Helpful reception staff. Terrible room first night, very noisy above and from the lane at the side.Very poor soundproofing from ceiling. Changed to the back building next day which was far better and very comfortable. Restaurant at the front was the worst we tried in Venice. The provided breakfast was very poor and service below par.

Just returned from my stay at this hotel and would like to commend the staff for their fantastic service. At no fault of their own, due to a guest falling ill at the hotel the evening before, the hotel had to move my reservation for my first night to another hotel. They made all the arrangements for me and made... More

Spent one night after a cruise. The room was very nice, facing the canal. Newly redecorated and spacious. Below average breakfast was included. If you are the slightest bit claustrophobic be prepared to take the stairs. The elevator is very small & I mean very.

The location of this hotel cannot be beaten. Zaccaria ferry stop is right in front and St Marks square 150m away. The higher rooms (we had 401) have an unbeatable view of the lagoon and all the amazing activity that takes place there. Staff were very welcoming and the room (deluxe suite) was spacious and although a little tired was... More

Hi, I visited venice and stayed here for a night. Excellent location but rooms were pathetic. The paint on the main table in front of the bed was chipping and wearing off from the edges. The room had no charging points or sockets for charging any gadget. Each time u wanna charge ur oh or laptop .. Rush.. To the... More

At a cost of EU825 per night I had expected a little better, our room (104) should be avoided. We stayed for 3 nights but hardly got any sleep which ruined our time in Venice. This room is on the 1st floor and is right above the restaurant, people were yelling at each other until 1:00am and then the street... More

Savoia & Jolanda is situated on the waterfront (lagoon) in Venice and is just a brief walk away from St. Mark's and the Doge's Palace, gondola rides, water taxis, and sidewalk cafes. The hotel restaurant is excellent, quite popular, and has outside seating. The hotel itself has spacious rooms and is well-appointed. The front desk is helpful and friendly. A... More

Old style furnishings, very comfortable. Loved the breakfast, the breakfast staff were very nice. Reception were very efficient and helpful, full marks here. Restaurant staff at night ( the older men) were a bit grumpy, they let the side down. The location was just perfect, right at an alilaguna water bus stop so no carrying of suit cases further than... Want to get a beautiful view while having a drink and avoid the enormous prices of St Marks Square. Walk along the canal side past the Doges Palace, across two bridges and you come to the Savoia & Jolanda. Nice seating overlooking the entrance to the Grand Canal. Great service, good food and much more reasonable pricing.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
