Perfectly placed between St Marc's Sq and Rialto Bridge - each 5 mins walk in opposite directions. Hotel Breakfast was plentiful, fruit, cereals, juice, coffee, yoghurts, hams/cheese, bread, croissants, etc. Breakfast room sat about 30 people, so always busy - suggest going to breakfast early - staff were attentive at clearing tables. Airport water bus 5-7 mins walk away. Hotel... More

Once we had found this lovely hotel and settled in, having circumnavigated the narrow streets, people and many bridges with steps, we arrived with a sense of relief and found the warmth and welcome of Patricia a lovely welcome to this amazing place. The Gorizia is perfectly located just off the main drag in a quiet, tranquil little " backwater"... More

Ideal location with Rialto and St Marks just minutes away providing you can maintain your bearings! It is really a B&B as room was not big enough to spend any time in and there is no lounge/bar area to relax. Décor is traditional which can appear old fashioned. Our room (24) was a side room with hardly any natural light,... More

We really enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel. It was close enough to walk from San Marco and near to attractions or bus terminals without the noise and distraction of the main square. The directions from the website were easy to follow to find the hotel, you do wind through some streets but soon find your bearings! Staff were... More

Very easy to find, just few minutes from vaporetto stop Rialto. Nice small hotel. Rooms are kind of small but very clean and nice. Stuff is very polite and helpful. Location is the best! Just few minutes walking from St.Mark Square. A lot of restaurants and boutiques around. I recommend this hotel.

The Hotel Gorizia is a wonderful property with kind attentive staff and comfortable rooms. Thae location is great for exploring all of Venice and the staff kindly helps with directions and advice. We have stayed here for about ten years on every trip to Venice. Breakfast is very good and although the dining room is small there is always a... More

Stayed here with two other couples for a long weekend, fantastic location so central ideal for shopping, restauraunts and sightseeing. The Hotel is an old Venetian property so know there is not much they can do regards room and bathroom sizes, and although all rooms benefit from air conditioning and fridges felt the bathrooms especially the shower cubicle and shower... The advantage of this hotel is that it's five minutes walk from Rialto waterbus stops and similar distance from St Mark's Square, so great for getting around and lots of reasonably priced restaurants nearby for dinner. Room ("superior double") small, but clean an perfectly adequate; beds also small and very hard and pillow even harder but then we didn't come... More

We stayed here in March 2015. The hotel is in a perfect location in Venice, between the Rialto Bridge and San Marco. The room was pretty and the bed comfortable. Breakfast on the first morning was fine, we were welcomed and given a clean table and enjoyed the continental buffet breakfast. However, mornings 2 and 3 the breakfast room was... More

We spent two nights in this hotel. The main lures for me were the price, location, decor, and availability of a four-person room, and overall I wasn't disappointed. The room was spacious and had one double bed and two single beds (that were pushed together). The bathroom was quite spacious, though the lack of a shower curtain was kind of... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
