I visited this hotel with my family in September 2015. While the hotel is in he center of Venice with friendly staff and close walking distance to St. Mark's, great restaurants, and shops, the smell of sewage filled the entire hotel, including our room; it was quite overwhelming. In addition, the breakfast that was included with other rate lacked variety... More

Very close to St Marks square. (200 m thru the back way) rooms clean and quiet and while smallish there is plenty of space. Wifi free but intermittent. Breakfast was continental but sufficient. Close to excellent restaurants and easy to get to and from ferries. We would have no hesitation staying there again

We stayed at Hotel Kette for one night before departing on a Mediterranean cruise. It was pretty easy to find from the Santa Maria del Giglio stop (follow the sign towards Teatro Fenice). It's ideally located close to Piazza San Marco, but far enough away that it was quiet and peaceful most of the day. We had no problems with... More

This was a family holiday to Venice, the hotel was in a perfect location very central. The rooms were clean, bedding and towels changed when ever you wanted. Breakfast was adaqate but boarding after the forth day and sharing the breakfast room with literally hundreds of fruit flies was a bit off putting! Do not book this hotel if your... More

We only stayed for a short period in Venice. Kette was the typical Venetian hotel, very European, quaint and small, heavy draperies, paintings, the European ambiance. Service was ok and this hotel would be ideal for a quick stay in Venice.

We had a great 3 nights at this hotel. It is a perfect location for exploring the city - the hotel is literally 5 minutes from St Mark's Square and Doges palace. Our room was great and the buffet breakfast was constantly replenished. Would stay here again if we come back to Venice.

This is my third time in Venice. I liked this hotel very much here. It is in a very good location, friendly staff, wide rooms, comfortable stay. We had two rooms and they provided me a room with three beds next to my room for the kids. They also provided me with a free ride to the Murano glass factory.... More

This hotel is perfectly situated to explore Venice by foot, Gondola or vaparetto. The hotel itself is looking tired, air conditioning vent hanging off the wall, carpets thread bare in places. The beds are far too small in some rooms. We asked for a double and got two singles pushed together, the huge ribs around the mattress felt like a... More

This hotel is very cute, the rooms are typical Venetian style. Our room on the 3rd floor had a view of a canal. The room was a reasonable size, not too small, and the bathroom was not too small either. There was free WIFI....the location was great, less than 5 minutes to St Marks Square, and about the same to... More

Nothing but good to say about this hotel. My wife and I spent three nights. The room was decent sized and clean. Staff was very helpful and a there was a very nice breakfast. Add this to a great location and it provides a very pleasant base to explore Venice. If you fly into Venice I would recommend taking a... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
