Really great little hotel, staff very friendly, they even gave us a free upgrade with a canal view which was lovely. Ideal for easy access to the station, but in a nice, quiet location. Room a good size and very clean. Would definitely stay here again.

Really nice little place, quiet and within easy reach of main drag. Friendly and helpful staff, generous breakfast and comfortable beds. Not all rooms have their own bathroom and this is the cause of a lot of noise especially if other guests are up late and slam doors as they use the bathroom. Walls rather thin so you share your... This hotel was nice, but I don't know that I would rush back to stay there again, except that the owner and staff were very helpful and accommodating. The room was fine. Pretty clean. It had a nice view overlooking the canal. The breakfast was nice. We were only there for 2 nights, so it was fine. If we had... More

We arrived late and were made to feel welcome by the night staff who helped carry our bags to our room. The hotel is family run and all the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms, although small, are clean and comfortable and the choice of food for breakfast is very good.

On arriving early at the hotel we were given a choice of three rooms, the superior double reviewed earlier ( noting observations of stairs down to en suite we declined) a double with private bathroom( prefer en suite) or a studio up the Calle. Although looking a little traveller worn it suited our requirements, very quiet, lots of space and... More

My husband booked a dual trip to Paris then Venice to celebrate my 50th birthday, and his a year earlier. First impression was very favourable, nice welcome by friendly, helpful staff. We were offered an upgrade to a larger room for €30 each night (we were staying for 3 nights) we were offered the bedroom on the top floor, which... More

We arrived at the hotel early in the day, and we were accommodated right away. That was very nice. Everyone was very friendly, gave us recommendations how to get around. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. We had a small terrace with nice panoramic views. We will definitely stay here again.

We booked a Superior Triple at Hotel Hesperia for two nights in March. For the price (about $200 per night) we got windows overlooking the Cannaregio Canal, en suite bathroom, free wi-fi, and two beds, one double one twin. The room was very small but clean, modern, and quiet. We were allowed an early check-in by the friendly and accommodating... More

Our group of six stayed here for two nights and what a find! This is a lovely, charming hotel with fantastic hosts, especially Martina, who was always so friendly to talk to and has fantastic local knowledge. We had two double rooms and a twin room, all of which were a good size, but with small bathrooms which is the... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
