We visited Venice for 1 night and 2 days in May and our Hotel was a big surprise. I wasn't expecting such an adorable and cozy place. Hotel was the house of a famous painter which was remodeled very nicely. Shower and toilet were looked very modern in turquoise color. The room was big clean and close to good restaurants,... More

The staff were wonderful friendly. The hotel was beautifully decorated. Our room was on the third floor (the top) it was small and compact but decorated in the style of Venice but we had everything we needed, a radio which worked in the bathroom which was a nice touch, A/C, small TV mini bar and wardrobe. We had single beds... More

On 1st of this month we reached Venice and checked in at this hotel for two nights before going to Rome. First of all I suggest English speaking travelers to read the map very carefully to reach the hotel and insist water taxi from grand canal to take them up to this hotel's backyard which is bit ahead of San... We had a 4 night break in the beautiful city of Venice. This hotel is perfectly situated amongst all the small alleyways that criss cross the canals. Plenty of good quality affordable restaurants nearby. All the main attractions are a 10 minute walk away. The Vaparetto stop a short walk. San Stae nearest stop. This hotel not really suitable if... If the beaten tourist track which was nice but that's about it... Upon arrival our room was on 1st floor and a/c was nonexistent and we had to ask for a fan. The bed was as hard as the floor. Breakfast was ok... So glad we only stayed one night.

I suggest requesting a room facing the grand canal. They are larger rooms with windows that open to the canal....it was a great experience. You will have to request it with the hotel as soon as you make your reservation....even then, you may not get it. The other rooms are much smaller. Need to specifically ask the front desk for... After looking at the pictures of this hotel our expectations were pretty low. We were pleasantly surprised by most things in this hotel. Although the furnishings aren't the typical modern furniture that he have become accustomed to, it all worked. The rooms were surprisingly comfortable. This hotel does not have an elevator and a lot of stairs to get to... More

It is convenient located by grand canal with its own dock. Our room is on the first floor - feel like in the basement without view and dark. Our room is spacious, but the bathroom has very low ceiling especially when you stand inside the tub - you have to bend your back not to hit the ceiling. The breakfast... More

I booked this hotel for my boyfriend's 21st birthday and it couldn't have been better. The room was stunning with a beautiful view on the grande canal. Staff were friendly and willing to help with any questions we had. We really couldn't have asked for anything more, would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Venice.

Just back from a girls trip and so glad we chose this hotel. Away from the heaving hoardes of the Rialto or St Mark's and yet still within walking distance of everything. Every member of staff was absolutely charming and couldn't do enough for us, issuing directions, booking restaurants and taxis and filling us in on local knowledge. We did... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
