We were travelling with my daughter and her husband. Because we were working on a strict budget we book a quadruple room at this Hotel. Because we missed our early train from Milan to Venice we arrived at the Hotel when it was already dark. After pulling our heavy suitcase through tourists and up and down stairs and bridges, we... San Zulian hotel is a small and friendly place to stay in Venice. It is in the area of San Marco in the centre of Venice only 2 or 3 minutes walk from Saint Mark's square and the Rialto bridge walking in the opposite direction. The hotel is located right next to a church which also has the name of... More

This small hotel is very close to San Marco Square and a short walk to the Rialto Bridge. The winding narrow alleyways make it hard to find the hotel initially but once a person gets used to the surrounding landmarks, it's easier to find one's way. The breakfast area is very cramped and the breakfast itself is spare but the... More

Very close to San Marco, take a boat there across the lagoon from the airport. Lots of pleasant eating places nearby. Breakfast was plentiful, nice coffee, fruit and savouries. You can walk along the fron around Venice.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel, the room was clean, comfortable and quite roomy. The dining room where breakfast was served was very small and cramped. The staff were polite but I wouldn't class them as friendly. It is in a great location very close to St Marks square.

We were in the annexe & had a very large suite with a sitting room & entrance both with seating, we were 2 couples travelling together but the only slight problem was that the only toilet was in the bathroom & an additional separate toilet would have been an advantage

Our room was around the corner and up a back alley, which backed onto other restaurant kitchens. We were infested by mosquitoes, we bought a spray ourselves to spray the room. The wall safe did not work. We asked to use the bar at 10pm we were taken through a door in the hotel marked bar and into to the... More

I’m so glad to have found this hotel. Our room was very comfortable, with a modern bathroom and nice shower stall. The bed was harder than what we’re used to. It had a modern hairdryer, which was a rare find in our travels in Italy. Unfortunately, ours didn’t work, but I had my own, so it wasn’t an issue. The... More

We have just returned from our four night stay at San Zulian. Prior to our stay, I emailed the hotel direct requesting a top floor room (the reason for this were previous comments made about the noise outside) and our request was duly noted on check in, however, the gentleman on reception saw that I was walking with a walking... Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
