The location of this hotel in Venice was great! The service was amazing. The breakfast was good. But I must say, if you are looking for a more, "elegant" hotel, well this one is really not for you. The foyer was very nice, but the rooms were very dated. Clean, but dated. We stayed in the garden view room, which... More

It was very easy to get to the hotel from the train station. The view from our window was spectacular. It included the Grand Canal and the train station. The room was spacious and beautifully kept. The rooftop lounge was one of our favorite places to take in the beauty of Venice. We would definitely stay here again.

We liked this hotel and its location is right opposite the station so a good starting point. We were taken by water taxi here (highly expensive but then it's Venice) and the porter came and collected our bags for us. We checked in and or luggage stored as we arrived early. When we were able to get in or room... More

Great location right on the Grand Canal across from the train station and just a short walk to catch a cab or a bus. We found the room a little small and the prices a little high but otherwise it was a nice place to stay. If you sit out front of the hotel be sure and check that the... More

Lodged for 3 nites. Lovely hotel right on the Grand Canal and across from Termini Train Station. Perfect location for all methods of transportation and quaint shopping areas. Room was a little small but adequate for 1 person. Was very beautifully decorated. Need more room for clothes if you stay more than 1-2 days. Staff was very helpful and pleasant.

We spent five days at the hotel and found it very comfortable. Well managed, first class service and very well placed to explore the many delights of Venice. The rooms are on the small side but well appointed and immaculately maintained by the excellent domestic staff. An excellent buffet breakfast with a varied selection of items. Thanks to Philippo who... More

Can't argue with the location, right across from the train station. If you come to Venice by train and do not mind being far from the tourist centre, this is great. For us, it was a €5 per bag porter fee to walk 300m from the station, across the bridge and to Grand Carlton. The reception staff were helpful. The... More

We have stayed here before and looked forward to our return. There are a few things worth knowing, no irons are available in the rooms, a laundry service is offered at a charge for ironing of 8€ per shirt. Breakfast is ok if you eat lots of carbs, limited fresh fruit and only low fat yoghurts. Bacon and egg is... More

If this hotel had a staff that cared and they took care of the little details, it could be 4 or 5 stars. The gentleman that checked us in was very grouchy. This is one of those old hotels where you actually have a key to your room that you leave at the front desk (like in the very old... More

We stayed two nights prior to a cruise. Everything was what you expect of this category of hotel . There was the bonus of free Wi-Fi. The breakfast buffet was adequate but there is room for improvement. We were two bridges away from the "people mover" giving access to the cruise dock. What the reception desk did not tell us... Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
