My mom and I had an unforgettable stay here. Laura and her family are so nice and considerate. The room is not only clean but very much elegant. We cooked by ourselves though Laura generously offered to help. The supermarket is very nearby and district reflects another facets of Venice. I hope I could visit it some time soon next... More

Stayed with my wife in Venice just before the Christmas holidays. Laura is an incredible woman; she met us at the train station coming from Rome. Walked us to the apartment and showed us the neighbourhood. The apartment is squeaky clean, really spotless. All the equipment like pans, pots, plates, etc that is usually worn out or broken in most... More

We were picked up by Elena at the bus station and she walked us to the apartment which was less than 10mins walk. The flat was exceptionally clean and tidy. We spoke to Laura (Elena's daughter) who lives in UK beforehand and arranged everything with her. She was always happy to answer our endless questions. Elena does not speak much... More

This hotel gave me a very good impression of Florence. The owner waited my wife and I at the bus station. They even helped with our luggages and lead us to the b&b. It was a nice walk because we could see the structures of houses by canals. Its about just 5 minutes walk from ferrovia. Ferrovia is very interesting... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
