Despite their advertisement that the hotel is air conditioned the system is currently non-operational until owners authorize its use. Translation: Rooms are unbearably hot and the staff (politely) advises that they can not turn the system on until a supervisor ( who is not available ) says it is ok. Otherwise the location is as advertised, on the square, which... More

I have stayed here three times over 3 decades and I think it remains the only hotel that actually overlooks (part) of Piazza San Marco. I sought (and paid extra) for a room on the Piazza, which in my circumstance made it a little noisy. But the hotel is small, elegant, expensive, and close to everything. I like that the... More

We got a queen bed and a pullout sofa for our 10 yo son. The room is nicely furnished and very clean. A little small but it's Venice. The bathroom is nice and comes with a big bathtub. My sister had a triple room at the same hotel and it was nice also. From the time we arrived to the... More

First of all, this is one of the best locations imaginable. Literally just a few feet off San Marco Square. Secondly, the rooms are very comfortable. We booked a triple (traveled with our granddaughter) and everyone had enough room, toiletries, etc. We loved the big windows that could be opened to hear "the music of Venice" - or closed to... Great little hotel tucked away in the corner next to the beautiful San Marco Basillica. A great position for exploring Stunning Venice. The staff should be congratulated by the management for their helpful manner and friendliness. Although the basic rooms are small they are kept very clean by staff. Will definitely return.

This is a great hotel in a fantastic location, you couldn't ask for a better location just of StMarks square. It is situated just of the hustle and bustle of the square with all the main attractions only a short walk away. The rooms were OK, decorated in the usual venetian manner, the staff very friendly and the restaurant served... More

First impressions of the Hotel were good until we saw the room they gave us, basic is not the word, no comforts at all and our window literally faced a wall and roof it was so close to our window and looked down onto an alley, you had no view and it was stifling hot in the room. After complaining... More

Great convenient location right next to St Marks square. A 5 minute walk from the water bus. The rooms are small but clean with basic furniture and the room we had (307) was adequate but very noisy. Every hour on the hour we heard the bells from two local churches which made it impossible to sleep. We stayed in March... More

Located on the corner of San Macro the location could not be better, you can sit over breakfast in the restaurant and watch the happenings in the square. Staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us. Unprompted advice available about what might be happening each day, delightful decor and a comfortable bed of considerable size. Food is... Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
