We booked this hotel through European Destinations and did a little research through TA before booking. We were glad we did! The room was very big for European standards; It was not modern but it was clean and comfortable, with a good AC running and a large bathroom as well. We stayed in the 2nd floor and the elevator was... More

What we expected of a Venice hotel. Previous reviews indicate that 3rd floor rooms have been renovated, we were on the 2nd floor and although not renovated, clean, air con, large room and comfortable. We found continental breakfast to be fine and sitting in the small courtyard with breakfast and a coffee was a pleasant way to start the day.... More

My experience in this hotel was the best. The room was totally renovated and clean but reading other experiences looks like the hotel has only renovated the third floor which is where I stayed. so, if you planning to book, make sure they give you a room on the third floor. Breakfast was basic but ok. Very centrally located at... More

My husband and I stayed at this hotel May 21-23, 2015 before leaving on a cruise out of Venice. We arrived via the Santa Lucia train station and this hotel couldn't have been in a more perfect location. Between a rainy arrival and 2 suitcases the short walk was very welcome. It was an EASY 7 minute walk from the... More

The hotel is quite new for the stars and where it is. Room clean, bathroom quite new. The breakfast is the weak point: restricted choices of fresh fruits, no vegetal milk or offer for vegetarian, super poor juices. The staff is nice also in giving you orintation how better travel in the city.

If you drive a car than this hotel would be perfect for location. It's just 10 minutes walking from/to public car park where you can leave your car for less than 30 euros a day (May 2015). Walking to centre of Venice would take some time. Older people should consider getting hotels closer to centre of Venice if they want... More

This hotel is in a great location but it's dated. Nice lobby but old rooms. They were clean but you can't beat the location! We were in walking distance from the train station and bus terminals. The mama in canal was steps away. You are surrounded by restaurants and cafes. If your looking to relax in the hotel. I don't... More

Nice Hotel, great breakfast, close to train station, fair rates for what you get, comfortable, clean and safe. You can walk to all the sites throughout the island with easy. The room has a very small safe and it isn't bolted down in the room. Anyone can easily pick it up and take it out of the room. So we... More

Located on side canal about 50 meters from Grand Canal. Five minute walk from bus station and train station. Clean room modestly furnished. Ultra firm mattress. Loved sleeping with the windows open and enjoying Venice's cool night air. Pleasant, professional and helpful front desk staff. Good restaurants close by and short distance to vaporetto stop. No hot food at breakfast... More

A great little motel which is very close to the bus stop. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean. It was a great place to stay for our Venice stop over. As first timers to Venice, we were very impressed that there were so many affordable eateries so close to the front door and there... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
