From the very moment we arrived at the Hotel, the front of house staff were polite, professional and helpful. This is a grand hotel by any standard and its view over the Adriatic sea makes it hard to beat, alongside its sister hotel, the Excelsor just down the road. The hotel runs a free shuttle service into st venice -... more

We stayed here for a long weekend, planning to have some days at the beach of the Lido. The Des Bains is famous because is the hotel of Death In Venice by Luchino Visconti, and the atmosphere you'll find is exactly that kind of decadence (but you have to run, because the hotel will be transformed into a big condos,... more

I am 27 and have been going to the Des Bains with my family in the summer for all of my life. The Hotel is truly magical. The lido itself is so other -worldly and the elegance and ease of the Des Bains makes the vacation even more wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel for families. I feel like the... more

This was an excellent hotel but was let down by poor concierges and very rude waiters. We were part of a tour group and they really have to decide if they want this type of clientele or not.We were not made to feel welcome in fact the staff appeared to resent us yet the hotel and its facilities were really... more

We spent five days at the Hotel des Bains - after much debate on the merits of staying in Venice proper versus Lido - and were thrilled with our choice. The hotel (and Lido) struck the perfect balance between elegance and relaxation. I suppose if you were to look closely, you could call the hotel a bit worn around the... more

Three wonderful nights in Hotel des Bains...a very special place to be. Tastes differ: if you are looking for a perfect service, topmodern comfort, very well-kept rooms etc. , this may be not the right place for you. On the other hand: if you are looking for a nostalgic and romantic atmosphere you will not be disappointed. Even the hold-back... more

The hotel was nice. And I certainly recommend staying in Lido Beach, it was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle away from the city main area. The hotel was grand with large rooms and huge chandeliers throughout. The fitness room was nice with up-to-date equipment. The pool was nice, however no hot tub and it was generally... more

Wow! One of my fave places in the world! If you are in Venice for one night it is not your best option but if you are there to stay for a few days it is just perfect. You can get to Lido by vporetto or by the free shuttle leaving from the neighbouring Excalibur every hour. Rooms are huge... more

We too did not know that the hotel had had a recent fire. The hotel is in the process of "updating or fixing" Does not matter. We orginally booked 2 rooms, close to each other. Not only were they not close to each other, they were on different floors and different parts of the hotel they could only be accessed... more

This is a "Grand" hotel in the old style. In a good position on Venice Lido it has its own beach, gardens, pool etc. It is a very large hotel with great potential. However the hotel had sufered a fire in February and had not thought it a good idea to inform me or Expedia!! At least half the hotel... more
