The staff were very welcoming upon arrival. The room had a lovely view of the canal outside. The room, the breakfast and the ambiance were all great. When we had a problem with noisy room neighbours it was sorted out immediately for us. The staff really couldn't be more helpful. We will certainly return to stay again in the very... More

Great location in a quieter area away from the crowded parts with lots of nice restaurants nearby which the very friendly helpful staff were happy to recommend. The hotel is close enough to walk or catch the local water bus to the main sights. Although there is no lift the front desk staff were more than happy to carry bags... More

We visited Venice for two of the hottest days in July and were so happy to have stayed at this little gem. The location is very close to the train station ( and there is even a little shortcut if you ask at the desk). The ladies were very helpful and told us about getting to Murano (glass) and Burano... As a first timer in venice, we checked in relatively late in the night, nevertheless we were still warmly greeted and checked in in the middle of the night and was told about all the services. Jacopo told us everything we needed to know before arriving to our room. he was very welcoming and we didnt have a problem communicating... More

Very convenient location not far from the railway station, gondolas and water taxi to St. Marks. WiFi password system was a bit wierd but all worked. Good, solid breakfast every morning and you can sit outside. Rooms comfortable with A/C. Lots of restaurants. markets etc close by on both sides of the canal.

What a pleasant place, rooms are pretty basic but clean and cool, staff very friendly and helpful. In a peaceful area next to the canal and about 1.5 miles from St Marks Square. Plenty of bars, restaurants and shops around and close to the railway station just a 5min walk or a pleasant trip from the airport by water taxi which... More

What a lovely place! Charming staff, very good breakfast, a home away from home on the Cannaregio Canal. Loved watching the canal traffic from our window! The location in Cannaregio has the advantages and drawbacks of being away from most of the main tourist attractions. But it is very close to the Jewish ghetto, very close to vaporetto stops, and... Away from the main action a little and very quiet. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was simple and felt like a country hotel. Overall a great stay and would stay again. The staff recoomended a terrific restaurant on the canal away from the hustle and bustle of the main stretch.

A short 8 minute walk from the train station. The ps near there. In a more local area of Venice close to amazing dining and sights without the craziness of staying in a touristy area. Clean and quiet.

Very nice stay for three nights in Venice. It was easy to find not too far from the train station and a light walk to all major sights. We had a wonderful room with a view of the canal and the staff was very pleasant and helpful with all aspects of our stay. And the breakfast was a great way... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
