Luckily I got one of the new rooms. Very clean and comfortable. Staff at reception was very helpful. A great plus is 2 min walk from train station. No porters required. Such a vibrant Street the hotel is in. Breakfast by the waterside in Venice 👍

the Continental was very beautiful and in a great location. The rooms are very small, but the view is unbeatable. I would recommend for a short stay only. Walking distance to the train station and many shops and restaurants. Staff was very friendly and they do offer free wi-fi

i was surprised how helpful and friendly the service was altho Hotel Continental. If you are arriving by train or leaving by train the location is excellent. The rooms are little dowdy. The bed, in the case of my room was not that great with lumpy on mattress but on the other hand the linens were of a very high... More

They gave me a corner room with a nice view of the canal. The room was larger than I expected, though the carpet and walls could use some upgrades. The bathroom had a bathtub and a shower, but no shower curtains. So taking a shower without getting water everywhere was a bit of a challenge. The staff were very nice... More

Lovely place, nice modern decor. Great breakfast - hubby (and I for that matter!) especially loved the eggs and bacon! Might be a bit grubby in places but I am not the cleanest/tidiest plus I always view hotels as a place to lie ones head and in that respect it was fantastic! Comfy bed, comfy pillows, wonderful light duvet just... More

We had a great time in Venice and the hotel helped a bunch. Clean, good beds and nice people. The location is perfect to go anywhere. We took the water bus and when to St. Marco and Murano with a day pass. Internet was OK speed but consistent. Did not spend time eating the comp breakfast but found a fun... More

Located on the Grande Canal not far from the train station. Easy access to the Vaporatte (water bus) and water taxis. You can walk to many restaurants or use the one in the hotel and eat on the canal.

We had a wonderful four night stay in the Continental. It's position is perfect as we arrived by train and left on the bus which headed for Marco Polo. An easy walk to both with suitcases. Our bed was extremely comfortable, with excellent quality bedding. The room had shutters, curtains as well as double glazing so a quiet, dark night... More

What can you say when you open your window and look right down into the Grand Canal? If you go out the front door, you're on a major walking street with restaurants, shopping and the train station nearby. (Remember, city centers in Europe are nice and desirable locations) The hotel is minutes away from a ferry taxi dock that will... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
