I wish I could have stayed longer. Best location, friendly hosts, nice rooms. Breakfast was very nice. It's an easy walk from St. Marks. Listen to the show in the theater from your comfy chair at the tavern. This will be my base for future visits.

THis hotel has a great history when many artists have stayed there in the past as it is located just behind the opera house La Fenice. It is in the middle of the old town and can be a little hard to find in the beginning. The rooms are a little worn out but tidy. The stuff was very friendly... More

We were at the hotel only 2 days but had received help at least a half a dozen times for directions to water buses, restaurants, attractions and other sites. The hotel staff was always available and the hotel was very close to many attractions in Venice, however far enough off the main streets to avoid too much foot traffic.

A hotel which is lovely, comfortable, welcoming, located by the magnificent Teatro Fenice. Wonderful Maria and Michele, together with the warm and wonderful staff make you feel at home! The rooms, artifacts, great breakfast, fabulous Taverna La Fenice for lunch or dinner, all combine to entice us back almost every year.

What a fabulous hotel. Right next to the opera house and five minutes to Saint Marcs Square. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. They organised every little detail for us and printed boarding passes and show tickets. We had just gotten married so we wanted to get two tattoos of the date on our arms before we left, the... I stayed at this hotel on my own whilst visiting the Venice Biennale. The room was very clean and serviced every day, ensuite bathroom likewise. I looked out onto the little court yard and enjoyed the sounds of Venice, yet with windows and shutters closed all was quiet. Breakfast was a la carte and great, including fruit, yoghurt, croissants, bread... More

We spent 3 nights at the hotel, enjoyed every minute. Staff were friendly and helpful. The omelets were yummy too. If you are eating at the restaurant downstairs don't forget to tell them you are staying at the hotel they give a discount on the food. (which was delicious)

Hotel was supposed to arrange water taxi from Rly Station but it didn't. After several call and waiting for one hour a taxi was arranged. Location of the hotel is far away from ferry point. Due to high tide water taxi dropped us quite far away from hotel. Hotel arranged a porter and we had to pay 60 Euro to... More

Dear KrishDwiv, we are a little bit surprised about your complaint. we thought you have enjoyed your stay. First of all we really would like to specify that we were not concerned at all with your transfer from the railway station; it was arranged by your travel agency, not by us. Also the agency called the hotel to say they... More

Great location by the opera house and near all major points of interest on a quiet piazza. Our room on the third floor had a large, bright bathroom and was spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed. We enjoyed the Italian breakfast with many styles of coffee. In the evenings we enjoyed wine in the garden before going out to the... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at La Fenice, recommend the hotel wholeheartedly and would certainly stay there again. The location is perfect being 5 minutes walk, or less, from St Mark's or the Rialto and only slightly longer to the Accademia Galleries. Several vaporetto stops are close by and easy to find. La Fenice Opera House is of course right... More

Dear SeasonedT, thank you for spending your time leaving a nice review about our hotel. Sorry for the minibar which was not working, we are just changing some of them in these days. Concerning coffe/tea facilities, they are not allowed in the rooms for security reasons, but you can 24 hours ask for complimentary hot water or coffee at the... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
