The hotel is very well located, expecially if you're visiting the Biennale, has a breathtaking view (our room was on the fifth floor, with a tiny but comfortable terrace on Laguna), excellent breakfast: fruit, eggs, bacon, superb croissant etc. A nice garden in the back, vaporetto stops a few steps away. Should I rate the hotel without considering the features... More

Small and expensiv rooms. Breakfast pretty poor. It is not possible to sit outside. Why? "Very sorry, but our Restaurant is outsourced". Unfriendly service. Fruits not fresh. Not worth the price. Look the Ananas. ..

Booking a hotel in the centre of Venice proved quite a challenge in July. We booked the hotel on hotels.com and hoped for the best , we were so glad that we had though as it was as central as it comes. Rooms are plain and nothing fancy but sitting on your little balcony and having those amazing views of... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in Sept 2014 prior to us starting a cruise. The lady at front reception really was spectacular, we needed to hire a pram for our son I found a number and she spoke to the man for us as we cant speak Italian. She arranged the whole thing and did it with a smile.... More

Great position overlooking the lagoon and very close to St Marks Square... Lovely hotel with great rooftop garden and good breakfast. We had a lagoon view room which had great views, large comfy bed & small bathroom with bath. From the bus station it costs 60 or 90 euro for a taxi depending on if you want to travel along... More

This is the hotel that friends of ours recommended, they stay here every Biennale. The location is fantastic, the terrace is unique along this stretch of water, the service is superb, and we love the ambience.

This is an real Venetian hotel, with all the features of an old palazzo: corridors, courtyards, old furniture and decor. The terrace on the roof has an amazing view, which is the main reason why I come to this place. The location is one of the best for visiting the BIennale. The rooms are another story: they are very small,... More

Dear client, thank you for writing a comemnt of your stay. It is with pleasure that we lear that you are coming mainly for the roof top terrace and the location of the hotel. Specially in summer when it is quite warm in Venice a terrace offers a breese in the evening and a spectacular view on the whole city.... More

Hotel positioned brilliantly. It is clean and well maintained. The room we had was on the third floor overlooking the lagoon. The view was wonderful. It was quite noisy so if wanting quite nights it would be better to have a back room.A room with a balcony I'm the summer is a treat. Management helpful and friendly but waitresses rude... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
