We stayed at the Hotel Giorgione for several nights in May 2015. It is in a good location with easy access to the Grand Canal, a 10 minute walk to San Marco Square and many of the other sites. There is also a great little bar outside to grab a glass of wine and some small bites. The hotel staff... More

We were travelling in a group of six and very comfortable at Hotel Giorgione. It was convenient to the water taxi which assisted will arrival and departure. The Hotel arranged a private taxi to pick us up. It was wonderful after flying all night to have someone with a sign waiting. We loved the location. Easy walk to St Marks... More

We stayed at the Giorgione for 2 nights at the start of our honeymoon in May 2015. The hotel is well located, in a quiet area but only a short walk from the main attractions. We had a water taxi from the airport that stopped a 2 minute walk from the hotel. You can also walk to the train station... More

Just checked out from this super well run, clean & friendly hotel. Right from the start made very welcome by all on reception. Very helpful with guidance to all attractions. Rooms very clean with character and comfortable beds. Breakfast superbly laid out with plenty of variety. Only one thing I would suggest is to put cups out on tables and... More

This small, charming Venetian hotel is in a perfect location. It's close to shops, great restaurants and the Rialto Bridge. The morning breakfast included boiled eggs and was very good. We found the staff to be welcoming especially Cosimo who worked the desk in the evening. He was knowledgeable and has a genuine passion for Venice and Italy!

We booked this hotel based upon these reviews. The hotel was comfortable up to a point. We made the mistake of leaving our window open due to an anemic air conditioner. We paid for this mistake with multiple mosquito bites. Mind you the cleaning staff closed the window each day but for some reason the bites never really manifested until... More

The staff was all friendly- it does make a difference when you see all the smiley faces around. Hotel is in a good location- near the shops and restaurants. The downside is that our room was much smaller to what was presenting on the pictures. Walls was very thin - could hear neighbours talking in the morning while we were... More

Small cozy and even romantic little hotel in a great location. The staff was always pleasant and the rooms were very unique. You can tell right away that there was pride in the ownership. Was just so nice to come back to the hotel every evening after a long day of exploring Venice and you can still have wine or... More

It was delightful to spend a few nights at this hotel. Our second floor room had traditional shuttered windows and when we left them open we could watch and listen to passersby and local color. We felt immersed in the Venetian neighborhood as we observed an older woman leaning out and scolding a celebratory gondolier team. It's not smack in... More

We spent four nights at the Hotel Giorgione in Venice in March 2015. Although the hotel is located in a quiet area of the city, it is only a few minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge. St Mark’s Square is an easy and pleasant ten to fifteen minutes walk. Although our room was small, it was reasonably well-furnished and quite... More

Dear Guest Globetraveller 1, we would like to thank you for having shared your comments regarding your stay in our hotel. The structure of the hotel is an antique palace dated 1.500. An attentive restoration of the building has been made in order to maintain its beauty and charm of the ancient years, that makes our hotel quite unique! We... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
