Being a first time traveler to Venice for a cruise I had researched where to stay in Venice that would be easy to get to from the Marco Polo airport and be near the cruise lines. The location of Venice was Piazzale Roma. I had seen a few posts about the Hotel Arlecchino and thought we would give it a... More

A beautifully located hotel, extremely friendly staff and wonderful location (especially for cruisers). Front desk staff was exceptionally helpful with directions, for sightseeing and recommending dining options nearby. If we are ever lucky enough to get back to Venice, we will definitely return to this hotel! We would recommend this hotel without hesitation. Thank you Francsico and the rest of... More

Hotel is located a reasonable schlep from the cruise port, bus station and train station as well as the water bus lines. Hotel staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. Rooms are typically small so if your from North American get use to it.... No shower curtain so plan to use less water pressure to prevent flooding ... Nice breakfast and... More

The Hotel Arlecchino is small but one of the best For views (our room overlooked a canal facing west). From the window a beautiful view - hard to beat Close to a junction where three canals meet. This Arlecchino is our small harlequin Small, the advantage is the location it’s in. The decor is fine and mostly Venetian It’s location... More

I stayed here I night pre and post European cruise. The location Is ideal; being 1 bridge away from Piazza Roma reachable by taxi or airport bus from the airport. The piazza is easily reached from the cruise port by taxi or people mover. (I used the taxi to and from the cruise port. It was so convenient with heavy... More

We were only stopping in Venice for one night, and this hotel was lovely! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, clean room, beautiful views of the canal outside, great location and good breakfast :) The decor was of a traditional Venetian style which only added to the experience, I can't fault the hotel!

Although the room was very small, windows on 2 sides opened over canals. Room very clean. Breakfasts were excellent - very good with lots of variety. Very easy walk to water stops to get boats to all areas. Overall, a very good experience.

While lobby is small, the friendly staff makes up for that. Rooms are clean n nice. Luckily got a canal view room, adding a new dimension to our window view. Is walking distance from main bus stand n train station. A porter outside station came handy to carry bags across a bridge required to be negotiated to reach hotel.

We spent 2 nights here and loved it. The hotel is in a fantastic location, we used the vaporetto bus for sight seeing on the canal but were able to cover the whole of the island on foot very quickly and easily. Realto bridge was 10 mins with St Marks Square a little bit longer. We took a shared water... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
