Sylvia was very sweet and provided a nice breakfast with many choices. We enjoyed a private room with an ensuite bathroom. The neighborhood was very quiet, but well situated near the Salute church and one vaporetto stop away to St. Mark's. The bed was very comfortable. You have to climb a lot of stairs, so if you have difficulty with... More

I went to Venice with my girlfriend for a weekend and we stayed at Ca' Santo Spirito. I booked this hotel because the prices were much lower compared to any other hotel of this characteristics (or even worse) and it had good reviews. It was a complete success! Massimo and SIlvia, the owners of this family-run hotel, made us feel... More

Charming older property in a more residential area, but just one vaporetto stop away from St Marco Square. We had a room with a private external bathroom that was a different experience but it was nice to have more privacy from your roommate, in some ways. In some other hotels, the bathroom is not very discreet anyway. The room was... More

Classic old property in quiet neighborhood with charming decor. Sylvia is a lovely and genial hostess and we enjoyed her breakfast and hospitality. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was interesting and close to vaporetto stops for easy mobility from the airport as well as to other sites in Venice.

I loved my time (6 nights) at this delightful BnB. The location is excellent, close to 2 vaporetto stops and central to all the places you may want to visit. Sylvia and Massimo were very helpful and thoughtful. Sylvia made sure I had breakfast on days that I had to leave early for business. The beakfast was everything you could... More

This was a beautiful bred and breakfasts. It was quiet but central. The decor was very charming and romantic. Breakfast was filling, and the owners were were very friendly and welcoming. Should we visit Venice again, we would be sure to stay here again.

Perfect arrangement for group of 5 with teens. Hosts are superb, and very helpful. Room is much nicer than expected, recently renovated. Great location in the city ( quiet street near S. Marcos). Breakfast is just right, at perfect time in the AM.

We stayed for 2 weeks in this very pleasant B&B in the Dorsoduro neighborhood between Santo Spirito and Salute vaparetto stops. Though it is only a 5 minute walk to the Peggy Guggenheim Museum and a few more minutes to the Academia, our bedroom facing the street was very quiet. Silvia and Massimo, the owners, go out of their way... More

Well we must have gone to the wrong house! There was certainly no friendly welcome, we had to phone them from the doorstep, eventually an assistant came and let us in; there were none of the legendary welcoming touches or coffees mentioned by previous reviewers. I mentioned in an email that it was my wife's birthday on the day we... More

Simply amazing: very clean, elegant, parts of different floors tastefully decorated in medieval Venice style, fantastic breakfast with charming hospitality of the owners. Very friendly people and when asked - happy to share their impressive knowledge of the local facilities and transport connections (i.e. Ateliers for carnival costumes, vaporettos etc). Has perfect location:seconds away from one of the most beautiful... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
