We arrived in Venice by train directly from Rome Fiumicino Airport trip and had an easy 5 minute walk from the station to A La Locanda di Orsaria situated on a quiet street. Don't be afraid of the stairs if you really want a room with charm on the 2nd floor. We carried our own bags (hubby's bag was huge)... More

We had a marvelous time in the Locanda di Orsaria. The Hotel is spotlessly clean really quiet and the rooms are very comfortable. The staff of this hotel are the real stars of the show. Renato and his three graces, Ilaria, Sabrina and Stephania nothing is too much trouble and the information about local dining and drinking was invaluable, we... More

This hotel is a gem in Venice. Priced moderately, about 5 minute walk from the Santa Lucia train station, it is a very comfortable hotel. The staff is very helpful and full of recommendations for a typical Venetian meal.

This hotel is a 5 minutes walk from Santa Lucia Station. Clean, quiet and large room. Mr Renato who serves breakfast is great, althought breads are not so fresh. The negative point is the lack of lift, I had to carry my heavy luggage upstairs. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

I've been staying at La Locanda for over 10 years now and the service, cleanliness, and friendliness of the team is always first class! It's a great value and so close to the train station! The staff is always providing directions and ideas of where to go and what to see.

Just come back from a couple of nights in Venice and we loved every minute of our stay. This hotel was perfect for us. Located in a lovely little side 'street' and with the most helpful staff you could imagine. Nothing was too much trouble. The owner, Renato, was on hand for both our breakfasts and is a true character... More

I recently stayed for two separate visits and enjoyed myself immensely. The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast served had the most amazing array of fresh baked goods and the owner was there to make sure everything was just right. The location can't be beat as it is right next to the train station but extremely quiet. My... More

Situated right next to the train station it is a perfect base to explore Venice from, just a short walk into the centre but just far enough away from the busiest streets to make it tranquil. The staff are welcoming and friendly. Our room was big and well equipped. We never managed to eat all of the array of cakes... More

Found this lovely, small family hotel in Venice quite by accident. Needed a place to stay that was close to the train station, airport bus and the vaporetto network. This place fit my needs perfectly. What a surprise to find that the place and location were perfect for my needs. Greeted by Stefania and was provided excellent service from all... More

We stayed at La Locanda di Orsaria on October 17 for 3 nights in 2 deluxe rooms and were greeted by Stefania, with a big smile. The rooms were just as described, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The gentleman who managed the dining area and coffee was terrific and totally enjoyed himself. He offered at least... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
