It is a little hard to find at first but Google Maps got us there in the end. First impressions were very good, not big and fancy but adequate and clean. After all we were out most of the day exploring Venice. The staff were very friendly and welcoming the Spanish chap was very nice and helpful (sorry I can... More

Interesting location for the travelers to Venice since the guest house just few minutes walk from the Bus station and the Train station, but also in a very quiet neighborhood so you can sleep perfectly. Rooms are large and clean. The staff very friendly and organized. The breakfast is just perfect just you have to tell them in advance what are... More

Great location close to many interesting sites as well as to a waterbus station, yet absolutely walking distance from Roma Plazza and even more from the train station. The room we had was clean, big and had a nice bathroom. Cleaning, breakfast and stuff are very much worth a recommendation. Free WiFi included. Quite a competitive price. Bottom line: 5... More

We had a great time at Al Portico. The location was fab and easy to find (once you figure out how the houses in Venice are numbered- which is a bit random!). The staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was good too. And they seemed generally concerned about making our trip absolutely great! I especially like the fact that the... More

Location is very good, just one minute walk from the Venice main street of Rio Terrà Maddalena, but nested in a very quiet neighborhood, not too hard to find. Rooms are ok and fairly clean. Narrow stairs with no elevator, so pack light. The staff very helpful. The breakfast is excellent, the best continental breakfast we have had anywhere in... More

We transferred here from a sister property after deciding to extend our stay in Venice. The location was great, about ten minutes walk to various sights, just off a main walkway with shops and restaurants, but far enough away from things that it's quiet and you can find neighborhood type restaurants. The room was a bit small, but big enough... More

This is a good value. Clean, with good location and friendly staff. The breakfast was great and was served on the roof top. An easy walk from the train station and a water bus stop is close by also. Very close to many places to eat and shop. Use Google maps street view to help you find it. The bed... More

Lovely guest house. Perfect position away from the crowds but close enough to everything.Lovely rooftop for Brekkie. Breakfast could be offered a little earlier, but when we informed the staff that we had to leave early they made sure our breakfast was in our room before we left. Staff are very helpful. Room is small but all we needed as... More

We loved staying here for our three days in Venice. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, making suggestions for dining and sightseeing. It is close to the train station and there is a Vaparetto station a short distance away, making it very easy to get wherever you want to go. You are steps from restaurants, shops and street markets.... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
