We stayed at this place for 2 nights, very dingy rooms, there was a weird smell coming from the room all the time, no wifi in the room, the bed was in the worst possible condition, it wasn't worth the money they were charging. The rooms and the hotel all over is in need of a renovation as its too... More

Stayed with my family in mid July 2015 for a night. It's a budget hotel and that's what you get. I would not recommend it if you are staying for more than a night. The hotel is old with some worn carpeting. Very small check in area. Rooms are small to average sized. We had the family room with four... More

Right in the action off the grand canal but down a side street so quiet for sleeping. Air con was welcome. Internet was very fast. Breakfast is included and was good. All staff was very polite and spoke great English. Will use again if we're in Venice again.

We stayed here for 2 nights as a family. We could not fault the hotel. All three reception staff that we dealt with over the three days were friendly and extremely helpful. The room had air con and a good shower. The beds were comfortable and rooms very clean. The decor was old but this adds to the charm of... More

Although we stayed in the BnB Casanova ( within the hotel chain) it was still central. Took us a little while to find but once found rewarded with the amazing air conditioning. Beds very comfortable, a lot of room, good sized bathroom and too our surprise had a fridge in the cupboard. Handy for cooling our water bottles. Had pre-bought... More

Hotel in ideal location, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Double bed was actually two twin beds fixed together, one of which was rather uncomfortable. AC in room didn't work. Breakfast was basic needed more options. Hotel needs modernising.

We stay 3 nights in the hotel during the summer, I hope these points below can help you to chose (or not): 1- it is very well located, I think it was the best. It's a five minutes walk from the Santa Lucia train station, also it's 2 minutes walk from the Vapporeto station (if you came by boat). If... More

We thought this hotel was pretty good for Venice especially. The room was decent size, but probably the best part was how close it was to train station. Watching other people lug bags around Venices's packed paths, made me very happy we had the location we did. The breakfast was simple but done the job. It was our honeymoon so... More

No elevator hotel so if you have big luggage you have to bring it up to the 2nd or 3rd floor in your own. No staff to help you. The room is very old already but location is just near the train station. Breakfast is okay. The staff that attended to us is sarcastic.

Nice hotel on a quaint alley near the train station and right across from the water taxi. If you stay here and arrive by train you can be there and checked in after a few minutes. Easy to find and very nice staff. The building has a lot of history with restaurants one either side and at the entrance to... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
