Had a small, but clean and cozy room at roof. The wifi was not very stabile in the room. Breakfast is okay, but we were not allowed to sit at the nice terrace during breakfast. As a paying customer at the hotel, I don't understand why. The location is good for getting around Venice.

A group of us were booked in this hotel through a tour and it turned out to be very nice. The location was good, you just walked out the lobby door and the street was full of shops and restaurants! Great pastry shop just 2 doors down and so was a favorite place we stopped in several times for sandwiches... More

Made a reservation months in advance for one night. When we got to the hotel we were told they made a mistake and don't have a room for us. So they got us a water taxi to take all the way to the other side to Santamarina Hotel. The Santamaria was nice but not in the location we booked. We... More

Clean hotel. We were in a 3rd floor room overlooking the street. Originally in a 5th floor room that was tiny and AC and Internet didn't work but staff was accommodating when we asked for a different room. Canal view rooms available. Close to train station. Included breakfast was bland. Eggs and bacon both undercooked. Pizza place across the street... More

Just returned from a 3 night stay. The hotel was very well located only 15 mins walk from the bus station over the bridge only and about 8 mins from the railway station. When we arrived we were offered an up grade to a room over looking the canal for £50-00 per night, before accepting I asked to see the... More

The hotel was welcoming and although it could do with updating it was spotlessly clean. Breakfast catered for most tastes and drinking coffee on the hotel terrace overlooking the Grand Canal was an experience not to be missed. The location was central for most travel needs. The trip was booked through Riviera Travel and I could not fault the guides we... More

Right near train station, easy to find. Nice breakfast with eggs, bacon, fruit. Staff is a mix of helpful (Bruno, Pasquale, female breakfast manager). Hotel is a little worn. When i reserved, double rooms were $954 a night. (which is way over priced). I paid about $200 for a single which was reasonable in Venice. I gave the person who... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
