two Superior Rooms and the beautiful Breakfast Lounge, which is also: - a reading room with a tiny yet well-stocked library boasting a number of books in various languages.- a living room for an afternoon break and taking photos of the magnificent sunsets on the Grand Canal. You have just to take a look in the evening or early morning to breathe the magic of Venice and take a dip in the past and its atmosphere. Truly a breathtaking view! This Boutique Hotel is a small and well-established family business run by Nicole, Manuela, Helen and Flavia, who will do all their best to provide you with specific suggestions and advice for an unusual and intriguingly unique approach to our town. And in all our old-style rooms you will find the kettle to prepare a good cup of tea or coffee with complimentary cookies to rest after a long city tour. In a nutshell the right place to breath a truly Venetian and romantic atmosphere. As there is no lift to reach the Locanda, situated on the top floor of an Ancient Palace on the Grand Canal, we want our Guest to be aware they have to climb a long stairs, but our bellman Giuseppe will be happy to help you carrying upstairs your heaviest items.
