Lovely hotel tucked away from the traditional tourist track. Room was spacious and had a little terrace overlooking the Venetian rooftops. Breakfast was nothing special but was sufficient for this type of hotel. Ideally situated within a short (5 minute) walk of St Mark's Square and close to all the main sites of this beautiful part of Italy. All in... More

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a regular Best Western but it's a 4 stars hotel for sure. We arrived by train at Santa Lucia station. We bought some vaporetto (water bus) tickets to go to the hotel. It was perfect. The hotel is a few steps from San Zaccahria water bus stop and very close to... More

Location is terrific! As you have to arrive by water taxi it is only a very short walk from the drop off area to the hotel and also only a short walk to Doges Palace. Reception staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to assist with everything. The foyer is beautiful and they have a cute little... More

Good value hotel. Good location, nice breakfast, helpful staff and ok rooms. I gotta say that the bed is extremely comfortable and I slept very well every night. The heating works perfectly. WiFi could be better. If you are planning on going to Venice, make sure to: -Bring comfy shoes (you'll walk a lot) -Download an offline map on your... More

We stayed for 4 nights immediately before Xmas. This was our 3rd trip to Venice in 5 years, and we have stayed in 3 different hotels.Bisanzio was the best, although it was not on a canal. One of the most important things in Venice is finding the hotel,it can be a needle in a haystack. We usually book on a canal so a water... More

I stayed here with my wife for 3 days. The hotel is in a great location only minutes from St marks square. The room was really nice with a huge comfy bed. The staff were nice, especially Gabriel at reception, couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast is lovely, help yourself to as much as you want. Would definitely recommend... More

The best. Part of 3 and it was perfect. Quiet area with cute balcony in our room. We loved it. Staff was great, arranged a trip to Murano for us and that was the icing of our trip. The best I could hope for. Thanks !!

Excellent hotel for staying near piazza San Marco. Very friendly staff, made our stay extremely pleasant. Very clean rooms, recently renovated. Breakfast was nice as well. Our only complaint was that the wifi signal at the room was very weak, so, in order to have a decent internet connection, had to go down, at the lobby area. If you are... More

Good hotel. Great location. Friendly staff. I would definately recomend it. Remember to ask for a "coffee maker" for your room - it is a tray with a kettle and coffee/tee btw. Not standard in room but free of charge Reception gave us really good advice as far as a local restaurant goes. Al Scalinetto, small local 5min walk from... More

The room was very spacious. The sheets were stiff. The bathroom was a decent size with a shower tub. The TV was very far away from the bed, so one would need to sit on the chaise to see the TV properly. The window was high up and looked onto a small square that was surrounded by other apartment buildings.... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
