Stayed three nights here on our first trip together to Venice, chosen after reading trip advisor reviews. Hotel is easy to get to from ca d'oro vaperetto stop and is set on a lovely square with shops, coffee shops and restaurants close by.We had a deluxe room with canal view which was a good size and spotless.Air conditioning worked well, thank goodness as... This is a lovely hotel, the rooms are decorated in a style that suits Venice and very clean. The staff very helpful and friendly. We had a room looking over the small square and clock tower. There are a good choice of reasonable restaurants and bars close by.

Stay here for two nights at the end of our trip. We had a family room and the kids loved that their beds were on a mezzanine floor above our bed within the room. The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was a continental buffet style, but there was enough choice and it was kept well stocked. The staff in... More

We had a wonderful few days in Venice at Antico Doge and truly enjoyed the peace of the hotel (and the air-conditioning!) after busy days around the city. Good breakfast and pleasant service. Recommend!

We have just returned from 8 days in Venice. The hotel was nice, spotlessly clean with helpful staff. The decor was typically Venitian with lots of gold fabric everywhere. The bed was clean and fairly comfortable but the pillows were like concrete! Nice bathroom although quite small. The breakfast was quite basic, the same every day but there was plenty... More

We could not fault the lovely staff and the cleanliness of this traditionally Venetian hotel. The customer service was excellent and we are particularly grateful to staff who, when we discovered that we had left our passports behind, sent them via a water taxi and we managed to catch our flight!!

The Antico Doge Hotel is in a great location, situated near the Rialto Bridge. The rooms are very clean and the decor is very tastefully done, venetian elegance. There was no smells or mildew coming off the hot canals and the air conditioner worked to perfection. The staff were friendly, attentive and always willing to provide directions and suggestions. The... More

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon. It was last minute so we were on a budget. It was great value. The decor was Venetian style with expensive furnishings. The room was immaculate - 1 of the nicest I've stayed in for that price. But what made it special for us was the little extras they... More

A clean, welcoming and relaxing hotel, perfect location, great room looking onto canal, gay-friendly and quiet. Would highly recommend this for a weekend break in Venice. Could get better copy of Bellini's Doge.

Great location, excellent room, very plush and superb breakfasts. Wifi worked and most of the staff excellent and very helpful. A few on the front desk a little grumpy but I put that down to the heat. Would definitely stay here again. The only downside is that there is no lounge to relax in or have a drink. The breakfast... Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
