Staff were very kind. Room is the classic Venice style, pretty nice. Located in San Marco, best neighborhood in Venice. Wifi not that good, oscillating signal a lot. Bed are very good. Bathroom nice but could be better. Pretty expensive for the room but ok comparing to San Marco hotels.

A typical Venetian Hotel with an assortment of eclectic art throughout the hotel and rooms. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Rooms clean if a little tired looking. Location excellent situated just behind the Fenice Opera House and a short walk away from St Mark's Square. Would happily return to this very quirky, friendly hotel

Dear HunterScotland, thank you very much for your kind review. I am delighted to hear that you have appreciated the numerous little pieces of art which are the results of various exhibitions held in the past and which populate our hotel. Since your stay, we have been improving our facilities and renewing part of our rooms, so we look forward... More

Even with family. ..enchanting. .day in..day out...great location, not just because it's next to the opera house. .and by the way, you can hear rehearsals! Highly recommend especially if it's your first time in this enchanting floating city.

Fantastic, friendly staff. Quirky rooms, very clean with loads of storage. Perfect location, 2 mins from St. Marks Square. Very nice continental breakfast. Concierge advised us to get the boat over to San Giorgio rather than queue for the clock tower in St Marks Square, which we did and had the most superb views without any queues. We loved our... A great deal of care has been taken to decorate the rooms in a Venetian style. Chandeliers, brocade fabric wall coverings. It is a little tired now but blends perfectly with Venice itself. Comfortable beds with pristine white linens. The hotel is very close to St Marks square but , being just off the main tourist areas it beautifully quiet.... More

I loved this hotel - not because of the facilities - it's rather old fashioned - but it has a faded elegance and the staff/management are excellent and very helpful. It's right next to the Fenice opera house, with this on one side and a canal on the other. The Fenice side is more elegant, with the original staircase, although... More

Dear atticus19, thank you very much for your nice review. We are glad you had a good experience in our hotel. We are currently enlarging our facilities and we are providing our guests with complimentary coffee too. Regarding the lift, our hotel is in a historic building, which cannot be modified without Venice Council’s permission. Unfortunately, this one is the... More

This a tricky review, as fundamentally nothing was wrong with the hotel but i think for the price and rating you should get more. My room was right above the restaurant so was noisy on the first night (they play music until midnight), but no noise on the second night. I didn't have any breakfast although this was included, but... More

This was my first visit to Venice and although there were friends there at the same time I chose to stay somewhere separately and was looking for a single room. September in Venice was expensive but the single room at La Fenice was good value and so I booked it online through Expedia. When I arrived, the staff at the... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
