My boyfriend and I recently visited Venice, and we stayed at the Hotel Kette. The front desk staff speaks English very well, and is extremely helpful---giving us great food recommendations! The room was very large and extremely clean. It was perfect distance to St. Mark's square, and had an upscale Italian elegance. Breakfast in the morning was generous and the... More

The hotel is perfectly positioned for seeing Venice, just off the fashion area 4 min walk to the square. The room was clean and tidy with daily service, the view wasn't much had an internal courtyard but then again we were not overlooked. Staff helpful but a little up themselves, however the guy who works the Bar is a joy,... More

We're staying here for our wedding anniversary. This morning we stepped out the door turn left than turn right and then turn left on the road that goes straight to St. Marks square. We were there early this morning and only saw a few people. The same tonight. This afternoon we walked ten minutes to the academia. Yesterday we walked... More

Lovely location so easy to get to the main areas. Breakfast better than expected no complaints. Room superior overlooking canal was a treat watching the water taxis and gondolas go by. Breakfast staff superb, Gianni the porter so friendly and helpful. Wifi adequate but nice not to be tied to it.

We stayed at the at the Kette. I booked it thru Hotwire. One of those deals that dont let you know what hotel until you purchase it. I wanted to be in San Marco square in Venice a four star hotel. The hotel was in San Marco Square, but the hotel was less then a three star. The room felt... More

The first thing I noticed upon my arrival was how impeccable the service was. Pillows, anything we needed the concierge was brilliant. Being so close to San Marco square made travelling around Venice so convenient, especially when visiting the other islands by water (Murano, Burano and Torcello). The buffet breakfast was simple but perfect. I fell in love with the... More

Hotel Kette is a five minute walk to San Marco square and a stones throw away from great restaurants. The hotel is bordered on two sides by canals and close to the opera house. The service is wonderful and breakfast is included. The staff was very helpful and we even had a complimentary excursion by water taxi to the island... More

Good Hotel with all the facilities you want as a base to explore Venice. Situated very close to San Marco in the area of Designer shops but in a quite location. Arrive if possible by water taxi to their door direct off a canal. Traditionally furnished and very clean. Typical continental breakfast buffet and dining area very busy around 8.30... More

Our first time to Venice and we had the great fortune of staying at The Kette! This place is A luxury hotel but at a reasonable price and a gem of a property: from the beautiful lobby, to the 2 large adjacent sitting rooms, to the wonderful breakfast buffet! The guestroom had complimentary wifi, sparkling wine and they offer a... More

Nice hotel in Venice, and a good option for families (they offer suites). Not a modern hotel if that is what you are looking for, but had very appropriate, old-world charm. Off the beaten path a bit so quite quiet in the mornings. I really enjoyed my stay. Great location in Venice as well.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
