We were very pleasantly surprised with Giardino Dei Melograni. The position was excellent, in the Ghetto, with lovely views over the canal. Our room was perfect with good air con which really helped in the August heat. The Kosher House is very clean and the breakfast was more than adequate.Giordana (on reception) was extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal... More

My clients and I stayed at this hotel for the kosher breakfast which did not disappoint. The rooms had a gorgeous canal view and it was a pleasure to wake up every morning on the water. The neighborhood has exciting nightlife which makes it noisy in the evenings, but you can just close your windows and get quiet. The hotel... More

Eight adults and four kids fit perfectly in the 2 family rooms at the top level. The Kosher house was an ideal set up for us considering we were 12 people. Located in a tucked area of Venice, the area is quiet and relaxing. If you walk for a minute or two, it will take you to an area where... More

Comfortable and decent sized rooms, breakfast was great (only downside was the size of the room we ate in), friendly staff- the girl at the front desk was very nice, hotel is located in the Jewish ghetto inside a quiet square with a nice restaurant across from the hotel. The restaurant at the hotel (separate business) was nice but a... More

We chose this hotel because we wanted to spend Shabbat in Venice. Since Giardino Dei Melograni is the only kosher hotel in Venice, all the roads take there. Despite the lack of competition on that specific niche, however, the hotel provides very good service and is the perfect destination for observant Jews. The breakfast included a wide range of quality... More

First of all, let me say that the young woman at reception was fabulous. Her name was Giordana and she made our stay terrific. She was helpful and recommended great places to see and things to do in Venice. We really appreciated her kindness and advice. The accommodations were lovely, right in the Ghetto. A real treat.

We enjoyed lunch here. The restaurant has just opened. Beautiful food and reasonably priced. Kosher dairy but including fresh tuna and salmon. Highly recommended especially for kosher travelers. Loading in the new ghetto. Lovely relaxed setting and excellent service.the biscotti are a must.

The hotel is located in the Ghetto in Venice. It's walking distance to the shuls and to the entire Ghetto. Food for breakfast was decent, including kosher cheese, bread, matzoh, juice, kosher milk, and cereals. Coffee and hot water on Shabbat as well. It's not a luxury hotel, but it is clean and relatively quite. I'm not sure I'd stay... More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and found it to be in a very good location, away from the hustle and bustle in a quiet area. Although the hotel was fresh and clean we found the heating was unbearably hot - and no means of altering the temperature as there wasn't a thermostat in the room. The hotel... More

One of the most pleasant places I ever stayed while travelling. Very nice and helpful staff. Perfect location: near all Jewish facilities (synagogue, restaurant, shop), easy to get from the airport by boat (by orange line), not far from train station and main attractions. Very clean, quiet, rooms are very comfortable and brand new. Kosher breakfast, candles for shabbat, even... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
