We thought this hotel was pretty good for Venice especially. The room was decent size, but probably the best part was how close it was to train station. Watching other people lug bags around Venices's packed paths, made me very happy we had the location we did. The breakfast was simple but done the job. It was our honeymoon so... More

No elevator hotel so if you have big luggage you have to bring it up to the 2nd or 3rd floor in your own. No staff to help you. The room is very old already but location is just near the train station. Breakfast is okay. The staff that attended to us is sarcastic.

Nice hotel on a quaint alley near the train station and right across from the water taxi. If you stay here and arrive by train you can be there and checked in after a few minutes. Easy to find and very nice staff. The building has a lot of history with restaurants one either side and at the entrance to... More

This is ideally situated for leisurely walks to see the sights whilst being ideally located for the train station and the airport transport bus. The rooms are a bit small but have everything you need. An ensuite in Venice is hard to find and the air con is a blessing. A continental breakfast and friendly staff add to the highlights.... More

We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of June. It's a perfect place to be for all of your sightseeing needs. 2mins to the station, 10mins from the drop off of aeroport bus 5, water bus just at the end of the street. We walk wherever we need to go when on holiday for the experience and from... More

The hotel was very easy to find - right next to the Santa Lucia train station. No need to drag bags around! The breakfast was also quite filling (a breadbasket, selection of meats and cheeses, as well as cereal, coffee, juice, yogurt, and fruit). After filling up on breakfast, you can take a walk to the near Canaaregio neighborhood or... More

Travelling Europe by train can sometimes be a challenge! In Venice you simply cannot get closer to train station Santa Lucia than this hotel. Rooms are tiny but have everything you could ever want for a peaceful night's sleep! Breakfast was very nice. You are virtually at the Grand Canal - making day excursions easier.

I booked his hotel online a short time before I arrived there by train in Venice. You can not get much closer to the train station. Not even a 5 minute walk. Upon arriving the staff there was very polite, and I could see they wanted us to enjoy our stay. I stayed in a triple room and size and... More

Our first introduction was a friendly welcome. However after lugging our cases up a very narrow stair case, we found a very very tiny room, nothing like the photo in our booking information. We also had a tiny double bed,not the description given to us.The mattress had lost its form and we had very uncomfortable and disturbed sleep. Manager dismissed... More

my wife and I stayed at the Hotel Florida for 3 nights and were very pleased with it overall. It is not the most luxurious hotel and is a little dated but the location compensates , 2 minutes from the train station, 1 minute from the grand canal.. The breakfast was very nice and substantial and set us up for... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
