I selected the Colombina Hotel for our 2 night stay in Venice at the end of July 2015 and do not regret it for one minute. The hotel has a charming Venetian decor, the room (double room) was comfortable if a little snug by South African standards but as we spent little time in the room, it was more than... More

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Colombina for our anniversary trip to Venice. Having arrived by private water taxi from the airport - which I would highly recommend - we stepped off the boat and straight into the hotel. We were greeted by friendly staff and blissful air conditioning. We were shown to our room - 405 -... More

So enjoyed our stay at Hotel Columbina even if it was just one night. The staff was extremely helpful in planning our one day in Venice. The room was beautiful and spacious. I would highly recommend staying here, but make sure you spend more than one night in Venice.

A beautifully refurbished boutique hotel at a reasonable price. The hotel oozes old world charm. Our room overlooked a main canal busy with gondolas. It was fascinating watching them navigate the canal from room 104.Great location. Very close to St. Marks square. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The manager, fillipi was a delight.the breakfast buffet was excellent. On a prior... More

Hotel Colombina was the perfect choice for our too short stay in Venice. The location is perfect. A three minute walk to San Marco Square, yet away from it all. Located on a gorgeous small canal, one can see the Bridge of Sighs from your room window. The staff is professional and helpful. The decor and ambiance is what you... More

We stayed here for a few nights on our honeymoon. I think the service is impeccable-staff were so friendly and accommodating especially Alessandro. We would recommend this hotel to anyone- location perfect, restaurants everywhere, Rialto Bridge a few minutes walk. Recommend the private water taxi to hotel from Marco Polo airport- very efficient and romantic to pull up straight to... More

We stayed for two nights in early July.We arrived from venice mestre by train & water bus and then a short walk through St Marks square. You can hire porter after getting down at San Marco pillar if you have too many luggages. You can arrive by watertaxi as well at a higher cost. The room was well designed and decorated with... More

Most certainly an hotel I will stay at if we go back to Venice. Right on the canal and 2 mins from St Marco square. Rooms are fairly small but well appointed (unless you book the annex where the kids stayed which was huge by Venetian standards). Staff at front desk friendly and knowledgeable. Delivered to hotel by water taxi!... More

My family and I recently stayed at Hotel Colombina, and had a wonderful experience. The staff was very accommodating, setting up water taxis and tours, and the hotel itself was beautiful. Our room was very well appointed, and the child bed we requested for our son was top notch - they even provided a little pillow and blanket for him... More

We had a room overlooking the canal...the view was just beautiful! The room was lovely and clean and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The staff was gracious and very helpful recommending a wonderful restaurant for dinner within a short walk. They also arranged for a gondola ride starting directly from the hotel's private water-landing...just perfect!... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
