This was my first visit to Venice and the last place we stayed before flying back to the US after a 4 week trip through eastern Europe. There are many hotels in the city. I selected this hotel because it was very close to the train station where we arrived...an easy < 10 min walk down a side alley as... More

Wow! We stayed five nights in Rome and then traveled to finish our honeymoon in Venice. I wish we would have started here!!! The hotel was perfect. The room was beautifully decorated and very clean. The bathroom was very nice. I honestly didn't want to leave the room and explore Venice. The staff was extremely kind and friendly. Breakfast was... More

We choose this hotel for its convenience. Centrally located with Station and ferry station nearby. Nice greeting staff, small cozy room with private bathroom and decent breakfast. It's not a luxury hotel but a small decent, neat and clean hotel for budget traveler so please don't expect too much luxury. Overall nice experience and recommend to all those who want... More

This small friendly family run hotel is ideal for a quiet break in Venice. You fly in and then get the bus... The hotel is then 300 yards from the bus station and 200 yards from the train station... It is situated on a small side street so is away from the hustle and bustle outside and although close to... More

This is a small hotel near to the railway station, so it is in a very convenient location near to the Grand Canal and the water buses. The reception staff were very helpful and offered good advice about restaurants and transport arrangements. The breakfasts were good and plentiful and the 'barista' made excellent coffee. We stayed in a superior room on... More

This is our second stay at La Locanda Di Orsaria. Last time was in a standard room, this time in a superior room. We loved it last time...we loved it even more this time! The room was absolutely beautiful...quite spacious for Venice and the location could not be better. Step off the train at Santa Lucia station and you only... More

Terrific gem in Venice! Ilaria was extremely responsive in the process of making the reservations and keeping track of when we were arriving. The recommendations for restaurants for dinner were outstanding. They also made the reservations for us. The morning coffee/cappuccino was made to order by a first-class barista. The breakfasts were generous. The location was perfect; just a few... More

This was our first time to visit Italy and the first stop in a tour of several Italian cities. The hospitality of Sabrina, Stefania and the Barista (didn't catch his name) were wonderful. Sabrina & Stefania were wonderful and always very helpful and attentive. They never made us feel like we were bugging them when we asked multiple tourist type... More

One of the best hotels in Venice. Very close to the train station (less than 2 mins walk) which makes it also close to water taxi stops the bus stop as well. The hotel is very clean. Staff are very friendly and the breakfast served is really amazing. Me and my family have enjoyed our stay here and would definitely... More

The best part of the hotel was the location. It's two mins walk from the station and the water taxi stop which was very convenient. The rooms are cute and decent size. The staff was very helpful and they helped us plan a trip to murano burano. The breakfast is average, no eggs or scrambled eggs. Overall good experience.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
