Our 3 night stay at this hotel was perfect. The location could not have been better as it was close to San Marco and yet in a quiet spot so sleep was undisturbed. Close to the water bus stop of San Zaccaria making the transfer from Marco Polo airport effortless by water taxi. Incredibly clean with all the amenities to... More

The only real challenge we had was the room was hot. We didn't complain so the staff really didn't have an oppotnity to correct the problem. Speakng of the staff, Luca at the font desk was very helpful. He made reccmendations or resrvations for us all 3 nights for dinner at places we would have never known about on or... More

Stayed with my mum in a twin room. Staff honestly couldn't have been more helpful and lovely. Great location, close to San Marco. Room clean, good size and comfortable. Bathroom design a bit odd, but serviceable. Would very happily stay here again.

Our room was spacious and clean, and in a perfect location for accessing water transport and the doge's palace. Staff were helpful and honest, giving good recommendations for restaurants, the best ways to travel to murano and burano as well as places within walking distance. We will be back!

A lovely hotel located near the San Zaccaria water bus stop only a 10 minute walk from the main sights in St marks square and a 20 min walk to the Rialto Bridge. Breakfast was continental with some hot scrambled eggs and bacon. A small bar is located In the lobby area and served by the reception team as it... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in early March and really enjoyed ourselves! Location is perfect - a 30 second walk from the mouth of the grand canal (and the water buses) and less than 10 minutes walk to St Mark's Square. Rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. Breakfast was fine - nothing to write home about but perfectly... More

A comfortable hotel that is both tucked away and quiet, yet a 10 minute stroll from the main attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and found the staff professional and attentive at all times. Breakfast was included and very plentiful.

With a great location, only 5 minute from St Marks Plaza, the Bisanzio Hotel is good value, quiet and comfortable. We paid a supplement for a room with a small roof terrace enjoying views over the orange roof tops of Venice. Room was spotless and simply furnished with a few nice authentic touches - lighting and furniture. Mattress was hard... More

Recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights during the Venice Carnival, great location and found it really easily from being dropped off by water taxi along the water front. It’s also only a 5 minute walk from St.Marks Square so really central. Our Bedroom was of a good size and extremely clean although we were woken each morning at... More

This was a great choice for us to stay when visiting Venice. The location was perfect it was right in the heart of the town but it was set back. Off the main path you walked through an alley way (not a scary alley though) just a few steps so it was private and quiet back there. The hotel room... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
