Myself and mum (aged 23 & 62) enjoyed 4 amazing days in Venice, made all the more special by this wonderful hotel. Booked as a birthday surprise for my mum, the hotel made every effort to make our stay unforgettable - all the staff were so friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay perfect from the moment... Lovely hotel in great location. We could see the canals from our room. Went on a gondola ride straight past our hotel one night which was lovely. Arrived directly to the hotel by water taxi when we arrived. Very friendly helpful staff with good English. Beautiful and Romantic.

Stayed in the Annex and it was a great room. The breakfast left a little to be desired but overall we had a good stay. Easy walking distance to San Marcos square, also lots of restaurants and shops near by. Highly recommend taking the motor boat tour that the front desk offers, very reasonably priced and got a great tour... More

This is a wonderful hotel tucked away on a canal close to San Marco: the canal view is down to the Bridge of Sighs. We stayed in two canal-front rooms (after being up-graded), individually decorated in typical Venetian style, very comfortable and spacious with marble bathrooms. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included. We felt so at... More

After 12 years together, 6 years married, 4 boys a dog and and a cat-Udi and I had not been away for more than 2 days at atime. We chose Venice to spend our real honeymoon/actual anniversary. I wanted it all to be perfect and went over soooo many hotels. The reviews here really helped. I wanted to be spoilled... More

It is very romantic place! We came on the boat-taxi straight to hotel, which is located just next to St.Marco square. It is look exactly as on all advert pictures and even better. You have to be realistic and should not expect a spacy room in such an old buildings. Important that everything works there, it is very clean, etc.... More

The canal view room I stayed at, was so beautiful, decorated like a King's room, Venetian style. The ceiling was so high, which made it even better. The bathroom was very big and modern. The view of the canal was amazing, however only possible if I stuck my head outside the window. They have the best location, 2 minute walk... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
