This five star hotel offers everything you would expect. The location is perfect. The rooms are well appointed. The restaurant was wonderful. From beginning to end we had a perfect time in this exceptional hotel. The staff is gracious and helpful.

The Westin Hotel Europa & Regina is not only an excellent hotel, it is 5 minutes away from St Mark's square, yet it it feels far more quiet and private than the Hotel Danieli (where we have also stayed), seeing that it is located directly on the Grand Canal, and the masses of tourists cannot access that area. There are... More

Stayed for 3 nights, it's a excellent stay. Must highlight that the Concerige Mr. Marco is very helpful. He has given us good advise our transport and moving around Venice. He's a local with good English language ability. That's what we need as a tourist for people to understand us. This is the kind of Concerige that every hotel needs.... More

I only can say that I regret about staying to short in this hotel! This is the fourth time I visit Venice, but it's the first time I stay in Westin Hotel. The reception was friendly and attentive, the concierge Marco, he speaks perfectly English and gave excellent advises for the restaurants and "must see" places. Really thank to him... More

The location is right on the canal. Right near a vaporetto stop and San Marco square. We had a deluxe room. Very sparse looking. Took me a long time to realize it was that there were no pictures on the wall. We paid to have an extra bed in the room. It was sheets over a sofa. The fixtures in... More

Not getting into your room until 3:45, when you've been disgorged by your cruise ship at 9;00AM is always an unpleasant way to start a stay in an alleged 5-star hotel, especially when the temp outside is nearly 100 and you are a platinum member. The staff made it worse, though. They were AT BEST neutral, but were more unfriendly... More

We stayed here before a cruise. Arriving by water taxi to a Grand Canal hotel is always a fabulous experience. I am an SPG member, so whether because of that or good luck, we were given a wonderful room looking over to Sta. Maria della Salute. Very spacious with a huge bedroom. Judging by other comments, it's wise to try... More

The hotel has very beautiful common areas such as the grand salon, the terass by the water etc. but the room we got was very small and not impressive at all for a 5-star hotel. I couldn't turn around in the shower without turning off the water and the bed wasn't bolted to anything so it kept sliding around. Corridors... More

The selling point is the location which is a 5 minute stroll to the main square. Breakfast outside facing the canal is picturesque. The rooms were a bit dated and very small and the food was nothing to write home about. The staff were attentive and helpful as you would expect from a Western property

Bugs in the bathroom, pubic hair in the shower and towels, and very bad service. They gave us the room very late (around 4 pm) in very bad conditions. The concierge was very rude with us such as the lady on the frontdesk. For the price you could get a much better hotel.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
