To my British eyes, the reception staff seemed disorganised and arrogant. Apparently it was my fault that I had no change to pay the tourist tax (which was requested/required before we had even checked in. . the room was functional, but dated, and not big enough once the 'put you up' bed was open for our child. Bathroom good and... More

We found this hotel brilliant, great location to explore Venice and you are on the border of going to the quieter parts if you fancy it. The hotel staff were lovely and the breakfast was to a good standard. The room we stayed in was very nice and had a Venice feel. However I think the most special thing about... More

Got into the hotel at 1 PM and was told that check in couldn't be done till 2.30 PM which is OK. Most hotels don't let you check in before 2PM as it is. The staff at reception was cold and least helpful. Brought out a contract to sign which had numerous points. One of them being an additional charge... More

I'm was able to afford this hotel because I could use credit card points for part of it though my bank. Big plus for me. Location is very central and very convenient. Especially for water busses. Very easy to find when you're fresh off the boat from the airport. Bed was much more comfortable than I expected! And the "Sala"... More

We recently spent 3 nights in Venice as part of our holiday before we continued on to Rome. We chose to stay in this guest house as it appeared to have traditional Venetian features rather than being part of a chain of hotels. We weren't disappointed. The guest house is situated on the grand canal near to the Rialto Bridge-... More

A small hotel located partly fronted onto the Grand Canal and close to the Rialto Bridge. We had a quirky room up in the roof with a flight of steps and a spiral staircase between the door and the bed room. Need to be able bodied to use. We did get a view of the Grand canal which is fascinating... More

We stayed at the hotel for two nights before taking a NCL cruise out of Venice. We got there before check-in and the staff was friendly and helped us find a nice place to grab lunch while they finished up our room. We ended up staying in the canal facing suite facing the Grand Canal on the third floor (next... More

Location of the hotel is perfect. It is right next to the Rialto Bridge overlooking the Grand Canal. The tea room/ breakfast room overlooks the grand canal and in the evening gives you unmatched views of the Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge. If you are coming from the Santa Lucia railway station then it is better to get off at... More

Excellent location- access to everything. Fabulous views- we had double canal view. Good-sized room. As per other reviews, breakfast quite limited and not enough tables for the number of guests. All in all good experience. Decor is mixture of old and 50s/ 60s but not offensive--but would not appeal to those looking for everything 'just so' or modern decor---we liked... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
