Glad we were with a tour when we stayed here because the elevator rarely worked and the staircase would have been a challenge with our luggage. The tour company handled all porter services for us so we only needed to use the stairs to go up and down to our room. The room was extremely small and the shower in... More

Not far from the bus station, just on the entrance of the animated lista di spagna (street), a vaporetto (waterbus) just across the street. If you wanna to have a room just next to canal, it might be the right hotel for you. But the hotel has a nice comfy room (not just a tiny room european standart + good... More

We stayed in this hotel using an offer via hotwire and found the location to be close to the station however the air-conditioning in our room did not work and after asking many times for it to be fixed gave up. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in room and we couldn't open our window as it was... More

We arrived by train to Venice. Hotel is near the station. We walked with our luggage about 5 minutes and found the hotel. Air conditioned in the lobby. I dont remember the name of the guy from the front desk but he was superb. Gave us nice rooms and recommendations about the area. He even helped us book an opera... More

The hotel is very close to transportation and right across from one of the main bridges of the grand canal. Our room and bathroom were both very large and very clean.we stayed in 509 so our room was on the top and rear of the hotel but we still had a beautiful view and terrace. The kitchen staff was amazing... More

We stayed here for 3 nights back in March. The location is fantastic & an easy base to see all of Venice. The hotel is adequate & the rooms are what i expected, small but city hotel rooms are. I really liked the decor im the reception & found it every charming. I would stay here again, the staff were... More

Certainly a great location close to the grand canal and the main train station. I wouldn't say it was a bad hotel but for a 4 star property it's a disappointment. As others have said here, the rooms and decor are getting tired. Maybe this is just what to expect in Venice but I've stayed in better 2 star properties.... More

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for spending your precious time reviewing your recent stay here. As we have previously communicated in the last replies, we would like to remind that the building which hosts our accommodation is an XVIII century Venetian Patrician Palazzo of the Serenissima Republic. The palace is ancient so local institutes operate a strict control on... More

This Hotel is very close to the train station so you may be able to avoid paying taxis and porters for your luggage. The staff is friendly and attentive. If you book correctly you can also get breakfast included which is very good by local standards. It is also the best place to meet other travelers and learn about their... More

Our room was small, by American standards, but had a comfortable king bed. The bath had a shower over the tub, so you had to step over the side to get in/out. The ornate, heavy draperies and spread were dust and germ catchers. Water flooded the hallway and had to be vacuumed out. Food in the dining room was good.... More

Dear Guest, we would like to thank you for sharing your impressions on your recent stay in Venice. As previously published in other replies, our hotel is hosted in an ancient typical Venetian Palazzo which is preserved in its original aspect. All historical buildings in Venice proudly maintain the traditional decorations (draperies, carpets and panelled walls are elements of the... More

Hotel room is traditional and decoration is average, little old, except the carpet outside the bathroom is ripped a little we had to walk carefully, But the room is quite big we have plenty of room for two people's luggages and clothes. There's a little twin size bed inside as well so 3 guests can stay comfortably. It 's located... More

Dear Guest, thank you for spending your time publishing your experience of Boscolo Hotel Bellini. The building which hosts our hotel is an XVIII century Venetian Palazzo, so in terms of space organization and architectural/structural aspects it has been strictly preserved in its original shape. Due to this, rooms and bathrooms’ layouts cannot be modified unfortunately, nor our three elevators... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
