The room was very nice, there were tiny ants all over though but still nice. only complaint would be that the bar prices were a bit steep and the double mattress was two twin mattresses pushed together so if you ended up in the middle it became very uncomfortable. Hotel staff were very nice, breakfast was ok. just couple croissants,... More

So after you figure out your way through Venice, which is to say get lost a couple of times this place is great it's far enough from the square and all of the chaos. The staff also gives you an option to do yours through the hotel that pick you up there so the boat tour as it was great... More

This hotel is fantastic in all ways - so close to St Marks Piazza but very secluded. We had a deluxe room with balcony with an amazing view of the Bridge of Sighs. The staff arranged a driver to the water taxi which took us directly to the hotel landing dock. The room was beautifully finished, the balcony was amazing,... More

This was our second visit to the Hotel Colombina. I love the location, so close to St. Marks Piazza but so quiet. We had a deluxe room with a view of the canal which is a major gondolier route. The rooms are well appointed, great bathrooms, and spacious for Europe. Each day I looked forward to the breakfast including scrambled... More

The hotel is a two minute walk of San Marco's square, but is tucked away from the noise and chaos. It's a lovely location. We reserved a canal view room and had two large windows looking out onto a minor canal with many beautiful bridges leading to the Grand Canal in the distance. The staff was friendly and helpful during... More

Book the main building and you will really enjoy your trip! We went for my mothers birthday however first party was in the main building second party was in the second building and third part was in the last building. The 1st and 2nd building were clean and furnished very nicely. The third building rooms are very small and too... More

We loved our stay at this wonderful little hotel - great position, helpful & friendly staff, clean & with a few lovely added little luxuries thrown. Breakfast was ample with good choice & our room lucky for us had its own roof top terrace. Thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Venice

The hotel staff are wonderful, friendly and go out of their way to help you get settled.Very good dinner recommendations from the front desk staff. We were able to go on a tour of the Grand Canal arranged by the hotel and... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
