Top notch hotel. Beautiful details all over the hotel. Our family of five was treated like royalty. The staff brought my kids stuffed animals when we arrived. We really loved Venice and this hotel is an excellent addition to the city. Restaurant was very good as well.

At check in I must say I was a bit disappointed that our upgraded room was not with a grand canal view and/or a balcony. Both of which my travel agent had requested. Note that the prices of rooms, meals and drinks on the deck are expensive. I had learned, however, through tripadvisor reviews that the beautiful canal view will... More

Great service, great rooms, great views. It's the Gritti what else! Best breakfast in town, Gran Canal with perfect view of La Salute. Only drawback for me is the concierge, not up to standard. Not very insightful recs for dinner and lunch. Had to manage on my own.

We stayed for only one night and, if being honest, I would not choose the Gritti for anything longer than a couple of nights. The location is perfect but it is very expensive and better 5 star value can be obtained elsewhere in the centre of Venice. It was, however, wonderful to stay there and to have drinks on the... This was our 15th year holiday at The Hotel Gritti Palace. We stayed a week From July 1-8, 2015. The Gritti is a superbly beautiful hotel yet very welcoming and comfortable. For the first time we took advantage of their pickup service from the airport, which we felt was worth the 209 euro price. Reception by Massimo was seamless. It... More

We stayed at a sister property and the manager called to get us the best table in the house and were well taken care of. We walked but took the water taxi back to our hotel. Food, view and tied together for an unbelievable evening for my son and I who was taking me on a vacation of a lifetime.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 4 nights and really enjoyed it. The room was really lovely and the staff was always friendly. The only thing that went a bit wrong was our first breakfast. We went inside to the buffet and when we wanted to take our seats again, there were other people sitting there. We also had... More

We came to Venice because of my wife -- I didn't want to go back. I was so wrong. And the Gritti Palace proved me wrong. It is everything I could want in a hotel: refined, impeccable service, right on the water, amazing views, good food... the list goes on and on. In the room, we marveled at the appointments... More

Beautiful, old-world charm. Impeccable service. Friendly, outgoing staff. Well-appointed rooms. On the Grand Canal, next to vaporetto stop. Great fitness center. Expensive? Yes, but worth it. This is a world class property with world class service.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
