I spent a lot of time researching and reading reviews for our three day post cruise accommodations. This hotel was perfect! Comfortable beds, modern bath. We had a canal view, but garden views are beautiful. Wonderful breakfasts. Free WiFi that worked! Only one bridge from transportation. Short walk to Vaporetto and a leisurely walk to Rialto Bridge and St Mark's... More

Much nicer than expected. At time of making reservation we thought it would be 3.5- 4.0. On arrival confirmed the location , front desk and public areas as great. Had a double and triple reserved for grand parents and family . Rooms had more space than expected, were spotlessly clean and well furnished with nice decorating. Beds a pleasure for... More

My husband and I stayed here in September 2014 before our cruise and enjoyed it so much! The quaint rooms are so romantic and very Venizian. The customer service was also very good. We were a bit later for breakfast and missed out on the best selection of food and seating areas. The outside is quite lovely for breakfast but... More

There are no cars, or any other forms of transportation, beside gondolas and water taxis, that are allowed in Venice. With that being said, you cannot walk more than 50 meters without having to cross up and over a canal. This may not sound like a big deal, but if you had to cross town, with suitcases, it would be... The Olimpia is well placed, conveniently near long stay car park and train station. Lovely hotel with really helpful and friendly staff. Easy to walk to all locations in Venice. We would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was described as 3.5 star but it is equally as good as any four-star, and some five-star, hotels we have stayed in. This is a terrific hotel and while the outside might look quite ordinary there is nothing ordinary about the inside. The hotel was a picture, with quality furnishings and fittings, and a wonderful decor. We cannot... More

We stayed at this hotel at the end of an 11 day trip to Venice which started with a three day stay in a hotel on the Grand Canal followed by a 7 day Dalmatian Coast Cruise and one night back in Venice. The Hotel Olimpia is very well run with a friendly and capable staff. The hotel has good... More

A small hotel but very nicely appointed with a great staff and a perfect location for coming off or beginning a cruise, just across from the train station and plenty of land travel options as well as all the water travel options in Venice. A bit of a walk to St Mark's Square but plenty to see and experience along... More

Arrived at this hotel in Venice for 2 days. Do not judge this hotel by it's exterior. It is a wonderful hotel. Modern, clean and beautiful. The beds were the best I have run across in my travels. The garden at the rear of the hotel is truly beautiful.

Needed a hotel room for 4 in Venice prior to a Med cruise. Was pleasantly surprised to find this property could accommodate all 4 in a single room, albeit a queen bed and two singles (couch with trundle). Only downside is room was on far end of hotel, up two flights of long stairs, with no elevator. Hotel is only... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
