Fancy a night on the Grand Canal open the window and you see the daily life on the canal, absorb the atmosphere of Venice yet close to the usual tourist sights. The room is large, the hotel dinner is good quality and reasonably priced, breakfast is also good. Bathroom or more particularly shower is in poor condition and needs renovation.... More

Best Location. Located in the city center , 02 minutes walk from St.Lucia Train station. All shops for souvenirs around you with all restaurants & cafes. It is also 2 minutes walk to Rialto Bridge. Most of the rooms are Canal View. The staff are professional and helpful. The Breakfast is very delicious with variety, you can take your breakfast... More

Good: It is very close to st. Lucia station (about 3-5 mins walk with luggage), no need to cross bridge. A lot of restaurants nearby. The hotel is antique. Bad: The staffs are not friendly. We requested for the wifi password and the staff just throw out 3 slips without looking at you. We didn't request for the bellboy service... More

Dear Guest, I’m very sorry to read your disappoint but your complaint does not describe the reality of our hotel. Our hotel has 93 rooms and all of them are different one from the other because our hotel is located in an historic palace and to reach some rooms can be difficult mostly the first time. Also for this reason... More

As has been mentioned in other reviews, it's alarmingly easy to get lost trying to find your room in the Hotel Continental. This is due to the hotel being made up of 3 (I think) building knocked together. That's part of the charm of the hotel though, and seems to be a representation of Venice itself! The reception area is... More

We booked last minute while in transit in Frankfurt, and based on the online photo, we thought the hotel was on a square. Turns out the hotel ran from the square right to the Grand Canal and we were lucky enough to have a corner room overlooking the Canal. What a treat! Room was small by North American Standards, but... The hotel is really well located, close to the train station and vaporetto stops. Breakfast on the terrace on the Grand Canal is an awesome experience. Room was nice, clean and very well equipped. Building is a bit strange (2 different buildings united together to make an hotel), so it can be a maze to find your room from the... More

When we arrived in Venice we weren't originally staying at this hotel. The place we had booked turned out to be a bit creepy and filthy. We wandered around and were able to get the last room at Hotel Continental. This hotel has very kind, helpful staff and is in a great location! We spent two nights here and enjoyed... More

A three nights stay, pleasant, friendly people, well located close to the train station, nice breakfast but you have to pay attention to the pigeons. Did not try the restaurant. We would go back there.

very good located 4**** hotel, near vaporetto station, near train station, great breakfast on the terrace right next to Canal Grande, friendly staff, tidy room and bathroom. Good food for reasonable price at the restaurant. Be sure to make a reservation if you want to have dinner on the terrace.

This wee hotel was in a fab location. Right on grand canal. Easy access to all attractions and trains. Breakfast selection great. Highly recommend for short stays. Staff were friendly. Room small but adequate. Markets and eateries right on door step.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
