My husband and I stayed here for two nights while vacationing in Venice this past week. First, I loved the fact that as soon as we got off the bus and walked towards the water, we immediately saw the hotel! That was awesome given it was 2 am and we had a few heavy suitcases we had to walk down... More

Location of the hotel is close to the train station; within a 5+ minute walk. It may be difficult for individuals with back or mobility problems to carry their luggage to the hotel although it is only over 1 large bridge and one small bridge. The hotel can make arrangements for a porter to get your bags back and forth.... More

We visited this hotel in May of 2014 for three nights and were thoroughly charmed! Therefore, we had to return in May 2015 for a longer stay. This hotel has a perfect location. We were staying in Trieste and hired a driver to take us to Piazalle Roma. From there, it was just a short walk (over just one bridge)... More

Recommended by a friend who stayed last Autumn and it did not disappoint. We took the bus from the airport and as our friend said, just look a we bit to your right and there it was, so easy to find in a city that is a labyrinth of streets and alleyways. Front desk and breakfast staff were welcoming and... More

Lovely room in ideal quiet residential location. Restaurants and transportation are nearby. Only a short walk from the train station. Porters are available to carry your luggage and find the hotel for you if needed. I would stay there again.

We chose a room overlooking the canal. I loved the room, and loved opening the windows and hearing the boats. Even though some complain of the noise we enjoyed it. There's a great breeze during the day. Parking in the San Marco garage was convenient, but like other garages costs 27 euro per day, with a 3 euro discount provided... More

This hotel is very easy to find from the bus station - quick to get to ports for a cruise, as well. Main building has a lift to upper floors, and is very very clean. Staff is extremely helpful and pleasant. Marco was particularly helpful and professional. But be prepared for tiny tiny rooms with electricity that is "iffy". A... More

This hotel was easy to find. The location is excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a little tight on space, but, otherwise, well-kept/maintained. The restaurant was adequate to good.

This is a very nice hotel near the bus station, but still on the corner of a a couple of the smaller canals. it within a 5 minute walk to the grand canal. It is also about a 1pm minute walk from the train station, so if you have a little luggage you can carry it there yourself. but if... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
