Our family of four had a very comfortable stay in a two bedroom apartment in Casa Bisanzio. Good Parts: Excellent A/C (very important in July in Venice) Spacious (by European standards) In-room clothes washing machine (it's TINY, but works well, in a cabinet in the bathroom) Clean, well appointed Conveniently located to St. Mark's Very helpful staff/concierge Good breakfast included... Beautiful hotel slightly set back from waterfront. Walk to the square from here. You can arrange a trip to Murano through the front desk. They send you to a glass factory with an incredible showroom and the water taxi is much less than if you arrange it yourself. Nice breakfast buffet.

Hotel down the side street opposite the ferry stop.Excellent staff, good breakfast, good room with view in courtyard, no complaints... More

Great experience and great location. Close to all major tourist attractions. Very friendly staff. Hotel was full of Venetian glass light fixtures and the breakfast was great! The staff didn't mind giving us our room key 50 times a day due to us always returning to use the washroom. The windows had shutters which were a nice touch however the... More

Had a wonderful visit to Venice at the beginning of July and stayed at this well located, clean, friendly hotel. Loved it.. Stayed in the apartment suite in the street beside the hotel .. 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and perfect for our 2 daughters , my husband and I. We were able to walk to all the shops, St Marks... More

As per previous reviews, everything about this hotel is excellent, especially the reception and breakfast room staff. (Breakfast is average for choice). Perfectly placed hotel for sight seeing. we booked a water taxi to & from the airport which takes you to a little jetty behind the hotel less than a minute away. this was our second visit to Venice... This is our 3rd visit to this hotel and we were very happy again. The room with the private terrace is fabulous and the reception staff are friendly and informative. Breakfast is a typical mix of cheese, hams, yogurts, cereals, toast, croissants, eggs and bacon and so much more! Mini bar prices are pretty good as well. We really like... More

If you are looking for an oasis in Venice, this is the place. It is by far better than two of the 5 star hotels we previously stayed in. It is a small hotel with fabulous hospitality, clean, comfortable with nice-sized rooms and beautiful decor. The baths are modern and large, the beds divine, the breakfast the best, and the... More

This hotel is a charming blend of old and new. It's looks nothing like a Best Western in the US. The desk clerks all speak 3 different languages each or more, there are guests from all countries in Europe, the service is excellent, the breakfast is a blend that will appeal to everyone from anywhere, including the children. Be sure... More

The location was really good, easy access to the public transportation docks and they have a private one too. The staff was helpful. For a double the room was HUGE for European standards. The AC was strong and worked well. The only downsides were that the WiFi was poor, even for Europe. The breakfast spread was mediocre. Other than that,... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
