We were enchanted with our boat ride leading to the hotel. The staff was very friendly and our room was perfect. Large bathroom with heated towel rack, luxurious sheets on comfy beds. We loved the buffet breakfast, mimosas, fresh fruit, meat, cheese and bread. It was beautifully laid out and wait staff was great. Conveniently located close to St Mark's... More

It is not the absolute top in Venice, but it certainly is close. The hotel is right on the Canal Grande and many rooms have a view of it. Only five minutes walking and you are on the Piazza San Marco; in fact, almost everything worth seeing in Venice is close by. I had a particularly nice room with a... More

We stayed here for my girlfriends birthday in February and received fantastic service. There was champagne and a cake waiting in the room as a birthday surprise which was a lovely touch. Breakfast every morning was good if not a little pricey, but what do you expect for 5* Venice. Wonderful views over the grand canal from out spacious room.... More

Very bad service, mainly room service and house keeping. The room was cleaned but they did not remove the dirty cups as it is not their duty to remove the cups only room service is allowed to remove the cups and even when we called them to clean they didn't bother to come until I told them that I will write... Loved the location of this hotel! We took the public water taxi from the airport. It took about 90 minutes and we got off at San Marco square. A short walk to the hotel, but a little tricky to find and little hard to navigate with luggage, but doable. The public taxi was about 15 euros a piece. You could... More

Great location - only minutes from St. Marks Square, Duomo and the ferry stop. Grand old building, most rooms are a little small but I had an upgrade which was both spacious and tasteful. It is possible to get deals at times so for a little luxury , it is hard to go past this hotel for style and value.... More

Great location, good service, however most standard rooms are on the smaller side and slightly dated. An important fact which their website does not mention is that fire regulations do not permit tea or coffee making facility in the room. Therefore those of us who prefer to wake up to a coffee or a tea either fork out extra money... More

The Westin Europa and Regina is a beautiful hotel with a magnificent view. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a room with the canal view and (as you can see from the picture) it was truly magnificent. The location cannot be beat, steps from St Marks Square, and right in the action of Venice! The canals are lovely... More

This is, like so many, an old building but Westin have made a good job of providing quality accommodation. There are two parts of the hotel the Europa and Regina buildings. We were at the Europa which has the canal side accommodation some rooms with excellent views. We ate in the dining room for lunch and the food was great.... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
