We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, staff was really kind and helpful. They offered us a Venice map which guided us for the whole stay. The room was not well mantained, air conditioner only worked for heat, there was a heater in the bathroom that we had to ask to turn it off. The view from our room... More

We know the hotel rooms in Europe (compared to Asia) are only so so and didn't expect too much as we wanted something close to the Train station. (My husband had just sustained an knee injury just before the trip and was in a wheel chair.) The room in terms of decor and amenities were acceptable. The furniture and carpet... More

We stayed at the Amadeus for 5 nights in March and it was the great time to visit Venice if not a little cold but the crowds were not too bad and we got to do everything we wanted and would have loved to stay a few more days. The hotel was really nice and the staff were very helpful... More

Great location. 5 minute walk from Railway Station and easy to find. Great delis nearby with reasonable price food. Easy walk over the island from this location. Staff very friendly. Breakfast huge choice from cereal to hot dishes. Huge rooms with patios outside rooms. We enjoyed drinks in the cold winter evenings on the patio. Pity they didn't provide a... More

I've chosen this area mainly due to its proximity to Santa Lucia train station as I was coming from Rome to stay in Venice for one night then off to Milan. It was only 5 minutes walking from the train station and you don't have to worry about dragging your suitcases in the city of bridges. The hotel was lovely... More

Close to the train station and right in the heart of the busy streets! Hotel staff were friendly and attentive upon check in and coming and going. The room had a decent amount of space around the bed, which was great to store our luggage and belongings. The biggest let down was the bathroom size. There wasn't much room at... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
