The hotel was good, our room was nice but there were issues with the second room. The carpet was stained and needed renewing. No tea and coffee facility in the room. The staff were very helpful and polite. Breakfast was included in the price which was a buffet style breakfast of good quality. In summary we would stay here again.

This wouldn't be considered nice by Western standards but it is in Venice and very old. The staff spoke good english and the rooms were clean. The shower was barely large enough for me to fit in and I am not a big guy. Good hotel for the price and location.

This hotel is very close to the train station and it only takes 10 minutes to drag your cases there yourself rather than paying a porter. We had a rather disappointing start to our stay when we arrived and were told they only had space for 1 of the rooms we booked and that the other room they'd secured in... More

The Hotel was a long way from any of the central attractions of Venice. Our room number was 251, It was in much need of refurbishment, the bedroom overlooked the back yard of another property and was full of beer crates and lots of rubbish so we never opened the curtains. The bathroom needed ripping out and replacing, awful blue... More

Lovely hotel in a fantastic location with lots of good places nearby to eat and drink. The breakfast was first class. There was an heat wave on when we were there and the hotels air con was superb. We had a room facing the main street which was very spacious and light and you could not hear any noise from... More

We were holidaying in Tuscany and our son desperately wanted to visit Venice. An overnight trip was decided best so we booked a day before and Amadeus had good rates on the two rooms we required. Clean tidy rooms, on 4th floor and ready on arrival just after 1pm. Views were beautiful and bathrooms large and spacious. Breakfast was plentiful... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
