Getting there: From airport - buy a ticket from the desk on left as you exit arrivals (15€) each for the alilaguna orange line. Follow signs for public transport and board boat, it's takes about 30min to Guglie stop. Exit boat on right, turn left at the bridge and walk about 300 metres past fruit stalls, you will see 1371... Now i understand why everyone gives this place 5 stars. Maria is fantastic! She is very welcoming and is always happy to see her guests. Lets start with the bad, it is a good, healthy walk to get to the sites and the breakfast could leave a little to be desired. Breakfast consisted of a fruit filled croissant and another... More

We loved our stay. Maria was sweet and very helpful. The day of our departure, we had to leave early to catch a flight. She gave us a breakfast to go the night before so we could eat it at the airport. That was really considerate. We will stay here again when we come back.

My daughter and I stayed here mid Dec. Maria, like the previous reviews said, was wonderful. She went out of her way to make us feel right at home. I highly recommend Aquavenice to anyone traveling here looking for a great place to stay. Our room was immaculate, beds were very comfortable and it was very quiet. The breakfast was... More

Maria the host was so sweet and kind. She recommended several great restaurants that were super close. The room was very clean and very spacious!! The breakfast was good and was served in our room, very nice touch. The view from our window looked like a movie scene. We loved Venice. Maria was also so nice to keep our luggage... More

Clean room, good heating, comfortable beds, convenient location - close to train station and vaporetto stops, supermarkets. Trattoria nearby recommended by Maria is very good. Great hosts - Maria understands the needs of visitors very well. Besides providing a lovely B&B, they also offered to let us use their private restroom after we checked out as we had a late... More

Great B&B - located just over the bridge from the train station on a bustling street. The room, which we shared with our daughter, was clean and quiet. Teresa, and her sister Maria, were very nice, helpful with directions and our many questions. We felt like we were invited into their home. Breakfast was simple, croissants and juice, with excellent... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
