My wife and I booked for 4 nights in Venice and chose this hotel mainly due to reviews we had seen on line. Great decision ! Only 2 minutes from St Marks square and 5 minutes from the Rialto bridge. Traditional hotel but very modern bathrooms. All staff were friendly and helpful service at breakfast and in the bar was... More

This hotel is in a good location not far from The boats (san marco stop). Very close to st marks square aswell. Theres a shop nearby which sells drinks and snacks which is far cheaper than using the mini bar. Receptionist greeted us very friendly but that was about as friendly and welcoming response we got all weekend. Room was... More

from booking the hotel to leaving, the staff were exceptional, incredibly helpful with communication, having our room already set up with child beds, booking a guide and water taxi for us, there was no need to ask for anything, all taken care of, which is so reassuring when you are on a short break with kids, a great find on... Rooms were ready on arrival and we were able to check in early. breakfast had plenty of choice, including gluten free items which was ideal for one of our party. Rooms were spacious and very clean. Traditional hotel within a stones throw of St.Marks... More

Hotel was close to all major tourist attractions. Although a bit dated rooms were comfortable, outside restaurant expensive but good. Breakfast was good with a wide choice. The roof terrace proved to be relaxing at the end of a busy day.

All the staff was professional yet light hearted. One our our best hotel stays. If you are looking for a top hotel but not wanting to pay for a top level, this is as close as you can get. The staff is extremely helpfull. The top restaurant on site was a plus.

A fantastic hotel in a great location in the heart of Venice. Every tourist attraction is within a short walking distance. The concierge team were absolutely brilliant, some great suggestions that we hadn't though of and each one was a superb experience. We loved our stay here so much. Could not recommend it highly enough.

We first stayed in this hotel in 2002 and stayed there again In March of 2015. We enjoyed it thoroughly both times. In terms of the hotel, it is a solid four stars, verging on five stars. In terms of location, it is five stars and then some. The lobby is old and stately--handsome and dignified. The rooms are big,... More

Great location, close to St marks square and within a few minutes walk from the giglie vaporetto stop - from airport, to train station and for an excellent tour of the grand canal. Quiet location too - we had a room that backed onto one of the canals. Very busy hotel and therefore breakfast was fairly chaotic but very good... More

Perfect location. Less than 10 minutes leisurely walk to Saint Marks Square where you can also get to the water transport. Room is clean and well kept. Staff are very friendly, courteous and very helpful. Airline lost my luggage, and the hotel staff followed up on this. By the time I got back at night, the luggage was already in... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
