We loved our stay here! Only a 10 minute walk from the train station and 5 minutes to the bus stop. They were very accommodating with our early arrival and kept our bags for us until check-in, which was made earlier than normal. It's a maze to get to the main Venice attractions, but that would be the same regardless... More

We stayed here one night before boarding our ship in Venice. Pretty convenient hotel, close to Piazzala Roma, where the buses and taxis are. A little difficult to find. Close to everything. Was enchanted by our room which overlooked one of the canals. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Location on a canal right off Grand Canal. Lovely view out window of canal life in Venice. Easy 10 minute walk to the Train Station, shopping, restaurants, as well as all the vaporettis including those that go to Murano, Burano and one to the Airport. 20 plus minutes maze walk to busy St. Marks area. Count on getting lost... More

I was travelling solo for 3 days to my favourite place of all, Venice! So easy to take the shuttle bus from the airport - 20 minutes journey nonstop. This little b&b hotel is in a perfect location, minutes away from the Piazalle Roma bus station, just need to walk towards the right from the station, away from the new... More

I stayed here for 2 nights in May - booked a single room and was given a double bed which rarely happens! The room was a good size (bathroom a little on the small side but that's a niggle). The hotel is well located about 5 minutes walk from the train station and vaporetto stops - you just have to... More

Hotel interior is fascinating, we stayed in a suite, it was very clean, staff is super-friendly and helpful. We enjoyed every minute of it! The location is great too: close to the water bus station to reach Saint Marco Square and ground buses for transport to the airport. It's also close to St. Lucia train station. Make sure you have... It's a really great place to stay. We stayed just one night but it was excellent night. It's is the easiest to find the hotel if you are not well prepared but if you check on google maps before coming it's not so hard. Room was clean and comfortable. It's close to the water tram and bus station so it's... More

We stayed 5 nights at Ca dei Polo and were very happy with our choice. The accommodation was spacious and very clean. We had a suite overlooking the canal and as previous guests have mentioned it is a bit noisy. However, we felt that to be in Venice overlooking the small canal, with all the general and fascinating goings on... More

Really great place to stay in Venice. Very clean and with friendly and helpful staff the location is great for the main transport access in to Venice the Piazzole Roma. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was served in a atmospheric second floor room but could equally be taken in your room.. Very reasonably priced and a perfect... More

“Ca dei Polo” is a tremendous place; the building dated from the 15th century was extremely good renewed a few years ago with respect to the original reminiscences. The rooms are comfortable with a stress-free filing in a Venetian style; it is not a place for modernity and luxury lovers but for the one who appreciate the filing of secret... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
