We were due to stay in this hotel last Thursday night, however, when we arrived the front desk couldn't find our booking. After much searching through my emails it was clear that I had mistakenly booked us in for the Sunday night. Serena, the manager, could not have been more helpful and professional in this situation. She explained that the... More

We choose the hotel because it was well located for the Cruise terminal as we were arriving in Venice after a transatlantic crossing. We were delighted with our first floor room which looked out towards the garden. The room was well appointed and nicely decorated. In addition to our bedroom, we had a small ante room that contained a settee... More

This is the second time that we stay at this Hotel and have had excellent service each time. The location is 2 minutes from the Central Train Station and Water Taxi. It is an easy walk to St. Marks Square and all of the attractions in Venice. It has undergone a recent refurbishment and is in excellent condition. Breakfast is... More

It was obvious from the moment we arrived. We were made welcome, offered a place to sit and a drink if we wanted. Our room was ready and our bags were whisked away while we were escorted by elevator to our room (our bags arrived immediately) and we were delighted with the charm of the room. It wasn't large, but... More

Hotel's location is very good if you travel by train or bus (or fly). Just few steps from bus and train station. We came by bus from airport and it was easy to continue our trip by train to Florence. We had a lovely room looking to the canal. All staff was very helpful and polite. We definately come back... More

This excellent hotel is ideally situated for getting about in Venice. Close to train station, bus terminus and main vaporetto stops it is only 20 minutes walk to Rialto and 30 minutes walks to San Marco. The islands of Murano, Burbank and Torcello are within easy reach using the vaporetto (20 euros for a day ticket). The hotel is to... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
