Rooms and corridors need some refurbishment - that's for sure. Bathrooms seemed to be after some changes already. Apart from that the hotel is lovely, great service - everyone at reception were so nice and helpful. Huge advantage of this place is its location - situated just 5 min walk away from Piazzale Roma and next to train station. The... More

Location: simply perfect. You cannot expect more than that. Just a few minutes walk from bus and train station. The rooms are average with all basic amenities. Wifi is available only in the lobby and restaurant. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast is fine. Overall, perfect place to stay in Venice.

Excellent location. Big room. Very good breakfast. Absolutely clean. Could be better with Wi-Fi and a kettle in the room. Also, in my bathroom (Room 33) there was hardly any leg space between the WC and the Bath tub for a person to use it sitting down. Serious design flaw, must rectify immediately.

As the most hotels in Venices centro storico are quite expensive, gived hotel florida a good value for our euro. It has a good location near the train station. There are many restaurants near by. The staff are very friendly. Our room was tidy. The breakfast could do better. Its was basic Italian sweet breakfast.

The best thing about Hotel Florida is its location. Just two minutes’ walk from the train station and in an alleyway opposite the Rialto Bridge. But this is not its only advantage. It is also relatively cheap, clean and staff are friendly and helpful. When booking we had not noticed that only two of our rooms had ensuite facilities. The... More

The room was very simple, small, and on the second floor with very narrow stairs, through where we had to carry our luggage. Even though, it's situated in the MOST PERFECT LOCATION! Very near the train station and waterbus stations as well. Street fairs and shops nearby. Every morning we would wake up with the smell of fresh baked croissants,... More

Friendly staff and clean room. Bathroom very small. There is not lift in this little hotel so be prepared to carry your suitcases up the stairs. WiFi available in the little sitting area in the breakfast room only. This hotel is down a very small lane off the Grand Canal not a glorious setting but for a budget hotel, it... More

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Florida in Venice. It was only a short walk from Piazalle Roma, crossing one bridge. It is very close to the station and down a tiny street which led onto the Grand Canal and a beautiful bridge. Our room was on the first floor, so the lack of an elevator did not impact... More

We booked this place, knowing it was rated as a 2 star property and can assure you that it exceeded our expectations. First viewing the small lobby and breakfast restaurant, we approached our room with great trepidation. Opening the door was like entering another hotel. Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
