We just spent a wonderful 4 nights staying with Alessandro at his B&B in the Cannaregio region of Venice. He was a gracious and accommodating host, waiting up for us to arrive from the airport (around midnight), and providing us with a brilliant (and huge) breakfast spread each morning, that kept us full until the afternoon on most days! He... More

The breakfast is exactly look like in the picture, so does the room; very beautiful. Bed Room and bath room are both clean and comfortable. I was a solo traveler and found no hassle at all to reach to his place from the airport, very accessible! Walking distance to cool places, surrounded by decent restaurant and cafe. Nicest host of... Alessandro is a perfect host! He really cares about his guests and helped us have a terrific stay in Venice. On the first day we arrived, Alessandro recommended several restaurants and cafes according to our preference, and helped us make the reservation. He also kindly suggested us where we can visit in Venice and showed us the route carefully. I... More

Essentially in Venice you have two choices. One option is to stay in a bland hotel with identikit rooms and eat at "menu touristic" restaurants.... Or you can still be a tourist but live as close to being a local as is reasonably possible. We chose the latter and it was great. From the welcome to the facilities and breakast... More

We began our 11 night trip to Italy with two nights at Venice-BB-Venezia. We could not have asked for a better host, or better beginning to our vacation than our stay at Alessandro's Venice-BB-Venezia. After a grueling overnight flight and two train rides we arrived at Venice-BB-Venezia. Alessandro welcomed us with a snack of bread, meat, and cheeses. He offered... More

My sister & I stayed here for two nights just this week. We couldn't have asked for a Better Location, and Best of All... A Better Host! Alessandro helped us with our bags, offered us drink, salami & cheese. He provide us with a map & recommended places to dine & traps to stay away from. I would go back... More

Me and my husband stayed in the b&b for 5 nights in September. Alessandro was a great host. He welcomed us with a drink, cheese and salami. Only stayed one night but would definitely recommend this place for singles or couples. We had a very warm welcome. Great food and coffee, fabulous location. Quiet apartment, close to the train station. Alessandro's hospitality really made our stay. We loved our chats about the Italian history and culture. (Canada)

A great appartement in the middle of venice, hosted by Allessandro, who made us feel home from the moment we arrived (with cheese and wine!) He also has great knowledge of venice and was happy to share it. The next morning he made an amazing italian style breakfast that took over the entire table! Grazie mille my friend and hope... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
