The Best Western Olimpia is conveniently located in Santa Croce, a short walk from the bus terminal, taxi and vaporetto stops. Hauling luggage across the bridge to get to the hotel is manageable. It is also within walking distance to the train station, and you can pay a porter to help with your luggage across a second bridge to catch... More

Its a small quiet hotel. We were a large group. about 50 of us. and we were going for a week long cruise the following day. So when a large group checks in with so much of luggage, it can create a bottleneck, especially with only one person manning the small front desk. There wasn't any place to hold our... More

Great hotel in the best location possible to visit Venice in my opinion. Only 1 bridge to cross from the bus or taxi drop off, 2 from the train station. Easy to walk off into the streets of venice or get a water taxi or bus. Great staff (Robert you are a right laugh) lovely rooms and garden. And the... More

It is a 3 star hotel but I think it could deserve even a little more. The rooms are a bit aged and tiny, but charming and clean. The bathroom is really small but it features all the common amenities you'd expect. Convenient location, friendly staff, rich breakfast, a decent mid-range compromize in an otherwise expensive city.

The hotel is a short walk from the bus and train stations and just off the grand canal. On check-in they provide city maps with walking routes to key destinations - very helpful. The rooms were good sized - America standard vs European. Beds were two twins side-by-side, comfortable enough but only double, not queen or king. Bathroom was well... More

Excellent accommodation , beautiful room with a nice view over one of the canals and across to Piazalle Roma . Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We would certainly recommend this hotel and stay there again if in Venice. Hotel is extremely close to the port if you are going on a cruise.

Just couldn't find fault with this little gem of a hotel in a beautiful city. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. From the Venetian decor in the bedrooms to the delightful setting for breakfast everything was just perfect.

After a two week sailing, we returned to Venice for one night to take in the sights. It was a great hotel and great breakfast! The staff was courteous and helpful and let us store our bags while we toured Venice!

Stayed 3 nights at the Best Western Olimpia Hotel, Venice (superior room) in early August following a Med. cruise. We are a senior couple from Australia. Really enjoyed this hotel, many thanks for noting our special request and the lovely room 108 overlooking the quiet buildings atrium. In addition to the quality, service, & staff, it had LOCATION...LOCATION...LOCATION! Accessing this... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
