...I will be moving into the Gritti Palace! It's not often that your anticipation of a highly rated experience not only meets, but EXCEEDS expectations. The Gritti Palace accomplishes just that. Please believe the hype surrounding this Luxury Property. Every. Single. Detail. Exquisite. Without being pretentious. Service was friendly and top notch (although if I had to make one criticism... The hotel is an old palace, so as you can imagine each room is different, and decorated magnificently. We are SPG people, so some of the accommodations(wifi....was gratis) Having breakfast and/or cocktails outside on the grand canal is a must!!! Amazing way to start the day of touring in Venice....and of course ending the day with cocktails, as the sun... More

We booked a night on points but the room wasn't one of those sad rooms they punt off to point-paid rooms, it was luxurious even with the eh-view. But I can understand those who paid for the room deserve a canal view. It was incredibly luxurious. Marble lined bathrooms, fantastic shower, high-end bath products, gorgeous fabric-lined walls, beautiful bedding and... More

We decided to take a private taxi (60 Euros) from the train station to the Gritti Palace - boy, was it worth the money! The route is through the grand canal (great sights) but also through some smaller channels, so we got a spectacular view of Venice by private boat. It was amazing. That taxi ride set the tone for... We stayed in August 2015 for 2 nights on our honeymoon. I used my Suite Night Upgrades and a suite was guaranteed a few days before our arrival. When we arrived we asked the hotel to send a boat to pick us up from the parking lot. This was a really nice way to arrive and the hotel communicated very... More

We finished our trip to Italy with 2 nights in Venice. This hotel was the right choice to finish on a high note. From check in through checkout, everything was great!. The room was very nice and breakfast was outstanding. Sitting on the Grand Canal with the sun rising was very special and something I hope never to forget. There... More

Perfection oftentimes comes in places with Four Seasons in the name...the Gritti Palace is another of those exceptions. Just incredible. Nothing I will write does it justice. I have to admit, the pictures of the exterior did not get me excited...and I waffled back and forth on whether to book somewhere else. Forget anywhere else in Venice...plan your dates so... More

An awesome weekend during the Carnival with SNOW ! Wishing we had gone to stay for much longer, as we have to return to see so much we missed. The side streets are best for great food at good prices and where the locals eat :) although we also enjoyed meals along the Grand Canal in superb restaurants. The MASK... More

This hotel was amazing. The room was incredibly spacious, the bath was heaven. The location was unbelievable. It was right on the Canal and our water taxi from the train delivered us right to the front door. Their restaurant/bar is not to be missed as it sits right on the canal. A great place for a night cap with a... More

I was lucky enough to spend 4 nights at this SPG property and it was wonderful! From the room which was decorated like a palace...Murano glass fixtures, fabric "wallpaper," marble bath and every need thought of. Very attentive and friendly staff in a great location. High end shopping is just out your door. Do note that you can only get... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
