This is an old-looking hotel. The lobby and the rooms looked outdated, with the exception of the bathroom. The property is supposed to be a 15-minute walk from the train station, but took me about an hour to find. There is no elevator. The bed was hard and small. It was so small that it felt shaky to sleep on.... More

Lovely and old hotel on the Grand Canal. We had a giant room in front, overlooking the canal. It was like staying in an old pallazzo. Service was friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable. Bed was a bit hard, but all the beds in Europe seem to be this way. We had no trouble walking to St. Mark's square... More

Fairly small hotel in less touristy area near to fish and produce market. very quiet area just a slight rumble from the vaporetto night service. Easy walk to Rialto bridge and San Stae vaporetto stops. Near to several bars, cafes and restaurants and the local Co-op! Staff very helpful and it was a perfect base for visiting all the city's... I loved this hotel. It was like a Palace. Right on the Grand Canal. I loved the decor. Friendly English speaking staff. A short walk to the Realto Bridge. A wonderful breakfast, in a nice room with a terrace facing the Canal. My room face the inner court yard. It was quiet and on the third floor. It is quiet... More

Stayed at this hotel with my family in three separate rooms and was very pleased. We arrived by water taxi (expensive but worth the money) and was met by a friendly receptionist. All the staff were pleasant, especially the night bar man Ernesto. The TV has two English speaking channels and as the hotel is over 500 years old so... More

Stayed here for 3 nights over Easter with our kids (age 11 & 8) in a quad room and it was a perfect base for exploring the sights, a short wander to restaurants and very close to Rialto, 10 min walk to St Mark's square. For the money, it was great but I would say it's more 3* than 4*... More

We had a very nice stay at this Hotel over New Years. The breakfast was very good as well. At night I would open my window to let the cool air in and listen to the water and boats pass by. The room was big enough for everything and very clean. The bathroom was good and the shower as well.... More

We stayed in this hotel during Spring break and had an excellent experience. It has great ambiance, as well as updated bathrooms with towel warmers. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with a window over a side canal. The room also had a safe and extra pillows and blankets in case you needed them. Also the heat/AC worked perfectly.... We found this hotel through a blind third party booking site. It was rated 4 stars and in a general area where we wanted to be. Two rooms at 54 a night sounded great. It took a good while to find them and once we did we were told that the booking was for two single bed rooms. We booked... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
