this is a small hotel away from the Square but close to the ferry. Room clean as was the bathroom. The staff are pleasant and helpful. It is also close to excellent local restaurants. Great value. The room with terrace although no view is great to have an afternoon drink

The hotel is easy to find, no lugging suitcase up flights of stairs (elevator) or cobblestone ally ways. Located 50 feet of the main promenade, the sign is small, the cost is rather high but not by Venice hotel standards. I was very satisfied with the accommodations and desk staff. I read many review on many lodgings in Venice before... More

Location superb Hotel good value if you get a deal which we didn't. Our room was small, on the top floor and had a step down after coming into the room and another one up for the main part of the bedroom. We had to leave on the light in the toilet at night in case we didnt remember the... More

Lovely venetian style hotel and very close to all sights , 5 mins from St Marks square etc, and 1 min from the sea front and water taxis etc, but no noise once you are inside - perfect location! Also has its own hotel pier for taxis and gondolas etc. Spotlessly clean, lovely breakfasts. We booked a superior room as... More

Just back from a 5 day trip to Venice,my wife and myself were very impressed with the hotel, rooms were superb, marble walls, wood flooring, the location is great for exploring as it is 2 minutes to San Zaccaria water taxi stop, and only 10 minutes walk to St Marc's square. The room was spotless, the reception staff were very helpful,no request was... More

The hotel is in a good location very close to St Mark's Square and was easy to find which in Venice isn't always the case. The water taxi stops very close by. Rooms were comfortable - just what you need after a day on your feet walking round Venice. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. A good breakfast... More

This hotel was a nice find. Very friendly staff, clean, comfortable spacious rooms, great location and a good breakfast. I would definitely stay here again. The staff were courteous and interested in helping us and making sure we had all our questions answered. Just minutes from the water and San Marco plaza and Basilica.

We stayed here last weekend. The hotel is in a great location, just 5 minutes from St Mark's Square but is in a secluded position down its own little pathway. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was good although they do clear it away promptly so don't leave until 9.45am! It has a small bar which only... More

This hotel is in a superb location - which is so important in Venice. It is steps from the main walking path to Piazza San Marco along the water. Easy to get to and from all main attractions. Staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Would definitely stay here again.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
