Excellently located. Close to station and bus service from airport. Boat service is literally steps away. Clean hotel and the maid service was very good. Hotel has an ice cube maker on the first floor which we found to be very convenient in summer. Reception could have been more courteous. Were not very helpful when we needed a doctor (apparently... Having read the reviews before visiting, was a little worried, however, the hotel, whilst a little dated in places, was spotless, good comfortable beds and pillows. Breakfast was plentiful. The staff were most helpful. Wifi is a bit hit and miss, but it is available. Would definitely recommend this for a short stay.

I thought this hotel was very charming. It had that shabby chic look that I would expect of a hotel in Venice. The room we had was very clean and there wasn't any mold at all. The Air conditioning worked, but there weren't a whole lot of electrical outlets in the room for charging phones, cameras and ipads. As far... More

We stayed here for 2 nights on the last leg of our touring through Italy. It was in a very convenient location right near shopping, restaurants and bars. We did find the staff to be not overly friendly and the interior not exactly 4 star but the room was bigger than the others we had stayed in around Italy. Oh... More

Very disappointed in this hotel as this was booked through Norwegian as part of a cruise. Rooms were small as to be expected. But literally a 4 square foot shower with mold on the walls is totally unacceptable. The location was great and the breakfast was very nice as well as the public spaces. Staff was not overly friendly but... More

Stayed 1 night and was very pleased with experience. Well maintained, very clean hotel with friendly professional staff. Large relaxing lobby made wait time for train very comfortable. Large, clean bathroom in room. Located on the canal made evening cocktails while watching water traffic go by a wonderful Venetian experience. Two downsides that would not detour me from returning. 1)... More

We decided to book this hotel after looking at the mis-leading website for this hotel. The website describes this hotel as luxury however it does not tick any box in terms of luxury. I booked this trip for my husband's birthday and emailed the hotel two weeks prior to our trip- but there was no response...this was just the beginning... More

This hotel was easy to find (5 minute walk from train or 15 from bus and straight road). It's surrounded by very reasonable shops and restaurants. Hotel itself has the faded grandeur you see all over Venice- beautiful with exquisite fixtures and marbled floors but in need of some renovation here and there.Luckily we paid for a canal view and our... Location is a 20 minute water bus to Piazza San Marco but it is located close to the train station and a major stop for the water buses. Our very cute and spacious room was on the Grand Canal which was worth the extra money. Hotel staff was helpful although some were less able to speak English than others but... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
