Venice is not our favorite place but beyond that, our stay was perfectly fine. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The only complaint I'd have is that the staff is absent past 5 pm. If you have needs past that I suppose you need to wait until morning. Other than that, it was a fine place to stay for... More

The location is great for the main train/bus station. The room was clean and the bathroom was big than other hotel in europe. Traditional Italian breakfast, served either in your room or in the dining room. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Since we travelled by train, we decided on this B&B, as it's a short walk to the train station. We also decided to try a different area of Venice. This was our 3rd time in Venice and both previous times, we'd chosen locations near St Marks Square (this time St Marks Square was subject to tidal flooding - which is... More

Great location, walk to the station and water taxi but you can pretty much walk and see venice on foot anyways from anywhere so chose any location. I stayed in a single room which was VERY SMALL and the bathroom/shower literally was a cube, difficult to even turn without turning the water knob off, no racks for shampoo etc (and... More

One night at this wonderful family hotel was not enough. The location is so convenient, the room we had was excellent - a junior suite with three windows overlooking one of Venice's canals. We love this area of Venice because it is close to the Piazalle Roma and the cruise port. Nothing was too much trouble and all of our... More

Location of the hotel was perfect. It was very close to Piazzela Roma which is Venice main bus station and also close to vaperetto. Transfer to airport from the bus station was so easy and cheap. It was only 8 Avro one way and took only 25 minutes. Also it was within the walking distance to Rialto Bridge , Marceto and even... The hotel is the right choice. It is close to the parking - only about 300 m and this is extremely important if you come by car. Everything is nice: good breakfast, terrace overlooking the city, very friendly owners. Sure the price is relatively high - it is Venice.

Found this hotel through previous Trip Advisor reviews. It is handy to Piazzale Roma (we took the bus from the airport) and to the People Mover to the cruise port. The reception greeting was excellent and our three rooms (we were a party of six) were all very good. Excellent WIFI and a delightful breakfast served on the rooftop patio.... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
