This is a very nice hotel. The rooms are tastefully decorated with many rooms with canal views. It is a pretty good location--close enough to the action but also peaceful at night. The breakfast is a generous spread and the breakfast room is sunny and with a nice view and balcony over the canal. I recommend this hotel.

This hotel has a good location slightly away from the bussle of Sant Marks sqaure. Room bigger than the Venice norm and relatively easy to find. 24 hour reception, bar and good breakfast. Great outdoor sitting areas in front of hotel as well as right on the Grand Canal.

Arrived by water taxi as this hotel has its own landing stage, very welcoming staff, nothing too much trouble, greeted with coffee on arrival. Helped upstairs with cases - there are no lifts and stairs are steep. Room very nice, we had a large room with a balcony overlooking the Grand Canal, with a double and single bed. Linen changed... Very nice hotel an beautiful view on the balcony. The only disappointment was that there where fungus in the bathroom. Hard to find but close to the canal so by jumping of the boat, it's not far to walk. Internet is slow, especially in our room that is on the ground floor.

Dear Sir, thanks for the review. The bathroom of that room has been recently renovated and it doesn't have fungus or mold. We've been having a new wifi system since one week and it's working better everywhere in the building. More

Beautiful stay, amazing hotel, great location, feel like we really lucked out! The hotel itself is smaller, giving a very intimate feeling, loved that. Staff was very friendly, spoke great english, and offered really good advice on site seeing around Venice! Our room was emmaculate! Such great finishes, and the AC felt pretty darn good too! Really felt authentic. We... More

This was our second trip to the San Cassiano ... the first was 30 years ago when I proposed! We decided to go back, and upgraded to a Grand Canal room ... Looking back at some old photos - I don't think there is a great deal of difference in the style or furnishings of this room over the others... More

If you are looking for a hotel that gives you an experience like living in a grand old home of Venice, this just might be the perfect hotel for you. We saw the reviews and decided to take a water taxi to the hotel. If you take the water bus, known as the vaporetto to San Stae stop, you can... More

We arrived at the hotel to be welcomed by an air conditioned reception and very accommodating and helpful staff who spoke perfect English. A perfect start. Our room was clean and comfortable with the family room being two separate rooms. The rooms were cleaned everyday. The breakfast was very good and the views of the grand canal were stunning. We... Do not leave the airport / train station without the following: 1 - detailed map; 2 - compass (yes, I am serious); 3 - full name and address of your hotel; 4 - wheels on your suitcase; 5 - comfy shoes. This little hotel is an absolute gem. It is only a 15 min walk from the train/bus station. Unfortunately,... More

My husband and I took my 8 year old grandson to Venice and we spent 2 delightful nights at the Cà Favretto San Cassiano. We had a large room overlooking the Grand Canal. The reception desk was very friendly and informative and the breakfasts were very good and plentiful. It is situated away from the maddening crowd but close to... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
