This was a great value in an amazing location! The staff was very helpful, both before and during our stay. Our bed, room, and bathroom were comfortable and clean. We are not experienced European travelers, but were happy with the public areas and our room...It met all our our needs while being just different enough that we knew we weren't... More

Beds are too small, room is not comfortable, staff is rude. Celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary, mistake...would not recommend for a quickie let alone a signifcant anniversary in your life. Location was excellent, only steps from St. Marks square in Venice.

If you avoid November and February when Venice floods and the hotel lobby and diner smell like poo, it's a great hotel at the best location! 4 steps and you are at the heart of San Marco! Bathroom is weird but the rest of the room is very classy and very clean! Breakfast is poor but the staff is very... More

Hot and Cold water-even in the bidet! You would think you are in U.S., except for 1)bidet and stone intarsia bath instead of tile, 2) more formally-dressed and attentive staff, and 3) irregular room size, shapes, and 3) towel warmer in bath! CLEAN and great value. Research your own eateries but staff has good info on everything else!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights over New Year and although the location cannot be beaten, you live with constant noise at all hours of the day and night. Throughout the duration of our stay, the hotel had no hot water, which proved extremely frustrating bearing the fact it is the middle of winter! The staff are useless... More

Dear FoodSupre first of all I would like to thank you for your review. I apologize to you on behalf of the whole Staff if you haven't enjoyed your stay as would been our intention. You are right, it is frustrating not to have hot water during the winter, and I can assure that it was been even more so... More

There are two best westerns Albergo San Marco. They don't specify which one exactly when you search to book. Both are located around at Marks square. The one we stayed in was really run down with mould on the ceilings. Please double check before booking.

Stayed here while discovering Venice for the first time. The location is amazing, right next to San Marco, walking distance from almost everything. The hotel itself is quite decent. You only get one key per room that you have to leave at the Front Desk when you leave so if your arrival times are different with whomever you are sharing... More

Foot steps from St Marco square, nice and quiet for a good nights sleep. Hotel staff are friendly, rooms are small as you would expect for Venice. Free wifi, breakfast was not the best but there are lots of cafes near by.

I am so glad we picked this hotel, just because of how conveniently it is located in San Marco. Good variety at breakfast and very friendly, helpful staff. We got all the directions and travel advice we needed. Room was standard sized. A bit noisy outside, but the beds were comfy enough to ensure a good night's sleep.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
