To avoid the extortionate rates set by cruise lines we picked our own flights, hotel and transfers to depart from Venice. We flew out to Traviso and caught a bus to Mestre and walked to the Alexander Hotel. The bus cost €10 each from the airport and it took 30 minutes to walk to the hotel via an enormous Spar... More

So the area outside the actual historical island part of Venice is very... slum? It's dirty and rather poverty stricken in appearance, and the natives are very hostile and xenophobic seeming (at least to scandinavian peoples) the hotel is close to a bus route, though the bus system is terrible and untimely. The rooms were small and mediocre, the wifi... More

This hotel is ideal for those wanting to sightsee in Venice, free secure underground car park, local to #12 bus route into Venice and several highly recommended restaurants. We were turned away from hotel restaurant but we hadn't booked and was late but soon found a local traditional trattoria which added to our experience. Clean room, king sized, quiet though... More

I stayed at the Alexander Hotel in April 2014 with a friend as I was visiting Venice. The hotel was a little hard to find, as it is off the main road in Mestre. The lobby was very clean and the staff on reception were friendly and advised us on bus times and how to get to Venice. The room... More

They definitely earned their 4 stars. My husband thought this was close from the Italo train station, so he made us walk, and it was a good 20-30 mins of me complaining about how we can try and figure out how to take the buses. DONT WALK HERE. Also, it takes about 5 mins to get to the bus to... More

We visited Venice in October 2014 and stayed in the Alexander Hotel. The accommodation was good, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was top class with a wide variety of dishes to choose. The hotel had private parking and was close to a number of restaurants. It was also ideally located for touring Venice. There was a... More

Beautifully renovated room, friendly and helpful staff. Solid breakfast, not your typical bread and butter fare found in many Italian hotels with a similar rating. Our flight out of Venice was at 6:30 am and the staff not only arranged a taxi for us at 4am (no buses run that early) they had a pre-packed breakfast for us. Hotel is... More

We were in this hotel during the 29th Venice Marathon to do 10 km. The hotel is located really in the neighborhood of the Start line (of ten km), only 20 minutes walking. You also can take a bus to reach it. This bus can also take you to the Venice Piazza Roma. But, during the weekends, it is impossible... More

Staying in an hotel in Venice can be horribly expensive. Staying in Mestre is much more reasonable. This hotel gives a good deal. The facilities are very good and the staff helpful,. This hotel is easy to find - the coach from Marco Polo Airport stops about 200 metres from the door. The regular bus services into Venice leave from... More
