Visited in May 2015. Stayed on the 1st floor with a canal view. Went ooh, wow, for the 1st 5 mins, took the photos, then closed the windows to block out the noise (very effective). 2 days later just before we left, we did the same thing. Most of our time was spent out of our room. After dinner out... More

My husband and I have just come back from a 3 night stay at the Rialto Hotel where we were celebrating my 60th birthday. We have stayed at this hotel before, last time 8 years ago. After recently seeing a couple of bad reviews I had become slightly concerned. Fortunately I had no need to worry, it was every bit... More

Great old hotel. Beautifully located close enough to enjoy a walk down to Dan Marco square and to stroll along the Grande Canal. Small but clean and neat rooms very professional staff. Try and prebook a room with a view? Great breakfast before a busy days stroll. Right opposite Rialto bridge and a small walk from the Rialto river bus... More

First of all I have to say that hotel location is perfect, hotel rooms are very beautiful, friendly staff, and good cleaning and service. We tried to book an specific room with anticipation because we falled in love with it, but hotel stuff didn´t guarantee its avaliability although it was free, so it was a bit suspected for us but... This was a perfect hotel! Everyone was very nice, and they fulfilled our request for which room we preferred. Gorgeous view, and easy to locate because we could always follow the signs to the Rialto bridge! Perfect little cafes below. We enjoyed every minute, and never wanted to leave!

1: Describe the service you experienced. The check in and out was easy and efficient the reception staff organising our bags to be taken to our room. On the other times we had to ask questions about getting around and such they reception staff were a little lost as their grasp of English was very poor. 2: Tell us how... More

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location was excellent with the Rialto Bridge as a landmark and all transport just outside the door. The room was decorated in Venetian style and was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and, while it was not sumptuous, it was perfectly adequate. the staff were very professional and exceptionallyhelpful.

Perfect location & handy to everything. Was put into Rialto House but view & room was amazing. Service from everyone from young man looking after the room to reception was sensational! Ferry stop at front door & a tip for travellers, get a ferry pass daily or 2/3 day pass. This will include taking your bags to hotel if staying... More

We were looking for a hotel that we could take our toddler to. We wanted quick access to the sights with the possibility of getting back to the hotel quickly if he needed to nap. It was a really fantastic location. We had a lovely view of the main canal and it was a short walk to All the action... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
