Cosy room, quiet and central - with good infrastructure, next to train station and discounted parking nearby! Practical private water taxi possible. Breakfast up to expectations, easy to book, don't let only the foreigners enjoy it !

Yes, the hotel is old.... This is Venice after all... I adored the real character of the place... I mean where can you eat your breakfast with gondolas floating past your window...??? I found everyone cheerful and welcoming. The breakfast could be better for a four star ..it was fairly basic. The rooms were lovely and the price was excellent.... More

The location is excellent, near the Scali Bridge and Railway Station. The Principi is at the start of the walkway to the Rialto Bridge, on the Lista de Stagna, it is always very buys outside as huge of tourists either going to or from the Railway Station. Along your way to the Rialto Bridge you will pass local Venetian shops,... More

Thank you for posting our cards and having such a varied breakfast spread (more cutlery next time). We only stayed one night but everything was perfectly to our desires and we slept very well. I'd visit again.

Very nice experience during our stay. Nice and very clean room. Very nice interiors. Very courteous hotel staffs. Food was good. They even arranged a complimentary trip to Murano. I will recommend this to other travelers as well.

The hotel was beautiful! And had a great location! The hotel was decorated in old Italian style which was great and it was perfect location near the train station. The hotel staff at the front desk was not to friendly to English speaking guests. They were very short and not to helpful. They need lessons on hospitality to foreign guests!

Hotel Principe Its hard to want to find fault in a hotel of such splendid surroundings. The building is a palace in proper Venetian style with all the creaks and quirks that go with the old waterfront building. OK our double room was small, wasn't facing the grand canal and didn't even have a table, which made me think it... More

My husband, our friends and myself, stayed here 3-6 December '15, and were most impressed! Spotlessly clean rooms, fresh towels, room and mini bar made up daily! Friendly, helpful staff; no problems at all. A room overlooking the Grand Canal, and next to our friends, so watching Venice life happen was first hand! (Our husbands were amazed at the efficiency... Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
