Nice Hotel, great breakfast, close to train station, fair rates for what you get, comfortable, clean and safe. You can walk to all the sites throughout the island with easy. The room has a very small safe and it isn't bolted down in the room. Anyone can easily pick it up and take it out of the room. So we... More

Located on side canal about 50 meters from Grand Canal. Five minute walk from bus station and train station. Clean room modestly furnished. Ultra firm mattress. Loved sleeping with the windows open and enjoying Venice's cool night air. Pleasant, professional and helpful front desk staff. Good restaurants close by and short distance to vaporetto stop. No hot food at breakfast... More

A great little motel which is very close to the bus stop. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean. It was a great place to stay for our Venice stop over. As first timers to Venice, we were very impressed that there were so many affordable eateries so close to the front door and there... More

This is a little gem hotel overlooking a little canal. The room is nice and they serve good breakfast. It's near the main train station and the bus to the airport. There are plenty nice restaurant around this place. The best part is it's near the main waterbus stop. Highly recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Venice

I booked this hotel at the last minute and although the previous reviews made me nervous we ran with it and thankfully we got a room on the third floor which was excellent The hotel is positioned in a very convenient place, close to the river taxis train station and bus terminal with lots of restaurant nearby. The only thing... More

Absolutely despicable, most filthiest room ever. Booking.com is an absolute fraud. The picture that is shown on their website for the so called "Deluxe" room is blurry. Got to the hotel on 04/03-had booked 2 nights off of a package. The hotel has 3 floors. Only the 3rd floor is renovated and updated. We got placed on the 1st floor.... More

We stayed in the double deluxe room over looking the canal on the third floor and the room was amazing. The hotel is positioned in a very convenient place, close to transport and lots of restaurants. Worth every dollar.

A perfect little hotel in a quiet and very convenient location. I loved it and would be happy to stay there again. Located on a small canal very near the vaporetto main station. There is not any other information I can give other than to say that the manager was very accomodating and lent me a current converter so I... More

The hotel was clean and sunny. Sits on a small canal only a few hundred feet off the Grand Canal. Walking distance to both the bus station and the train station. Lovely breakfast room with a nice breakfast spread. Clean and bright room and lovely bathroom - nice shower. Wish we had stayed there longer! Will return.

We stayed here 3 nights and enjoyed just about everything about it. Our only complaint was the girl who works the main desk was fairly rude an un willing to help. She made us feel like we were interrupting her big important job to answer our questions. Is she not literally there to check us in, answer our questions, give... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
