Just can't fault this hotel on anything. Absolutely lovely in every way. Friendly staff, quick check-in, abundant breakfast served in a beautiful front patio/garden! Our room was just fantastic...see my pics! **Easy walk from Alilaguna's Zattere stop (down one street and over one uncrowded bridge). **Nice walk to St. Marks square if you cross over first bridge as you leave... We spent 2 nights in the hotel. It is rather a challenge to find when you are exhausted from your flight. When we arrived, the reception was very friendly and our bags were carried up the 2 flights of stairs. Our room was clean with lovely views of the waterway from our windows. They supplied a kettle and hairdryer. The... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at Pensione Accademia as everyone was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a free boat ride over to Murano for a glass blowing tour and we were very close to several great museums including the Peggy Guggenheim. Short walk to the main St. Marco Square. Breakfast buffet was wonderful each morning and we... More

This hotel is magical in a perfect location for exploring the major tourist sights of Venice. The service is personal and the staff are eager to please. The rooms are quaint, individual and full of charm while still having all that you need such as toiletries, a hair dryer, kettle and safe. The public areas are beautiful too and it's... More

We stayed here for the first night of our honeymoon trip round Italy . When we arrived we was upgraded free of charge to a superior room . The room was classical in deco and had a great view or grand canal . The staff were brilliant and couldn't help us enough, especially Enrico who was a great help in... More

We only stayed the one night in Venice, and we're not disappointed by this gem. The journey from the train station is fairly arduous, particularly in August with heavy luggage (20 minute walk but you will need constant breaks in the shade) but it's worth it if you want to escape from the noise. We were instantly made to feel... More

I stayed there for five nights in August 2015 and was delighted by the location near the Accademia, the beautiful historical building, the garden, the staff and the cleanliness of the rooms. The linen was changed every day and the room was perfectly kept. Outside, it was nearly 35 degrees and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The staff is very... More

We have just spent a few nights in this excellent pensione, with our teenage grand-daughters. The situation of this pensione is excellent for tourists and it can be reached easily by water taxi and it is near to a vaporetti stop. The service is very correct, the breakfast good , the rooms clean and the gardens charming. In fact it... More

What we liked: Convenient location:away from the crowds but near enough to walk to San Marco and other major attractions. Very near to Accademia water taxi terminus. The beautiful front and back gardens were a welcome retreat after the maddening crowds. Receiving complimentary limonade and a savoury snack whenever you enter the hotel after an excursion was a very pleasant... More

We stayed here for two nights in early June 2015. We took a private water taxi directly to hotel. ( A time saver). There was four of us. The room was a little small but acceptable. Front desk guys were great! 410 Euros a night not bad to be ON the Island. Close to walk to everything.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
