Positives. The hotel is located in a great location, close to the train station, water buses and near one of the 4 main bridges in Venice. The breakfast was perfectly adequate but basic. Ham/cheese/eggs/yougarts/breads/cereals/tea/coffees etc were available. The cereal was stale but everything else was fine. The staff were all helpful and pleasant. There are lots of restaurants and shops... More

Ideal location near to the train station and bus stop for the airport. Situated down a side passageway, and it was very quiet during our 2 night stay. Very friendly staff on reception. The hotel is spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds, free wifi, a hairdryer in the room. A nice continental breakfast is included. Overall a great place to stay.

The best thing about this hotel is its location: literally 2 minutes from the train station which is great in a city like Venice. I didn't want to drag my luggage around Venice searching for our hotel, hence we decided to stay here.. The rooms were quite big and spacious and we were even given a crib for our baby... More

It is very close to train station, and it was everything we needed, a clean bedroom and bathroom with a nice breakfast and the staff is very friendly and it has a nice environment. And waking up smelling freshly baked bread is just heaven. I would come again here.

arrive without reservation and found Hotel Florida right off the train station. Staff was lovely and so very helpful in helping with a family event that occurred when I was there. Room was spacious, clean and adequate. Room I stayed in was right on a busy morning via, which woke me early on a work day. Cost was very reasonable.... More

Room was fairly clean though my sister noticed ants in the bathroom and there was a lingering smell of smoke in there that we couldn't get rid of. The location is very good. It's within walking distance to everything in the main part of Venice (if you like walking), otherwise one of the main boat stops is right around the... More

Don't be put off by my average rating! It may have been average but for anyone wanting a cheaper but perfectly adequate hotel in Venice this would fit the bill! It's only a short walk from both railway station and bus stands, your entry to Venice from the airport (no 5 bus, single fare 6 euros). You can pay on... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
