This hotel was simply magical. Great location to everything we wanted to do in Venice. The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Our room had a view of the square and was quite large. I will stay here again when we return someday.

This hotel is directly outside the back door of the great Venetian opera house, La Fenice. Photos in the lobby show that famous singers like Pavarotti have stayed there. Pretty garden for breakfast, really helpful staff. You can avoid the vaparetto crush and trouble if you are willing to pay for a private boat ride to or from the airport... More

I chose this hotel because it is centrally located which meant that most sight-seeing could be done on foot. This has certainly been the case now I've been to Venice and you can get to either side of the Grand Canal in 5 minutes from the hotel; My room is on the 4th floor and there is an a/c fan... More

We stayed for 3 nights and thought the hotel was lovely. Our room was quite small but this was expected but the room was decorated in a vintage style which was nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I would definitely recommend staying here. The hotel is also close to some very nice restaurants and close to the... More

I stayed for two nights in a single room. I was not disappointed that my room was in the attic space as expected hotels at this price range in Venice to be a compromise. The location was excellent and the staff lovely, they also had a small bar and outdoor courtyard. The problem was my room was against the old... More

Stayed here for four nights May 2015 with my daughter. We had two single rooms. My room (212) was small and basic but clean and everything worked. The one drawback was there was no view whatsoever from the window. My daughters room (211) was much bigger with a double bed and a view of the courtyard. The breakfast was good,... More

Loved this boutique hotel in a quiet area of Venice. Just around the corner from the opera house, a five minute walk to San Marco's and very nice staff. The room was a good size and had a comfortable bed. I will stay here again.

Loved our room (suite) with balcony over the canal. Bed was very comfortable. Small hotel so it does not have a full restaurant. Would have preferred a full breakfast Does not have its own pier so portage involved when arriving or departing the hotel. Staff were wonderful and helpful. Convenient location for exploring the city and the sites. Be aware... More

Staff were very kind. Room is the classic Venice style, pretty nice. Located in San Marco, best neighborhood in Venice. Wifi not that good, oscillating signal a lot. Bed are very good. Bathroom nice but could be better. Pretty expensive for the room but ok comparing to San Marco hotels.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
