With so many hotels in Venice costing so much more, we didn't have great expectations of this Hotel, but it was actually superb. Great central location, lovely room, good quality breakfast and helpful staff. Really good value for money and definitely made our first visit to Venice very special. Would definitely choose it again if we are lucky enough to... More

This is one of the most charming 3 star hotels we have ever stayed at. It's a great choice in its price range. The rooms are spacious and extremely well decorated with a sophisticated rose gold wallpaper that matched with the bed linens and the curtains. Furnitures are plentiful, first quality and hand worked with richly detailed engravings. The bathroom... More

Excellent room and location. Staff very friendly. A toaster in breakfast room could be an advantage. Would recommend and will stay at this hotel again when I return to Venice in the future with partner

Luxurious room even though we booked the basic room. Beautifully cool in height of summer. Lovely antique furniture, paintings etc. And even a great breakfast is supplied. This hotel is set in a great location too.

This unique hotel is on a canal, walking distance from the Rialto and close to the Piazzale bus station, this hotel is elegant, charming and very convenient. Rooms are larger than expected in such an old European hotel. Breakfast (included) was delicious and offered a variety of selections. The staff was very attentive and pleasant as well. In spite of... We stayed in Hotel Antico Doge - the former residence of Doge Falier, on 8th and 9th July 2015. What a wonderful experience!!. The hotel was well located, very clean throughout and had period furniture and fittings that reflected the wonderful history of Venice. We were welcomed to the hotel with a very pleasantly chilled bottle of prosecco. As far... More

We stayed in the room whose window is the front balcony. It was not noisy at all in the night or in the morning. Breakfast excellent. Beautiful hotel and room. My husband and I were in the 4 poster bed and each child (2) got their own bed. Very comfortable bedding. Immaculate room and bathroom. Bathroom felt new. Perfect location... More

Fabulous hotel and location, the staff were very helpful. would highly recommend. Very easy to find, from the airport take a bus, tickets available from the information desk at the airport and from there take the vaperetto tickets available at the end of the bus journey in a kiosk by the bridge, and take the vapereto to C'd'or (excuse the... In July 2015, our family of three spent several nights at the Hotel Antico Doge. The property is a restored palazzo, located on a small, charming square, and convenient to the train station and many of the most popular tourist sites. A major selling point is the friendly, helpful staff. A special shout-out to Sara at reception for all of... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
