Although the room was clean, it was extremely out dated. It also felt like they shoved a mattress in a room that was too small. The breakfast was your typical continental breakfast nothing special. The staff was excellent, always willing to provide help and service. Since Venice has a million bridges all with stairs, we were glad that the location... More

When we arrived, we loved how conveniently located it is, right around the corner from the Grand Canal and close to both the train station and bus station. We were given an odd room (101) which seemed to be an afterthought as it's located right behind the reception desk. The door of the room literally opened up to the lobby.... More

Location is excellent. Breakfast offered was very good - selection and quality. Room size was large. But ...... the hotel wasn't clean. A little shocked for what we paid per night. Furniture in lobby was old and dirty. Mold everywhere in the bathroom. Carpets were filthy. The place is in need of some love to bring it to an appropriate... More

Situated 50 metres from the Grand Canal, the Gardena is in a great location. Piazzale Roma is the main hub for the vaparetto (water bus) service, where you can travel anywhere around Venice and is only 5 minutes walk away. There are several good, reasonably priced restaurants very close to the hotel. The hotel itself is clean and quite comfortable.... More

In the San Croce district just off the Grand Canal, Hotel Gardena, is an easy 5-10 minute walk with baggage from Piazzale Roma & train station (Venezia Santa Lucia). Hotel shows some wear, but rooms are clean & comfortable. Bathroom is small with older fixtures. Basic continental breakfast with delicious coffee. Staff was pleasant & helpful. I would stay here... Venice is filled with history and this hotel has an older charm to go with it. In contrast to contemporary hotels, the furnishings are reminiscent of an older area but in a very good way. The room had true European character and we enjoyed our stay there. While the bathroom was a little dated, it was clean, and the fixtures... More

The good: close to the station, nice quiet canal-side location, reasonably sized room, free WiFi, helpful staff The bad: slightly tired 1980s feel decor and fittings. The average: breakfast with tinned fruit salad

This review of Gardena Hotel may not be a completely accurate for 90% of the rooms of which the hotel offers. Let me explain. I booked a four night stay for myself and my wife many months prior to our mid July trip and booked the cheapest room option available on a travel website. I expected to get one of... More

Venice is old, its buildings crowded against one another, the are no sugardaddies looking to renovate small boutique hotels. So, the Gardena Hotel is typical of Venice- cozy rooms that are well appointed, in room wifi and a better than average breakfast. The manager was in contact with me 2 days prior to staying to advise he would try and... More

Everything Venice about this hotel. Expensive and small room, but close to station so good for access when carrying luggage around. Breakfast was good, receptionist a little unapproachable but got the job done. Room was quiet, and close enough to good restaurants and the 'neighbourhood' side of Venice.
