We stayed 3 nights in January at this fantastic property. Located in a quiet area in the Cannereggio neighborhood, it is easily within walking distance to several areas in Venice. Upon check in, as Marriott Gold we were automatically upgraded to a superior room on the 4th floor with views of the canal. Room was large, with a king bed,... More

The hotel was great but poor food and location let it down. We arrived late so we rushed to the restaurant only 2 there. The food was very poor PLEASE use good ingredients simply it's like a poor artist using to much colour. And very expensive . The hotel is to far out it has a shuttle service but water... More

Truly a Palace, total old world charm, a 15 minute walk from the train station. Excellent quite location but super easy to see everything. Services could be a tad more accommodating. No need for the free shuttle, within 20 minutes you are everywhere!

This Hotel is in a quiet neighborhood that will require some walking or water taxis. We loved the location and the majority of the service was thoughtful. The breakfast was consistently very good with plenty of options. We enjoyed omelets, pancakes, and eggs. We are Marriott platinum members using points and requested a higher room adjoining to our children room.... More

This was my first trip to Venice in 20+ years...why did I wait so long! If flying into Venice, the hotel is the first stop on the Orange Waterbus (Vaporetto) "Orto". This stop is one block from the hotel, but no bridges to cross, so you can roll your luggage right along. On the subject of airplane connections, our departure... More

The hotel itself was beautiful and in a nice, quiet location that was still close to everything. Staff was friendly and we enjoyed our time here. However, we both needed to get work done while in the room and the wifi was so terrible that we ended up having to take our work elsewhere to finish it. I have no... More

We stayed in the junior suite with a view over the Canal (not the Grande Canal). The room was absolutely majestic. The room captured the overall feel of Venice perfectly. Laden with history in a very silent quarter (read; not boring!) of Venice. The bed was absolute heaven of gigantic proportions. I can heartily recommend this room and Hotel. It... More

We have been to Venice several times but never stayed in this part of town before. The Boscolo is a beautiful property, very quiet, with its own garden. We think in the summer this would be a fabulous location, especially since the hotel offers a motorboat shuttle to San Marco Square several times a day (do remember to book it,... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
