The room was clean and comfortable. Also their services were good and staff are smiling. I can tell everything is ok but the price is engrossing. If you pay this money for 2 nights, you can stay better quality hotels.

We stayed at the Bauer during a July heatwave. Our room was small but nicely decorated, no view at all, and the bathroom well appointed but as another reviewer mentioned they really need to add shower curtains. Our AC worked fine and the room was quiet. Laundry service was excellent as was the location of the hotel. Breakfast was fine.... More

The property is gorgeous. Our room was phenomenal from the décor to the location; we had a view into the square and canal. I took my mother on a birthday trip to Venice which I told the hotel about. When we arrived in our room they had chilled champagne and two glasses waiting for us, with a happy birthday card.... More

The best thing about this hotel is its location, right in the centre of the city. Nice to think about San Marco as a neighborhood. It seems luxury, at least the price is. But the service is not special, breakfasts are pretty dumb and the rooms are small. Don't know, if the price is reasonable in this case! (but the... More

Like the reviewer below, we booked the Bauer Hotel and didn't realise we would be staying in a separate building, the Bauer Casa Nova. Our booking and the hotel website didn't make it clear what the Casa Nova is. On arrival we were told we would be staying in the Casa Nova, which is an anonymous building down an alleyway... More

From stepping foot in this hotel all we saw / heard was "Bauer 5*"..... Just because a hotels linen, toiletries, coasters, towels, coat hangers, pens, notepads and well anything else has "5 star" written on it does not make it a 5 star hotel.... This hotel is anything but 5* and unfortunately that is down to the staff and the... More

Gave us a free upgrade. We were booked in the Casanova but they upgraded us to their more modern rooms. Very friendly staff, great location. Loved the breakfast and the breakfast terrace was a great way to start the day with very nice scenery. Rooms got cleaned many times during the day.

Spent 2 weeks in Italy in 5 different hotels. The Bauer was the the best of all the others which were all classified at 5 stars. Beautiful rooms with the best air conditioning in Italy. 5 star service. Centrally located. Great breakfast and dining area over looking the water

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
