I booked the Bauer Hotel based on the comments of other reviews posted on this site, after shopping around I found a website where I was able to book 3 nights for a total of £450 (£150 per night). From what I understand this is about the cheapest you can expect to book a room at the Bauer. I even... More

My husband and I stayed at the Bauer for 4 days in September of 2006. It was our first time in Italy. I know that Italy is known to be expensive with regard to lodging, but I feel like the Bauer was really overpriced for what it was. T The location was by far the best thing about the hotel.... More

We decided on this hotel when we read all the reviews on Trip Advisor. We flew from Dublin to Treviso with Ryanair. The location is perfect, within a couple of minutes walk of San Marco. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite on arrival. The room was very spacious and had a view of the little square in front of... More

We booked 3 nights with the hotel directly, after sorting through all the usual online search engine and paid €231/night B&B, for a delux room. Not sure what made our medium-sized room 'delux', maybe it was the toiletries, bathrobes and slippers? In fact the bed was pretty uncomfortable and the Bauer would really benefit from offering a pillow menu. But... More

We booked a four night holiday in venice in early february and decided to stay at the bauer. The hotel was fantastic! The hotel gave us a free upgrade to a junior suite where we had a marble bathroom with a jucuzzi bath and a fantastic view of the small canale and the campo san moise. After returning from a... stayed here for a grand price last minute on expedia £115 per night incl breakfast. Lovely roof top views, private jaccuzzi was being repaired when we were there. Even though off pea, Venice was still busy ish. Gonadelas a must, but expensive. Rooms are moderate size in general, but probably big for Venice, hotel staff very helpful and helped booked... More

Everything about our hotel stay was perfect. The room was ready when we arrived early. We received an upgrade at check-in. The bed was so comfortable, and the room so dark, we slept 10 hours the first night. The breakfast buffet was nice. The concierge was very helpful, including his recommendation for dinner (Olive Nero - which was outstanding). The... More

My husband and I stayed at the Bauer for a long weekend. We used Ryan air and flew into Treviso. It could not have been easier. Ryan air arrange courtesy transport into Venice which costs 9 euros return. It took about 45 minutes and we arrived at Piazzale Roma. This is the furthest point that cars/buses and trains can travel.... More

We went for the Bauer hotel as it was central, near St Marks Square and good value compared to their normal rack rate. The entrance was rather Soviet looking and a bit stark. We stayed in room 242 a deluxe room – and it cost £415 for 3 nights inc breakfast. (We could have got a slightly cheaper rate if... More

Great Hotel, The Best Location, Great Views, Great Restaurant. Everything top-notch. Only problem was the bed. Very Hard and NOT comfortable whatsoever. Woke up with horrible back and neck pain. Danieli and Gritti have more comfortable "Westin" Beds.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
