Alessandro helped us discover Venice from a Venetian view, his knowledge is priceless if you want to go straight to the best coffee, icecream, restaurant, sunset.... If you like staying in an anonymous hotel then please do so, this is a place to be savoured (and not only the sumptuous breakfast!).

This is the best B&B I have ever stayed in. Alessandro is a wonderful host who told us the top local bars and restaurants to go to. The B&B is located in a slightly less touristy area which is fantastic as the restaurants are cheaper and far more authentic, but it's still a quick vaporetto ride to the main sites.... More

Alessandro is a great and friendly host and makes you feel welcome. He can recommend you all the good places to eat,or to have an icecream. And can explain how to use the public transport. The room Deluxe was, as on the pictures, lovely decorated and bright. As only 2 rooms in the BB, sharing the bathroom was never an... More

Great host. Perfect location. Not only minutes away from train station. In the middle of a hub with great restaurants and cafes. The owner pointed is to an amazing restaurant close by off the beaten track which was the best we had in Italy! breakfast is complimentary and really nice!

My boyfriend and I only spent 3 nights at Alessandro and Gina's B&B and we were quite sad leaving, since we very much enjoyed our stay there. On the day of our arrival Venice was quite flooded and my boyfriend did not have any boots to cross the deep water which barred the entrance to the building. Thankfully, Alessandro came... More

This was simply the best B&B I have ever had the privilege to stay at. Alessandro is an exceptional host with a wonderful personality and he instantly made us feel very comfortable. Although, tucked into a little alley prone to flooding, a little tricky to find and at first glance a little dubious, we left really appreciative of the location.... More

We had one night at Allesandro's B and B, which was definitely not enough time. We had a great night and wished we could have stayed longer. Allesandro was a great host and provided us with some really good places to eat close by. The breakfast was amazing, and his dog Gina was very friendly. It was a great location,... More

I had the pleasure of staying at Alessandro's place in late-November 2014. It was one of the best B&B experiences I've ever had. Alessandro is everything that a B&B owners should be: friendly, knowledgeable, and upbeat. When I arrived, he poured me a couple of glasses of wine and asked me what I was looking for in Venice. Then, he... More

Our stay at Alessandro's B&B made our quick trip to Venice truly memorable. His B&B is in a prime location; within walking distance to all the sites yet removed from the tourist-packed restaurants and bars. It is nearby the bus and train stations, making for easy day-trips or onward travel, and a few minutes from the vaporetto. At the beginning... More

If you're looking for a B&B with a very friendly and personal approach, than this is your spot. The location is great: a quiet alley in Cannaregio, not very far from the train and bus station. Some nice restaurants, shops, and the Ghetto are close by. As a former interior designer, Allesandro made a very nice and cozy BB out... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
