Nice lobby and entrance. The hotel room however was awful. Barely had any running water, it was old and smelled of smoke. Location wise it's quite far from all the major attractions. We checked out after 3 hours, didn't even unpack. Disappointed to say the least.

Stayed here one night only before we picked up our cruise from Venice. Wonderful hotel a few mins walk from the railway station. Upon arrival we were upgraded free to a Grand Canal view balcony room which was magnificent, complete with huge Murano glass chandelier over the bed. Views were spectacular. Buffet breakfast was very good and staff were friendly.

We arrived at Venice early afternoon after a train journey from Lake Como Milan, we found the hotel quite easily as it was on the thouroghfare from the railway station. The booking in was carried out efficiently and our room was ready for occupation, the bell boy took our luggage to our room on the 5th floor (Room 509) first... More

Old and tired, needs to be refurbished, bathroom only had shower which was in very poor condition. Great position for all amenities one of the only good thing about this hotel. Staff on reception and in breakfast room need to be trained in customer service, and need to be polite when spoken too, not helpful when asked about ironing board and... More

Upon arrival we stowed our bags until check in and they were more than happy to do so. We also asked about an upgrade to a room on the canal, they had one available and with an additional cost the room was ours. Staff was very helpful with questions we had about the water bus and where attractions were. The... More

I know the reviews on this hotel seem to be mixed however we really enjoyed our stay. From other reviews I can see that the rooms vary but ours was perfect and a good size with a pretty big bathroom. It also looked out over the grand canal which was really nice. The staff was extremely helpful and the hotel... More

We paid a good bit more for an upgrade to this motel. It was ok, but not what I would call an upgrade. The lobby is stunning, the view right onto the grand canal amazing, the room we had was a bit dismal,,, but Venice is such a great place we spent most of our time roaming and less time in... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
