The uniformed staff are very helpful, Luca, the bartender is the best! The room we had was 406 overlooked the canal and occassionally had singing from the gondolas below. The room was spacious, bed was big but mattress needs replacement. TV is tiny by today's standards. Room and hotel are appointed in old Venice style. The key is a key... More

Wonderful charming hotel located within walking distance of St. Mark's Square. We had a room overlooking the canal where you could see the gondolas pass and on occasion hear the Italian singers. It was as if we stepped back in time! The concierge was personable, spoke English and tended to our every need. Our room was beautifully appointed and clean.... More

This was the first stop of our trip. The location was great. Short walk to St. Mark's as well as to the water buses. The air conditioning was horrible. Didn't even feel like it was on. We said something to the front desk and came back to the heat being on high. I brushed the the ac off as being... More

Super accessible to St.Mark's Square and the shopping district. We asked for a room with the view of the canal which was very nice. The air conditioning was great which really helped since we were in Venice during the recent heat wave in Italy. The concierge also holds your luggage after check-out. Breakfast was very good. The only inconvenience is... More

We stayed here for one night on the 13th of June 2015 here is what we thought of our stay. The facilities was up to a basic standard from what I expect from any hotel, there was a shower but no bath, missing hot drink facilities in the room however a mini bar was provided (reasonably priced). The service was... More

Found that the hotel was very quaint (old world) as of most hotels in Venice it was very hard to find even with a map. We came from the airport on the water bus and didn't realise it would be such a hassle getting the cases over the bridges of the canals

We stayed here for 3 nights on a stay in Venice and we're pretty impressed with the Hotel. Pros: Beautiful, Quiet, Off the beaten path, but very close to everything Cons: Water leak in room, were tricked into a visit to Murano (see below) (When we asked about a visit to the Glass Blowing Island, the hotel concierge replied that... Good large room with a firm bed. The key thing to remember is to mark EXACTLY where this is on your map before setting off, we were slightly misled and we struggled late at night to understand the address system in Venice. With the help of locals we toured San MArco until we reached it. The night porter was helpful... More

Chose this from the "moderate priced" section in Rick Steve's book on Venice. Very enjoyable, located 5 minutes walking from main San Marco square. Friendly staff, quick service to our room (#140), complimentary bottle of Champagne, separate sitting room with another TV, large bath with true shower and thick robes to wear, quiet room with nice large bed, great A/C,... Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
