The hotel is in a good location very close to St Mark's Square and was easy to find which in Venice isn't always the case. The water taxi stops very close by. Rooms were comfortable - just what you need after a day on your feet walking round Venice. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. A good breakfast... More

This hotel was a nice find. Very friendly staff, clean, comfortable spacious rooms, great location and a good breakfast. I would definitely stay here again. The staff were courteous and interested in helping us and making sure we had all our questions answered. Just minutes from the water and San Marco plaza and Basilica.

We stayed here last weekend. The hotel is in a great location, just 5 minutes from St Mark's Square but is in a secluded position down its own little pathway. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was good although they do clear it away promptly so don't leave until 9.45am! It has a small bar which only... More

This hotel is in a superb location - which is so important in Venice. It is steps from the main walking path to Piazza San Marco along the water. Easy to get to and from all main attractions. Staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Would definitely stay here again.

Our friends were staying at the Danieli, but that was too expensive for us. We found this place right around the corner, and it had everything we wanted without the huge price tag. Room was large, for European standards, bathroom large and efficient. Breakfast was large and included cappuccino and cafe latte. Marco and Tony at the desk were cheerful,... More

We stayed for two nights, whilst "doing" Ravenna. The hotel is in a modern(ish) building in the centre of Ravenna, very near San Vitale, one of the top sights. It is vehicle accessible. There is no car park, but the hotel issues notices which one displays on one's windscreen which allow one to park in meter bays all day without... More

We stayed here for three nights the end of March. I had reserved a superior room and got upgraded to a room with a balcony. I believe there are 4 rooms that have the balcony. It's not much of a view as you overlook rooftops, however, it was very nice sitting out there having a glass of wine before going... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in April 2015. The hotel is in a perfect location, just minutes from San Marco Square and the sea-front. But better than the location is the great staff! From the moment we walked in and were greeted like family, the staff continued to impress us especially Gabriel (hope the spelling is correct)! They greeted... More

We had an excellent three-day stay at the Best Western Bisanzio in Venice. The hotel is located just metres from Venice sea-front - Riva degli Schiavoni - up a narrow alleyway called Calle de la Pietà, little more than 5 mins. walk from Piazza San Marco and just two mins. walk from the Vaporetto pontoons and water taxi stations. The... More

Our 3 night stay at this hotel was perfect. The location could not have been better as it was close to San Marco and yet in a quiet spot so sleep was undisturbed. Close to the water bus stop of San Zaccaria making the transfer from Marco Polo airport effortless by water taxi. Incredibly clean with all the amenities to... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
