A short 8 minute walk from the train station. The ps near there. In a more local area of Venice close to amazing dining and sights without the craziness of staying in a touristy area. Clean and quiet.

Very nice stay for three nights in Venice. It was easy to find not too far from the train station and a light walk to all major sights. We had a wonderful room with a view of the canal and the staff was very pleasant and helpful with all aspects of our stay. And the breakfast was a great way... More

Good location, super friendly and helpful staff, nice room. Clean, quiet, lovely stay. I would recommend. No bargain, but nothing in Venice is a bargain -- except the history and culture and canal walks.

We are 2 Australian couples and I'm Italian. 1) The place doesn't have a lift and also provided us with poor breakfast. 2) Our air conditioner broke and leaked over all our clothes and suitcase whilst we were sleeping. When we woke up and realised what had happened, I went downstairs and advised the lady at reception immediately. She responded... More

Dear Sir, in reply to your points : 1- we do not have lift as a lot of hotel in old building in Europe, this is written everywhere but you are using tripadvisor only now to write and didn't read it in advance to know the other guest comments. You were travelling with 2 small trolleys and as you mentioned... More

We went for my wife's special Birthday to the very romantic city of Venice, We arrived Monday July 20th. We felt at once at home in this hotel Very friendly family and staff! The hotel has a nice romantic atmosphere inside, (Probably) Venetian glass lights, very nice. Accommodation: There's no lift, and when it is warm then you miss it...... More

This was quite walkable from the Santa Lucia train station, a big advantage, no bridges. Hesperia is on one of the lesser canals with just enough boat traffic to enjoy watching. There were 4 restaurants with tables outside on the wharves which provide pleasant options for dinner without attracting noisy crowds. Even without an elevator, staff helped me with my... More

This was our second visit to this hotel after few years. I am happy to say that everything is as good as the first time. The owners are very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is near the train station and about 20 - 25 minutes waking ( very enjoyable) to St. Marks square. The included breakfast is very good including the... More

This hotel was in the perfect location for exploring Venice. Short and easy walk from train station. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke English. The room was a little small for 2 people with suitcases, but it was clean, the bathroom was good, nice shower, comfortable beds, AC worked great, and there was a lovely roof terrace with... More

The first thing you notice when you walk in are the light fixtures. I don't know if they are real Murano fixtures but they look nice. Reception and staff are very nice and friendly helping with directions and time tables. If you need an elevator to get your bags upstairs or WiFi for business, this is not the hotel for... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
